Zone Tags In some cases publishers are interested in greater control over the exact placement of Kontera links within their pages. For example, you might want to only have links displayed within the main paragraphs and not on the bottom section of a page. To achieve this, you will need to use Zone Tags. Zone tags have “open” and “close” tags. When you apply them on your pages, we will only place links on the text that is between these tags. You can use the zone tags as many times as you would like on a single page.

Zone Tag Example: Let’s assume you have a page with two paragraphs and you only want to have Kontera in the first paragraph: Typical global climate simulations use spatial resolutions of about 300 kilometers (186 miles), which limits their ability to simulate climate and climate change on a regional scale. For example, with these lower resolutions it is difficult to assess climate changes, and the resulting societal impacts, in the climatically varying regions within California. LLNL and on two machines at the Department of Energy's National Energy Research Supercomputer Center (NERSC). Again, you can use the DIV tags as many times as you would like on a single page.

Filter Tags In some cases, publishers are interested in restricting certain areas of their pages. To achieve this, you will need to use Filter tags.

Filter tags example: Let’s assume you have a page with three paragraphs and you do not want to have Kontera links in the first paragraph: Typical global climate simulations use spatial resolutions of about 300 kilometers (186 miles), which limits their ability to simulate climate and climate change on a regional scale. For example, with these lower resolutions it is difficult to assess climate changes, and the resulting societal impacts, in the climatically varying regions within California.

The high-resolution global climate simulations were run on a number of large computers at LLNL and on two machines at the Department of Energy's National Energy Research Supercomputer Center (NERSC). The 50 km global model has 32 times more grid cells and requires about 200 times more computer processing time than comparable models at 300-km resolution.

Bold Code In some cases, publishers are interested in preventing Kontera from highlighting bold text within their content. To achieve this, you will need to use the following “Bold Active” code: var dc_isBoldActive= 'no'; For example, if you would like to exclude links from bold text you would insert the above line of code as shown below: var dc_AdLinkColor = 'blue' ; var dc_isBoldActive= 'no'; var dc_PublisherID = XXXXX ;

Frequently Asked Questions 1.

How quickly will ads start appearing on my site?

After being accepted to Kontera’s network, setting up your account, and successfully pasting the Kontera tag onto your web pages, Kontera links will start on your site after 12AM PST the same day.

2. How do I optimize my site for the most relevant ads? Our ability to target ads for a Publisher’s site depends on the content and structure of that site. Here are some basic guidelines for optimization: • • • • •

Place the tag on pages that predominately contain text, since only text is used to determine a page's context. Kontera’s algorithm works in real-time to ensure that relevant ads will be served regardless of how frequently your content is updated. If your site contains frames, be sure to place the tag in the frame that has the majority of the content. Do not place the tags within IFRAME or DIV tags. This will cause technical issues. Refrain from any tag modifications that are not listed in this document or other official Kontera documents. If you’ve made some modification to the Kontera tag parameters, test the functionality of your newly created tags on a few pages prior to launching across the full site.

By following these tips, we can better serve the most relevant advertising on your site.

3. Can I place the ad tag on more than one site? We gladly welcome your additional sites into Kontera’s network. For better tracking of your sites’ individual performance, we issue Kontera tags for each site in our network. Please send us a request to issue additional tags using the “Help Tab” in the Kontera Publisher Center. Please be sure to list all the URLs you are interested in adding, and our Support Team will handle your request ASAP.

4. Can I filter competitive or undesired ads from appearing on my site? Yes, you can request to block specific advertisers from showing up on your site. Please note that filtering advertisers may decrease the number of ads that can appear on your pages as well as decrease your revenue potential. Please contact us using the “Help Tab” in the Kontera Publisher Center, and include in your request either the exact advertiser’s URLs as shown in the ad or a screenshot of the ad you want blocked.

5. How and when do I get paid? Our payment terms are Net 30, first week of the month, when balance exceeds US $50. This means we send publishers their revenue by Check, PayPal, Wire transfers or ACH, the first week of the month, 30 days after the month that they have earned this revenue, when the account balance reaches US $50, unless a payment hold exists or unless requested by the publisher in their payment information. For example, if you earn $30 in January and $40 in February, we'll send payment to you the first week of April.

If your account balance is less than US $50 at the end of the month, earnings (for all your sites combined) are rolled forward to the following month, until the payment threshold is reached.

6. What data is available to me in the Publisher Center? The Publisher Center allows you to view your account data, offering the following options: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Full coverage of your site's performance including clicks, eCPM, CTR and revenues. Keyword Report – displaying your site's top 20 performing keywords per week. URL report – displaying your site's top 20 performing URLs per week. Capabilities for editing user account details, like phone number, address (for paper checks) and email address (so we can contact you or for PayPal). 5. Support contact form available through the "Help Tab."

7. What do the various metrics in my Publisher Center report stand for? The following is a brief guide explaining the metrics of the Publisher Center Reporting: •

Net Impressions- the number of times a website was loaded by internet users, calculating only those pages on which at least one Kontera ad was displayed.

Clicks - The number of times a Kontera ad was clicked on in any specific day.

CTR - (Click-Through Rate) the average rate at which a site’s users click on an ad; this is calculated by dividing the number of clicks by net impressions to yield a percentage.

Revenue- The total earnings as a result of all clicks in a particular day.

eCPM - (Effective Cost Per Thousand)- an estimate of the revenue for each 1,000 net impressions that a publisher’s site generates; a key tool in projecting revenue based on impressions.
