Introduction TA-10 The Tablet Friability / Abrasion Tester is designed to accept a left-hand drum. Two drums are available (a) for friability and (b) for abrasion The test parameters are entered via a touch sensitive keypad in conjunction with a LCD display. Two modes of operation are available either based on (a) time (hours, minutes and seconds) or (b) number of drum revolutions. All electronic and electric standards correspond to the latest requirements, namely EMV and VDE 0.100 respectively.
TA-20 The TA-20 is basically the same as the TA-10 above but is equipped with two drums corresponding to the left and right hand sides of the instrument.
Warning • Pay attention that no loose clothing or long hair gets caught and coiled up in the rotating drum or the drum axis.
Important notes for the protection of the environmental • Please pay attention, that remaining test samples will only be destroyed according to the valid regulations for the protection of the environmental

Unpacking Please unpack the instrumentation carefully and check for any damage in transit. If any damage has been sustained (even, if only to the outer packing), please advise the carrier or forwarding agent immediately.
Servicing Hints The drums and lids are made of high-quality acrylic and are therefore sensitive to agressive detergents. Only use detergents that are suitable for acrylics: alcohol or alcoholic detergents may cause mechanical stress and damage. No other routine servicing is required.

Key functions Used in conjunction with the key, this key is used to set the time of operation required (when in Timed Oerations Mode). The maximum setting is 9 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds. The preset time is permanently retained in the memory until a new time setting is input. During operation, the timer counts down until the preset time has elapsed ie., zero whereupon the unit switches off and the timer reverts to the preset time setting. The same key can be used for displaying the preset time during operation.
Used in conjunction with the key, this key is used to set the number of revolutions required (when in No. of Revolutions Mode) and is infinitrly adjustable between 0 and 99,999 rpm. The prest number of revolutions is permanently retained in the memory until a new setting is input. During operation, the counter counts down until the preset number of revolutions has elapsed ie., zero whereupon the unit switches off and the counter reverts to the preset time setting. The same key can be used for displaying the preset number of revolutions during operation.
Used to set the time or number of revolutions required. After each depression of this key (confirmation), the position of the display is moved sequentially to the right commencing with the digit on the far left of the display. The current position being set is indicated by "blinking". When setting time, each digit refers to hours, minutes and seconds respectively: when in revolutions mode, it refers to actual numbers corresponding to 99999 revolutions.
The value of each setting or digit is set be means of the + or - keys.

Calibration All instruments are calibrated prior to their leaving the factory (see protocol supplied). If recalibration is required, it can be achieved as follows:
Checking the testing time The test time can be checked using a calibrated and traceable stop watch. Please note the tolerances to be found in the technical specification on Page 2 of this Instruction Manual.
Checking the driving speed Verification of the drive speed can be confirmed using a suitable calibrated and traceable or by physically counting the number of revolutions in a minute.
If the results are outside the indicated tolerances please consult our SERVICE department on telephone number 06104/690339.
