Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App The ParentVUE application allows parents to stay informed and connected by providing day-to-day insight into their students’ academic experience by viewing class and assignment grades, class schedules, attendance and calendars displaying class assignments and Fees. 1. Tap the ParentVUE

to open.

2. When using the application for the first time, users are required to type the district URL. Type this URL, https://ParentVUE.vbcps.com, and tap the Test button.

Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App 3. Once the connection is successful, Virginia Beach City Public Schools will display at the top of the application. Parents need to type their ParentVUE Mobile App user id and password to log in the application. (Subsequent uses of the app will only require parents to type their ParentVUE Mobile App user id and password and tap Login.)

4. The Student List screen opens.

Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App STUDENT LIST 1. The Student List screen displays all students connected to the parent. a. Tap the line of the desired student to view that student’s information. Android Users: Clicking the Show Events button provides no information at this time 2. The Preferences icon allows the user to set a marker for course assignment grades below a selected threshold value. a. Tap the icon to open the Preferences window.

Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App PREFERENCES Android Users: Option not available 1. Tap Preferences icon from the Navigation Screen. a. Grade Book - enter a threshold value to display a red arrow when a course assignment grade is below that value. b. Reminders - to have the capability to add reminders to your local device in Grade Book you must have Use Reminders setting selected and the number of days and assignment due date time. (At this time VBCPS is not using Bell Schedule Time) c. Select Save

1. The Navigation Screen is a menu of the functions available. Tap the option to view available information. Android Users: Clicking the Events button provides no information at this time

While using the app, the Navigation button in the upper left hand corner on any screen will return the user back to the Navigation Screen.

Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App CALENDAR 1. Tap Calendar option from the Navigation Screen to display the current month calendar. a. Tap Today button to go to today’s class assignments.

2. The Calendar icon in the up right hand corner will toggle the user between the monthly calendar displaying and not displaying. a. icon displays assignments for that day.

3. The Reminders button allows a user to enter a reminder that will display upon login. Android Users: Option not available

+ sign at right to add reminder.

b. The Add Reminders Screen is displayed i. Type the Message and Select Date and Time for the reminder to display. ii. Tap the Save button

iii. The Reminders Screen will now display the reminder. Parents can add their own reminders, which save to the parent’s local device. Android Users: Personal reminders not available

Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App ATTENDANCE 1. Tap the Attendance option from the Navigation Screen to display the Attendance Screen. Attendance displays all the days the student was marked absent or tardy, along with the reason associated with each entry. a. Tap the > to the right of the date to display all attendance for the day b. The Legend button provides an explanation of the icons used in the Attendance Screen identifying the reason for the absence. c. The Summary button displays totals by period at the bottom of the list along with the reason associated with each entry. Android Users: Selecting Summary causes the application to stop unexpectedly. Note: Throughout the various ParentVUE screens, teacher names associated with classes display with the icon, which allows users to email the teacher from within the application.

Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App GRADE BOOK 1. Tap Grade Book option from the Navigation Screen. Select a Reporting Period. Grades for that Reporting Period display. Android Users: Select the Report Period to switch Report Periods. a. Tapping the (share application icon) allows users to send an email from within the application. Android Users: Option not available b. Tap the class line to see the Assignment Screen for the selected class.

Synergy ParentVUE Mobile App CLASS SCHEDULE 1. Tap Class Schedule option from Navigation Screen. Select Reporting Period for middle school students or Semester for high school students. The Class Schedule Screen lists the course title, room number and teacher for each class. Android Users: Select the Change button to switch Reporting Periods.

FEE 1. Tap Fee option from Navigation Screen. The Fee screen displays the Balance, Date, Amount, Fee Payment and Balance. a. Click the > under the Balance column for Fee Detail
