Call to Worship Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe,

For in your wisdom you have formed us. You feed the hungry and clothe the naked. We bless you and praise your name forever. You set free those who are bound. We bless you and praise your name forever. You raise up those whose courage falters. We bless you and praise your name forever. You provide for our every need. Accept our grateful praises. Blessed are you, O Lord our God, maker of all things. For in your wisdom you have formed us.

Prayer of the Day

The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. Almighty God our Father, your generous goodness comes to us new every day. By the work of your Spirit lead us to acknowledge your goodness, give thanks for your benefits, and serve you in willing obedience, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. 2

Lesson

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God.

Psalm

Philippians 4:4-9

Psalm 126

Cantor sings refrain; congregation sings refrain; Cantor sings verses, congregation sings refrain.

When the Lord delivered us from our captors it seemed like a dream. Then were our mouths filled with laughter, our tongues sang for joy.

Many people said, “God has done great things, done great things for them”. Truly, the Lord has done wonders; we sing and rejoice.

As the rivers will water the desert, O God, bring us back! Those who are sowing in sorrow shall sing as they reap.

They went out to the fields full of sorrow, sowing their seeds; They come back from the harvest rejoicing, bearing their sheave 3

Gospel

John 6:25-35

25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “What sign are you going to give us then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Then Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” 35Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God.

Confessions of Faith Luther’s explanation to the 1st article of the Apostles’ Creed

God has made us His people through our baptism into Christ. Living together in trust and hope, we confess our faith. I believe God has created me and all that exists. He has given me and still preserves my body and soul with all their powers. He provides me with food and clothing, home and family, daily work, and all I need from day to day. God also protects me in time of danger and guards me from every evil. All this he does out of fatherly and divine goodness and mercy, though I do not deserve it. Therefore I surely ought to thank and praise, serve and obey him. This is most certainly true. 4

Sharing the Peace The peace of Christ be with you always.

And also with you.

Worshippers are invited to greet one another, saying,“Peace be with you.”

Offering

(7 p.m.) “I Will Live My Thanks” -Martin/Schram

I will live my thanks, O Lord; I will show my gratitude. In every day, in every way, I will live my thanks to You. I will share your gifts of love in all I say and do. With songs of praise and acts of grace, I will live my thanks to you.

I will live my thanks, O Lord, with my willing hands and feet. In every day, in every way, I will spread your joy and peace. I will share your gifts of love in all I say and do. With songs of praise and acts of grace, I will live my thanks to you.

You have blessed me that I may be a blessing, Filled my heart that love might overflow. You have given that I might give to others; You have touched me that I might be an instrument of hope,

And I will live my thanks, O Lord; I will show my gratitude. In every day, in every way, I will live my thanks to You. I will share your gifts of love in all I say and do. With songs of praise and acts of grace, I will live my thanks to you.

With songs of praise and acts of grace, I will live my thanks to You.
