1. What is quickSMS “quickSMS” is a portal designed for Indian Government employees to send Official SMS quickly and access rich features of contact books. 1.1 Major features at a glance:-

SMS can be sent in all languages and all over the country (India) Contact Book and its management (creation, edition and deletion of contact) and bulk contact uploading



Group SMS: you can send an SMS to a group of contacts



Group SMS management (creation, edition, deletion and sharing of groups of contacts)



Send SMS to official distribution lists managed by moderators, i.e. SMS to such distribution lists will be sent only after approval of moderators.



To search contact details of government employees and send it to your mobile handset



Control through your phone when you can't access web console

1.2 Additional Features:-

We can schedule message and draft SMS for sending it later. We can also have a record of number of sent SMS. You can also insert mobile numbers into a file with the message to send directly from the list.

2. How to Login to quickSMS To login in to the quickSMS Portal, do the following: Step1. Please open Enter your government official email id and password to login. An OTP will be received on registered mobile no.

Step2. Enter the OTP (One time password).

Note: The received OTP can be entered four times in eight hours. Also if your OTP is lost, you have an option to resend it twice and if it does not work it can be regenerated twice.

Send a New message

3.1 Send SMS

1. QuickSMS gives a facility to send SMS. 2. The message can be sent to a group of people or a distribution list which is pre defined by selecting the message sender Id from the drop down. 3. Select all the recipients in the group by checking the select box in front of the recipient option or else enter UID or official email address or 10- Digit mobile numbers. 4. You can also select a contact from the contact book. 5. Enter your message content in which ever language you need to enter. Click on the “typing in other languages”, you will be redirected to a page where the drop down for languages will have all the languages in which you want your message should appear(Predefined character length- 2000 character per message) 6. A scheduler enables to set your date and time to send messages later. 7. SMS can be either be sent or emailed to mailbox or saved as a draft

4. Sent SMS The messages which are sent using the registered id can be saved and viewed later. But there is limit of viewing your sent SMS. You can only view the last 10 saved sent SMS.

The count of total SMS sent from your account The history of total messages sent for last 3 months The message can also be forwarded as required by clicking on the forward button next to the message displayed.

It will redirect the window to the home page where you can again add the mobile number or user id of the person to whom the message is being forwarded.

4.1 SMS Settings When sending a SMS a display name or a display number from which a message can float is required, a choice to keep either both or have one option from the below: 1. 2.

Your name will be masked while sending a SMS which will be displayed on the phone. An option to display only the number on a SMS can also be chosen.

5. Draft SMS While drafting a new message, there is an option to draft an SMS which can be saved to use later. A sample message can be drafted which can be sent later. You can also search your messages which were saved in the draft folder by using the search tab given.

Also, there is a limitation of saving the messages in the draft folder. Only 10 drafts can be saved.

6. Scheduled SMS   

Click on new message and then enter the choice as (group, multiple group or distribution list) or enter any recipients UID or official email address or 10- Digit mobile number. Now enter the message content (restricted to 2000 characters). You can now schedule your SMS using “Schedule Date and time” option. A Calendar with date and time will be displayed.

Note: - Please enter the scheduling time that is between 35 minutes to next 3 days from now While drafting a new message, if you have saved any message to be delivered later or have scheduled it using the date and time stamp, then the list will be displayed in the scheduled SMS tab for you to view it. Message content Recipients Scheduled Time Action There is an option to update the scheduled date and time.(While using the update button you will be redirected to the New message window where you can update the scheduled time and date).

7. Contact Book 7.2 Contact Book Management You can add your contacts here. Click on contact book you will be redirected to contact book management page. Add the details like (department name, your name, your 10- digit mobile number and your email address). Click on the add button which will display a message that your contact has been added successfully. You can add multiple contacts here, which will be displayed in the list below. The list of contacts can be saved and deleted.

8. Manage Group 8.1 Group Management 1. Enter the name of the group as desired. 2. Then add the group. 3. The group contact with the name will be displayed in tabular form. 4. Various actions can be performed after creating a group. a) Import a contact from the contact book b) Share the group c) Upload a group { This will redirect you to the bulk upload option where you can upload a list of contacts in a file(file format- .txt & .csv and file size- 4MB)} d) You can save a group detail by using the “Save group” option. e) If any group is to be deleted, it can be done by using “Delete group” option.

9. Bulk Upload 9.1. Bulk SMS This facility of quick SMS allows users to upload contacts in bulk through a specific file type i.e. .txt. There is also a size limit of the file which is to be uploaded. It has to be less than or equals to 4 MB.

9.2. Bulk Contact 9.2.1 Upload file to fill your contact book You can upload a file to which will consist of contacts. These contacts will be managed by quickSMS as contact book. If you want to upload a list of contacts you can do so by uploading a file in the given format (Size limit: 4MB and Type: txt & csv)

9.3 Bulk groups and contacts 9.3.1 Upload file to fill your contact book and Groups You can upload a file to which will consist of contacts for creating groups and their contacts. If you want to upload a list of contacts you can do so by uploading a file in the given format (Size limit: 4MB and Type: txt & csv)

10.1 Allowed shared users The facility of adding a delegate and giving the person the rights to send message on one’s behalf is also there in the features of quick SMS

10.2 Send Mobile Numbers to your Handset  

If you want to have the details of the mobile number from which you are registered you can just enter a single UID or email address to which you want to receive the details. Click on send mobile number to your handset or send mobile number to you email, you will receive the information as desired.

Recent Logins

11.1 quickSMS Logins Login to your quickSMS by using your login credentials, your 10 recent logins will be preserved and you can view it under the tab “Recent Logins- quickSMS logins”. It displays the IP address from which you have login in to the account, with login date and time. If you want delete the history then you can do so under the actions option. Note: ONLY 10 MOST RECENT LOGINS ARE PRESERVED. IF YOU WANT TO PRESERVE AN OLDER LOGIN, BE SURE TO LOGOUT A MORE RECENT LOGIN.

Update Profile

12.1 User Profile 1. A user’s name and user id is displayed by default on the screen. 2. By using the “Update Profile” setting, changes can be made in the gender, designation and city, which will be displayed as the profile information in future. 3. It also has the total count of the SMS Sent and the count history of the SMS sent for last three months 4. It also has SMS settings where there are options to mask your name or number while sending an SMS.

13. Contact Us To have a communication regarding any query related to quick SMS services or to give any feedback regarding the services, users can reply in the text box given.

14. Glossary  Group- A list of phone numbers together makes a group. If a user wants to send a message to multiple users then a group can be created 

Distribution list- A list of senior members meant for official communication. Message sent to a distribution list is moderated before approval.

 OTP- A one-time password (OTP) is a password that is valid for only one login session or transaction, on a computer system or other digital device.
