THE 4TH EMIRATES EDUCATION WEEK— A Master Course in Modern Evidence Based Implant Dentistry focusing on both surgical and prosthetic aspects on advanced level November, 9—14, 2016, Dubai

COURSE DESCRIPTION This one week course, taking place in Dubai one of the most international metropole in the United Arab Emirates and addresses the experienced general practitioner and the specialist in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. The concept of modern comprehensive treatment planning, based on the evidence obtained in dental research in the last decades, will be presented. Case presentations, group work and discussions will be carried throughout the course in order to train the participants in setting up comprehensive treatment plans, using dental implants. Besides the theoretical part, interactive Video sessions will be held; Covering modern periodontal regenerative procedures and modern plastic periodontal surgery, utilizing the latest developments in microsurgical techniques and materials will be addressed.

Implant surgeries with and without guided bone augmentations (GBR) in the aesthetic zone and implant surgery in the posterior maxilla in conjunction with sinus floor elevation will be interactively discussed. After these interactive Video sessions the participants will have the possibilities to practice these techniques in several hands-on exercises. An other highlight in these Video sessions is that several Implant-bed problem-solving aspects can be addressed such can be; Schneiderian membrane perforation, artery or nerve damage. Prosthetic rehabilitation of partially and totally edentulous patients with dental implants and how optimal aesthetic results can be achieved in post extraction sites utilizing new materials will be discussed. After this course, participants will not only be up-todate in periodontal regeneration, implant dentistry and bone augmentation procedures but they will have also seen some of the wonders that the Emirates have to offer and experience the legendary Arabic hospitality.

1990 Dr. Bjarni E. Pjetursson, received his DDS from University of Iceland 1990—2000 he worked as a general dentist in his private clinic in Iceland. 2000 he started his postgraduate training in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the University of Berne, Switzerland. He received his specialist certificate and Masters degree in Periodontology (EFP & SSP) and Doctorate in Dentistry (Dr. med. dent) from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Berne, Switzerland. 2003—2005 he received his postgraduate training in Prosthodontics at the University of Berne, Switzerland. From 2005 he was an Assistant Professor and Senior lecturer at the Department of Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics, University of Berne and is presently the Chairman of the Department of Prosthodontics, Faculty of Odontology, University of Iceland. Dr. Pjetursson is an ITI Fellow and member of the editorial board of Clinical Oral Implants Research.

Bruno Schmid

Bruno Schmid graduated from the University of Bern in 1989. He first worked several years in private office and than continued onto postgraduate studies in the Department of Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Berne. In 1996 he got the specialization as Periodontist SSO. Since 1997 he has a private practice in Belp Switzerland, still working part time at the University. He is an ITI Fellow and the current chairman of the Swiss ITI section as well as the president of the Swiss Society of Implantology (SGI). He has presented many clinical programs throughout Europe and Asia.
