Over a decade of history at the OC Fair & Event Center For many years, N.E.C. Group, Inc. has consistently produced a minimum of three Home Improvement Shows annually at the OC Fair & Event Center . The CEO and his late partner also produced home shows at the OC Fair & Event Center dating back to the early 80’s. Show size has generally been buildings 10-12 and sometimes the Parade of Products. Additionally, the Main Mall or one half of the Main Mall has been added in times of a good economy. N.E.C. Group, Inc. has demonstrated a unique ability to attract upscale homeowners who are willing and able to purchase products and services from our vendors as well as support on-site food and beverage sales at the OC Fair & Event Center. In addition to attendee purchases of food and beverages, N.E.C. Group has provided at times “Vendor Breakfasts”, a “Ferrari Owner’s Association Breakfast”, “A Night with Steve Allen Dinner”, and promoted a special barbecue on behalf of the OC Fair & Event Center concessionaire. In fact N.E.C. Group would like to do more of the BBQ Events outdoors in the spring and the fall when the main mall is used. While attendance may vary depending on time of year, that variance is usually no more than 10% up or down.

This production company has consistently delivered quality events with licensed,trustworthy home improvement vendors to an audience of local and regional homeowners. No other event production company in Southern California has weathered the ever-changing economy in this market and consistently delivered more events with whom vendors were proud to be associated and attendees feel was worth their time and effort to attend. The N.E.C. Group, Inc. team has an unsurpassed level of expertise in every aspect of event production. Delivering an event that is consistent with the title of the show is uppermost in importance. When an attendee comes to an N.E.C. Group event, they are not subjected to exhibitors that are outside the advertised category of vendors.

Who is the N.E.C. Group, Inc. N.E.C. Group, Inc. Is one of America's leaders in the field of segmented marketing. Segmented marketing is the science of targeting a specific demographic in the marketplace, i.e., homeowners, women, sports enthusiasts, seniors, etc. Utilizing a variety of vehicles to assist clients to achieve marketing goals, N. E. C. Group specializes and provides media planning and buying, direct response advertising, lead generation, television shows, infomercial and television commercial production. In addition to providing strategies for clients in the general marketplace, The N. E. C. Group, Inc. produces consumer events including the 33rd annual Home Remodeling and Decorating Shows plus Eco-Expo at various venues throughout Southern California and Utah. Each show is systematically booked by category to ensure a true central marketplace theme where homeowners can get answers to their home improvement questions. While being able to meet face to face and interview local, regional and national companies that they are interested in doing business with resulting in intelligent decisions, and of course, purchases! This converts to local revenue that adds significantly to the state and local tax base. During show times, attendees also visit local eateries, gas stations and other business establishments. Traveling vendors provide a boost to hotels in the area as well. More important than just sales and profits and taxes are the contributions to the communities that are planned and executed at virtually all of these events.

The Eco-Expo feature started long before it was popular way over a decade ago! The shows management has been dedicated to providing the very latest environmentally friendly products and services. The show exhibited the first electric cars and the first hydrogen car! The show gave away thousands of CFL bulbs that will have a huge impact on energy savings in the community! The show's have given away thousands of trees to plant for Earth Days throughout the years! The show donated space and promoted the Edison energy star exhibit for years and continues to offer that and other environmentally friendly exhibits without charge! Fire safety displays, pool safety, water (Beach) safety displays, earthquake preparedness have all had separate displays helping to educate people in the communities of these important issues. These displays have included local fire departments, OC Lifeguards including the Costa Mesa city hall and the Mayor. Many of these types of exhibits were offered exhibit space on a complimentary basis, because the interests of the public and the communities these shows service needs to come first before profits! At the Orange County Fairgrounds the show has donated 1000’s of sq. feet of sod and potted plants over the years. The OC show donated space to the American Red Cross for collections of cash and goods for victims of fires and earthquakes. For years the OC show gave away thousands of pumpkins to attendees during our shows that fall just before Halloween. Canned food drives for the homeless have been going on throughout the years (this was not done for publicity, but because it was the right thing to do!

Several years ago The League of California Homeowners and the N.E.C. Group collaborated on a program to begin contractor license checking. N.E.C. Group became the first if not the only Homeshow company in Southern California to begin checking contractor exhibitors for proper licensing by the California Contractors States License Board (CSLB). N.E.C. requires all contractor exhibitors to sign a contract asserting that they are in fact in good standing with the CSLB. Because of N.E.C.’s commitment to the dissemination of consumer information through seminars, workshops, and in-kind space donations for non-profits and their causes, the N.E.C. Groups home show’s are the only home show’s approved and endorsed by the League of California Homeowners .

Who and what’s at the events? Americas Green Gardner, syndicated columnist and radio host Nick Federoff speaks and shares his knowledge at every show. TV and Radio Trouble shooter Judd McIlvain is there to broadcast live and help community attendees with their consumer problems. Best Buys reporter Alan Mendelson features these events on his Best buys shows on KCOP TV. N.E.C. Home Remodeling and Decorating Shows include meticulously planned special features, such as: Cooking Demos from top local restaurants, the Do-It-Yourself Workshops, The World of Kitchens, Spa Spectacular, Window and Door Exhibition, The Money Show and the Dream Backyard. Exhibitors also have the opportunity to increase visibility by presenting an educational noncommercial mini-seminar on the shows stages. The show's latest special feature designed to help homeowners during these challenging times is the Home Buyers, House Sellers and Real Estate Investors Expo which was originally conceived at the OCFG during the last economic downturn. The feature was a big success at the last show in L.A. and is planned to continue into next year! Participants included best selling authors Michael Corbit "Find It Fix It Flip It" and others, Stephen Dexter author of “Beat The Bank", “Real Estate Debt Can Make You Rich" and others. Author of “5 Steps To Sold” and real estate strategist Mallory Nicholson , KFWB's hosts of "House Talk" Bill Southerland, Barry Tikotin, and Jay McBee who specialize in bank owned properties at $500 down as well as leading mortgage modification specialists and attorneys to help those in need.

Group events include: The Kohler Exhibition, The Bosch Exhibition, The Century 21 Home Of The future (featuring the Jetsons ride), Better Homes and Gardens Living Green Expo, Saturn , Sears, Ford, Gem Car, Mercedes Benz Ferraris Owners Club. (Ferraris Owners Club Breakfast hosted At OC Last year) Several of the past home improvement events have been sponsored by the Home Restoration & Remodeling TV Show. The TV show was produced by N.E.C. Group, Inc.’s Chairman and C.E.O. It was hosted by Olympic Gold Medalist Bob Seagren and KTLA Reporter Tiiu Leek. Their combined enthusiasm helped build real quality attendance for the home improvement events. Special local versions of the TV show are available to our clients to utilize as an editorial vehicle to carry their advertising message to a specific targeted audience.
