If you are purchasing by credit card, use Option 1. Candidates completing their first credential in the state of California are required to submit TPA’s (Teacher Performance Assessment’s). At PLNU first time credential candidates pay a TPA fee that also includes a one year Task Stream subscription and if necessary, a one year subscription renewal. If you are a first time credential candidate and have not received a Task Stream account activation key code, please contact your local department assistant (page 31). This key code will be used in Option 2 of step 1. PLNU undergraduate students will be granted a Task Stream account activation code only during their senior year and a one year renewal when this account expires.

Follow the directions below to complete Step 2.

PLNU Task Stream Tutorial

When completing the Organizational Information in Step 3 you will need to identify your program of study from the drop down box prompting the Department.

In the Subscription Information section most candidates select the 1 yr. account ($42). If, after a year, you are still taking a course that has a signature assignment embedded you can renew your account.

If you are a first time credential candidate and you need to renew your account please contact your local department assistant for a subscription renewal code.

The Tool Pack offered by Task Stream is optional, however, at no extra cost I would recommend that you select it and explore its potential.

From time to time our University is required to present data to the state for accreditation purposes. Please allow us to use your work by accepting the terms that grant us “Permission to Publish Candidate Work.”

Upon first log in you will complete additional questions required by our University.

After accepting the end-user agreement, Step 4 pertains to Confirmation of Registration. You must confirm all information before your account can be created! Step 5 will prompt you to purchase Additional Storage which is optional and not needed. Your Task Stream account grants 500Mb which is more than enough space for all the documents you will upload during the completion of your program. Step 6, Billing Information, enables you to pay your subscription using a credit card. Step 7 will finalize the creation of your Task Stream account. Please ensure that a valid email address has been entered so that TaskStream can send your TaskStream username and password to you. All email addresses are confidential and will not be made available to third parties. Please note: Task Stream suggests that you add the [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] email addresses to your email application’s address book to help ensure that emails from TaskStream will be delivered and will not be blocked by any spam software/settings that you may have enabled on your computer.

Compressing Video for TaskStream Currently, TaskStream allows users to upload videos up to 500 megabytes in size. Therefore, in order to upload a video to TaskStream, you will need to compress the video to make sure it is smaller than 500 megabytes in size. Below is a list of issues that may prevent you from uploading your videos on to TaskStream: • • • •

Videos over 500 megabytes in size DVD video. DVD video is usually much larger in size and cannot be uploaded directly into TaskStream using conventional means. The DVD must be transcoded into a compatible digital video file, such as .wmv, .mov., or mpg. Streaming video from sites such as YouTube cannot be uploaded to TaskStream as is. It can be embedded if you have knowledge of HTML, but we do not recommend embedding video since it is not archival, meaning the video may be removed from the streaming service. Upload size restrictions from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). For more information on your upload size restrictions, please contact your ISP.

If your video is larger than 500 MB in size, you will need to compress (make smaller) your video to ensure that you can successfully upload your video to TaskStream. Luckily, all the tools to compress video files come free with your computer, either PC or Mac. There are also free programs available for download. A basic web search for compression tools should give you more options if you do not wish to use the software listed below.
