MICHAEL J. LONGYEAR represents clients in a variety of probate and trust administration matters. He educates his clients and peers about his areas of specialization which include probate, trust administration, elder law and estate planning. Mr. Longyear currently serves on the Executive Committee of the WSBA Real Property, Probate & Trusts section. Mr. Longyear earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is on the King County Superior Court Guardian ad Litem registry for Title 11 matters and the Settlement Guardian ad Litem Registry for SPR 98.16 W. He is a certified professional guardian and serves as guardian of the estate and as a trustee and estate administrator in routine and complex or contested matters. From 2001 to 2008, Mr. Longyear served on the Washington State Professional Guardian Certification Board. He was on the WSBA Elder Law Section Executive Committee for 10 years in a variety of positions including as Section Chair. He is a past Co-Chair for the King County Superior Court Settlement Guardian ad Litem (SPR 98.16W) Certification Training, a past Chair of the KCBA Guardianship & Elder Law Section, and a past Co-Chair of the Title 11.88 Mandatory Guardian ad Litem Training Program. He is also a member of the Real Property, Trust & Probate and the Guardianship and Elder Law Sections of the King County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association and the Seattle Estate Planning Council..

Ken received his B.S. from Willamette University, his J.D. from Seattle University, and his LL.M. (taxation) from the University of Washington School of Law. BRUNSTROM is member at Reed, Longyear, Malnati & Ahrens, PLLC with a litigation practice focused in the areas of Social Security, Trust, Probate, and Guardianship matters. Eric also represents clients regarding Medicaid and Medicare entitlement, estate planning, trust formation and administration, and in general civil litigation matters. Eric focuses his representation on individuals, or their family members, with severe physical and/or mental impairments, including limitations arising as a result of aging. He attended both Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and Seattle University Law School for his J.D. and received his B.A. degree from Fairhaven College at Western Washington University. Eric is a guardian ad litem for King County, admitted to WSBA and the U.S. District Court, WDWA, and is a member of KCBA, WSTLA, and the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives as well as several KCBA and WSBA sections. Mr. Brunstrom has also been named as a Rising Star for 2009 by Washington Law and Politics magazine.

After clerking on the Division II Court of Appeals and the State Supreme Court, Jason enjoyed the opportunity to represent a broad range of clients in matters ranging from professional liability to the scope of access easements, as well as commercial and business litigation. A significant portion of his work now is also devoted to the areas of trust, estate and guardianship litigation. Jason is an associate at Reed, Longyear, Malnati & Ahrens, PLLC, in Seattle, Washington. He is a graduate of the University of Washington and Seattle University (J.D., cum laude, 2000), and lives in Seattle.

COMMISSIONER JUDSON was recently appointed Commissioner to the King County Superior Court. Prior to being a commissioner he concentrated his practice in the areas of Guardianship, Probate, Trusts and Elder Law. He is a certified professional Guardian, and has served as a Guardian of the Person and/or Estate of Incapacitated Persons, a Trustee and as Personal Representative of Decedent’s estates upon court appointment. Until 2009, Mr. Judson was a member of the Title 11 and Title 26 Guardian ad Litem registries in King County; he remains on the Title 11 registry in Snohomish County. He also serves as a Court Commissioner Pro Tempore in the Ex Parte/Probate Department of the King County Superior Court. From 2007 through 2009 Mr. Judson was a Co-Chair of the King County Bar Association’s Title 11 Guardianship GAL Program, and has been a speaker at seminars on a variety of topics relating to guardianship and probate. Mr. Judson received his B.A. from Pomona College in 1977 and his J.D. from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College in 1980. He is a member of Washington State Bar Association, the King County Bar Association, and the Snohomish County Bar Association.

GRAUNKE’S practice in downtown Seattle focuses on guardianship, probate, trusts, estate planning, and elder law. She also acts as a court-appointed settlement and probate Guardian ad Litem. Michelle was admitted to the Washington State Bar Association in May 1999, after graduating cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in December 1998. She was an associate with the law firm of Thompson & Howle for over five years before starting her own practice in July 2004. She recently hired an associate attorney allowing her to expand her practice. Michelle is a member and past Chair of the Elder Law and Guardianship Section of the King County Bar Association. She is also a member and former Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association and is currently co-Chair of its Outreach Committee. She is a frequent presenter on issues, including guardianship, alternatives to guardianship, and probates.

GOERTZ is a senior partner at Goertz & Lambrecht PLLC, where she specializes in probate administration and litigation. She grew up in Spokane and graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in 1995, when she relocated to Seattle. After eight years as a sole practitioner and contract attorney, she formed Goertz & Lambrecht PLLC with her husband, civil litigation attorney Bruce J. Lambrecht, in the beautiful waterfront community of Edmonds. She handles probate litigation cases and enjoys administering the uncontested estate, but one of her favorite things to do is prepare TEDRA Agreements that actually make all of the parties involved at least reasonably happy. She is not the chair of any impressive committees, has no published opinions or famous case sites to point out, and is not as-yet promoting that best-selling novel she is sure she will write someday.

GORTON joined the firm in 2012, and her practice focuses primarily on taxation, estate planning and trust and estate litigation. Prior to joining the firm, Tiffany was a tax associate in a boutique accounting firm with her practice focusing on estate, gift and fiduciary taxation. Tiffany also serves as a volunteer attorney for the University of Washington Federal Tax Clinic where she assists taxpayers in resolving disputes with the Internal Revenue Service.

Chad regularly volunteers with many organizations in the community, including the King County Neighborhood Legal Clinic, the Family Law Information Center, Children’s Therapy Center, and HealthPoint. Chad also serves as a pro tem commissioner with the King County Superior Court. Chad grew up in Wenatchee before moving to Seattle to attend the University of Washington for his undergraduate degree. He graduated from Drake Law School in Des Moines, Iowa with honors and was editor-in-chief of the law review. When not at work, Chad likes to play tennis, hike, backpack, and climb mountains with his friends and spouse Patrick, and hop on his bike for his 20 mile commute to work.

ICHIKAWA is an associate at the firm of Stokes Lawrence, P.S. where she guides individuals and families through the estate planning process. From basic arrangements to complex taxable estates, Jenna helps clients develop plans that are tailored to fit their unique circumstances and specific needs. She also counsels families and organizations on important financial and tax matters such as trust and estate administration, international estate planning for U.S. citizens living abroad, charitable planned giving and the laws regulating tax-exempt organizations. Jenna graduated from the University of Washington School of Law. Prior to law school, she received her B.A. in History from the University of Puget Sound and her M.P.A. from the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington.

MOEN has more than 10 years experience in probate, trust, and guardianship matters. In addition to representing professional and lay fiduciaries, she has been appointed as a fiduciary by the Court on multiple occasions to serve as personal representative or guardian ad litem in complex administrations. Sarah is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Washington, the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Tax Court. She is the currently the Treasurer of the Guardianship and Elder Law Section of the King County Bar Association and served as the Seattle Vice-Chair from 2012-2014. She has had several articles published and has spoken at numerous legal seminars on fiduciary administrations. Sarah received her B.A. degree (English with a writing emphasis) from the University of Washington, her J.D. from Whittier Law School, and her LL.M. (Taxation) from Villanova University School of Law. While studying for her LL.M., she interned at the District Counsel's Office of the Internal Revenue Service in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A third generation lawyer, Sarah balances the demands of her career by indulging in weekend adventures with her family and friends during the spring and summer, coaching the girls soccer team at Ballard High School in the fall, and going snowboarding in the winter.

He represents individuals and families in personal and estate planning strategies that range from developing basic estate plans to implementing sophisticated planning techniques intended to transfer family assets and achieve a variety of family, business succession and charitable objectives. He advises clients on estate and trust administration, probate, estate and trust dispute resolution matters, and the preparation of gift and estate tax returns. Steven also represents personal representatives (executors and administrators), trustees (including trustees of special needs trusts, as well as guardians) and beneficiaries in estate and trust administration. His practice includes working with individuals and groups to form charitable organizations and advising existing organizations on a variety of legal and tax matters.
