Collaboration... More than just a buzz word For most businesses the need to instantly collaborate is becoming more than just a requirement, it’s becoming a necessity. We’re constantly looking for ways to cut down on costs, be more efficient and increase productivity. And at the same time we want this to happen fast and need it to be easy. The word collaborate has become quite a buzz word over the past few years, especially within the conferencing world. Our response to this? Finally! Finally we have solutions that allow us to communicate effectively with nothing more than a simple click. Finally we can join meetings that no longer require us to call on our IT departments. And finally we can collaborate with sophisticated web technologies combined with crystal clear audio lines. Welcome to a world where simplicity takes a front seat. A world where Teleconferencing and Web Conferencing become one and speed and ease become more than just promises. This is collaboration at its finest, it’s collaboration the Redback way.

“Collaboration is a working practice whereby individuals work together to a common purpose to achieve business benefit.” www.aiim.org

Teleconferencing - Traditional, still relevant The introduction of VoIP and Video Conferencing solutions has forced many organisations to re-evaluate their teleconferencing requirements. It’s also raised the question, why are we still using PSTN audio lines as a conferencing solution? Quality. While VoIP conferencing solutions are becoming more cost effective, the reliability and quality of the systems are questionable and in most cases not suitable for corporate communications. “Every time someone joins a teleconference that’s hosted by your company your brand and reputation is on the line,” says Jeff Downs, CEO of Redback Conferencing. “While VoIP solutions are increasing in popularity, many aren’t willing to take the risk; especially with the poor internet quality in Australia.” The introduction of VoIP solutions has actually had a positive impact on traditional PSTN Conferencing services. In a recent study by Wainhouse Research, 67% of respondents stated they would use more traditional audio conferencing solutions in 2016.

In Australia the trends also appear to be going upward. Downs states that he has seen a huge increase in teleconferencing services over the past five years. “We’ve seen a 64% increase in teleconferencing usage since 2011. This is not only due to companies making the switch, but also new users within organisations having an increased need to make distance obsolete.”

Mobile Devices It’s important now more than ever to consider mobile devices when hosting web conferences. A 2015 study conducted by Wainhouse Research shows one quarter (25%) of respondents indicate they involve a mobile device in their web conferences over 25% of the time*. On top of this, the effectiveness of mobile devices for web conferencing generally increases yearly. In 2014 and 2015, only 2% or less of respondents thought their smartphone was not effective for a web conference – and no one thought their tablet was not effective**.
