Employee Patient Experience: Debbie London Over the last year I have been struggling with neck and back pain. When I could no longer tolerate the neck pain, I was referred to our outpatient physical therapy department. I have always known our physical therapy staff are wonderful people and experts in their field. From a patient’s perspective, I can now assure everyone that our rehab staff EXCEEDED my expectations from scheduling my first appointment to my last appointment. The genuine concern and compassion that these individuals show is BEYOND OUTSTANDING. My back pain may always be a problem for me, but to know that I can go somewhere where everyone treats me just like their family is so wonderful and reassuring. I also want to send out a special THANK YOU to these wonderful ladies: Ashley Love, DPT, Sonya Hammer, PTA, and Anne Hodges, Massage Therapist, because YOU ARE ANGELS!!! Sincerely, Debbie London

home health rehab team

Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapists make up our exceptional home health rehab team. We currently serve three counties: Barren, Hart and Metcalfe Counties. Throughout the seasons of snow, rain, sun, and the changing colors of fall, our team brings their expertise to the patient's home to the intimate setting where healing and restoration takes place among family and friends. Much of our work in the home health setting is focused toward assisting elderly patients to stay in their own homes longer and more safely. In the home health setting, family members become an integral part of the rehabilitation team. If you or your family has been served by our home health rehab team, you will likely recognize these familiar faces as many of our staff have been with our T.J. team for over 15 years.

School-Based Pediatric Occupational Therapy Services WKU Physical Therapy Program: Sonia Young, PT, DPT, EdD

When looking for a place to practice pediatric physical therapy, I was impressed by the integrity and care displayed by the rehabilitation team at TJ Samson. I joined the outpatient pediatric team in January 2016 with 18 years of experience in pediatric and adult neurological physical therapy. This interprofessional team is composed of pediatric physical, occupational, speech therapists and assistants, along with a support staff and leaders, who are committed to giving the patients the best experience. Pediatric patients with diagnoses that range from orthopedic to neurological are more than a number at TJ Samson. The team invests in their lives and works hard to deliver the best evidence-based treatment interventions and assessments in a fun environment. My goal is to serve my pediatric patients and families working alongside my co-workers to accomplish the best outcomes.

T.J. SPORTS MEDICINE PROGRAM

TJ Samson has Sports Medicine agreements with the Barren County and Glasgow School Systems, which requires an Athletic Trainer (AT) or Physical Therapist (PT or DPT) to provide Sports Medicine services to the athletic teams on a daily basis. Aside from coverage of athletic events, both schools have an “athletic training”/sports medicine room, open 5 days per week, where athletes can receive appropriately-needed Sports Medicine services.

My journey with the TJ family began back in 2008. I started helping with Camp TJ in high school where I fell in love with the kids and the staff. I then observed in the clinic to see where I wanted to take my career path. I then knew I wanted to be a physical therapist. So, I began that trek at WKU where I completed a degree in Exercise Science. It was my connections and recommendations through the TJ family that I got a great job to help support myself through undergrad. As if this wasn't enough, TJ rehab gave me the opportunity to get internships hours in order to get accepted into PT school. Now I am currently in my last year in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at WKU and completing one of my clinical rotations back here at home. I want to thank TJ rehab for all of the support and opportunities so graciously given to me over the years.

Director of Rehabilitation Services

In 2000, I came onboard as an occupational therapist and in 2007, I was honored to become the Director of Rehabilitation Services. It has been a privileged journey. I love working with this dynamic team of therapists who are committed to providing excellent care in a variety of settings. We are very excited about our continued growth in specialty areas. I am proud to be a member of an organization that is committed to serving the people in our community.
