REGION OVERVIEW

CHILE Chile is a long thin sliver of land on the West Coast of South America. It shares a border with Argentina, Bolivia and Peru and faces out to the Pacific Ocean. It is approximately 3,000 miles long and never more than 220 miles wide. It’s mainly of Mediterranean climate with rains concentrated in winter and spring, and a long dry season through autumn. Chile’s geographic position gives rise to unique and diverse geology that has made it renowned for wine production. The Atacama Desert to the north, the Andes Mountains to the east, the Patagonian ice fields to the south, and the Pacific Ocean to the west make Chile a veritable agricultural island. Together they help maintain healthy conditions and protect vineyards against pests and disease.* The Chilean landscape also offers a vast mosaic of terroirs and soil types. Soils are healthy, welldrained, and have a variety of origins (alluvial, colluvial, fluvial, etc.) and textures (loam, clay, sand, silt). The interaction between the effects of the sea and those of the Andes result in a growing season that revels in bright sunny days and temperatures that take a dramatic dip each night to create the broad daily temperature oscillation that wine grapes need to develop fresh fruit flavors, crisp acidity, and in the case of red wines, ripe tannins, deep color, and high levels of antioxidants and flavonols.*

CHILEAN WINE LAWS • D.O. (Denomination of Origin) defines regions, sub-regions, zones and areas and only establishes the grapes’ origin. • Only approved grape varieties may be planted. Hybrid grapes are strictly forbidden. • 75% of wine must be from geographic area when using a denomination of origin. • Estate bottled may only be used when the winery and vineyards are located in the same geographic area within the D.O. • D.O. wines may use the terms Gran Reserva, Gran Vino, Reserva, Reserva Especial, Reserva Privada, Seleccion and Superior. These words do not have a specific definition and may be used with a different meaning in each winery. WINE FACTS • The main wine regions of Chile follow the valleys of rivers running down from the Andes to the Pacific Ocean, transecting the 625 mile Central Valley • Grapes originally planted by the Conquistadors • Phylloxera – free • Some of the largest organic vineyards in the world • Chile’s premium wine growing regions are located between the 30 & 40 latitudes (Napa Valley is 36) • Soils differentiate between appellations and range from sea sand to volcanic rock • Rated among the finest in the world PRIMARY VARIETIES RED

ULTRA – PREMIUM TIER OVERVIEW Gê & COYAM

These wines are the flagship wines of Emiliana’s portfolio. Dynamic red blends, masterpieces of nature. From the vineyard to the bottle they are cultivated with the utmost purest methods, championing strict biodynamic principals, with the final product being the ultimate expression of their Chilean Terroir. Their consistent accolades, as well as their environmental achievements position them as revolutionary and in a class of their own.

Gê BRAND SUMMARY

After several decades and various generations working in the Chilean countryside, the Emiliana team thought to pay tribute to the land by incorporating its presence in the name of a wine. A wine which would be produced under the strictest biodynamic management to achieve the maximum expression. This gave rise to the idea of calling it Gê, from ancient Greek, meaning land or earth. In Gê, the energy of the cosmos, earth, and humankind come together in a unique wine with tremendous personality that faithfully reflects the characteristics and attributes of the terroir from which it comes.

COYAM BRAND SUMMARY

Coyam means ‘Oak Forest’ in Mapudungun, the language of the native people of southern Chile. Inspiration for the name comes from the presence of majestic native trees that have surrounded the Los Robles Estate in the Colchagua Valley for centuries. The aim of the winemaking team is to achieve the maximum expression of each grape variety - While climatic conditions give way to differing varietal proportions, each vintage will have the same spirit and soul, preserving its unique and distinct identity.

FEATURES

ULTRA-PREMIUM TIER RATINGS Gê 2010 90 Points – Wine Spectator January 2014 “A big, ripe red, with a sense of refinement to the dark plum, dried berry and blackberry jam flavors, supported by firm acidity and plenty of tannins.” 90 Points – Wine Enthusiast September 2013

Gê 2009 91 Points – erobertparker.com December 2012 “…It has a wonderful bouquet that is pure and refined, with notes of macerated dark cherries, cassis and crushed violets. The palate is sweet and sappy on the entry with intense notes of small dark cherries, citrus lemon, cassis and a touch of espresso towards the weighty, grippy finish.” 91 Points – Wine Spectator “Macerated black cherry, dark plum skin and roasted game notes are featured in full force in this rich red, with layers of graphite, cedar and dusky spices unfolding on the dark finish. Syrah, Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon.” 92 pts + Editor’s Choice– Wine Enthusiast March 2013 “Gê is one of Chile’s perennial best blends. It mixes Syrah, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon into a lovable, complex whole. The nose is spicy yet suave, with cool berry, herb and olive aromas. It feels fresh, full and clean with olive, pepper, cherry, cassis, coffee and chocolate flavors on the palate and finish.”

Gê 2008 93 pts + Editor’s Choice– Wine Enthusiast March 2013 “This Colchagua Valley blend smells of lead pencil, coconut, black cherry, spice and vanilla. The mouthfeel is firm, solid and complete with dark berry, fine herbs and spice flavors. Coyam 2010 91 points – winespectator.com January 2014 “Deep, rich and well-sculpted red, with notes of granite to the dried plum, cherry and wild berry flavors that are supported lively acidity and medium-grained tannins. ULTRA-PREMIUM TIER RATINGS 91 points – erobertparker.com Neal Martin, December, 2012 “…It has a harmonious bouquet with blackberry, boysenberry, licorice and a touch of tobacco that is nicely focused considering the number of varieties in the blend. The palate is medium-bodied with blackberry and spice on the entry, bold and assertive tannins that do not upset that balance since there is ample weight of pure blackberry and cassis…this is a well made wine.”

Coyam 2009 90 Points – Wine Spectator James Molesworth, September, 2011 “Dark and muscular in style, with loam, roasted coffee and dark fig notes backed by more tar, tobacco and black cherry. Shows solid depth, with nicely buried acidity driving the finish. This has range and character.” 90 Points – Robert Parker Jay Miller, February, 2012 “Notions of sandalwood, dried herbs, meat, underbrush, blueberry, and blackberry lead to a fullbodied, voluptuous, concentrated wine with succulent fruit, good balance, and several years of aging potential. Drink this lengthy effort from 2015 to 2024.”

Pinot Noir Origin:

Organic Vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, Chile.

Grape Variety:

100% organically grown grapes. 100% Pinot Noir, 777 Dijon Clone.

Description:

Bright ruby red in color with aromas of berries, pronounced strawberry, accompanied by notes of spice and cocoa. This wine bursts with fruit yet is tamed by soft and smooth tannins and layered with an element of earthiness. Nice acidity allows for a long, lingering finish.

When ancient astronomers witnessed the creation of new stars they called them “Novas.” In tribute to their patient work of observing the behavior of nature, each Novas wine reflects the “star,” or the best variety from the premier, most renowned winegrowing regions of Chile. Novas wines have been created from purely organic grapes from the estate vineyards of Emiliana. Organics and biodynamics facilitate the expression of ‘terroir’ which gives each Novas varietal a distinct sense of origin. They also result in purer grapes which are cleaner and healthier, for a higher quality wine. The grapes are hand-picked at peak maturity and vinified in accordance with nature, producing opulent, lush, and balanced wines. Novas Pinot Noir is ideal for serving with white meats, light sauces or with full-flavored fish and shellfish prepared with vegetables or butter sauces. It goes well with cured hams such Serrano or Prosciutto, and sushi. UPC

Nature takes a hand in creating each of our wines. Organic viticulture seeks to maintain a natural balance in the earth, which brings forth the true character of the vineyard terroir and allows the grapes to express themselves fully. The distinctive flavors of each combine to make a remarkably unique and complex wine. From one valley to another, nuances of flavor emerge that are indicative of that place alone. The result: an organic wine which tastes better. Enjoy this fresh wine with ceviche, sushi, smoked ham, goat cheese and salads. UPC
