Few of our success stories…….. An international association of buyers wanted to establish responsible sourcing almost 300 suppliers in India through a ethical supply chain standard . It was an uphill task to manage so many suppliers & implement the requirements in the suppliers operations. The requirements of the ethical standard were drawn as per the ETI base code & ILO conventions. The audits covers all the aspects of sustainability viz Social, Welfare, Safety & Environment. The standard is based on the following principles:

Freely choosen employment

Child & Young Workers

Right to collective bargaining

Wage Information

Working Hours

Discrimination

Regular Employment

Disciplinary Action

Health & Safety

Environmental aspects including soil, water, agrochemicals, waste & biodiversity

Verde has successfully audited the suppliers based on the standard which has resulted in the improved performance of the suppliers on one hand & ensured responsible sourcing from the nd buyers’s end. Besides the 2 party auditing the handholding approach & the trainings conducted by Verde enabled the suppliers to comply with the requirements of the standards as well as the statutory norms. A globally renowned large FMCG as part of its commitment & vision of becoming an entirely responsible sourcing company wanted to ensure the same in its mineral salt procurement. However the FMCG was unable to do so in absence of a guideline & standard specifically for this sector . Although the company has its own verification audits & guidelines it the same to be developed independently which would be unbiased & at the same time lend credibility to the standard as well as the audit protocols. Besides the FMCG had developed a guideline for the miners & mineral salt suppliers the same was not a auditable standard. This it was really difficult to measure the compliance level at the suppliers end. Verde has partnered with an International Development Organisation to develop a global auditable code for the miners & mineral salt extractors. This International Responsible code is applicable to all the types of mines i.e. large, medium & small. An audit protocol along with checklist for assessments along with an Implementation guideline was also developed by Verde. The entire project thus enabled the possibility of responsible sourcing for the FMCH & hence its commitment to the same.

Few of our success stories…….. A globally renowned large producer in the Food & Beverage sector was facing various buyers audits each having its own standard & requirements. Besides the supply chain audits the producer was also certified to some management system standards which again is different from the requirements of the supply chain standards & guidelines. The organisation was facing problem due to the cost & time spend for each audit & then managing the corrective action plan of each of them separately. In all, the company was at a loss for solution to manage the non compliances of all the audits which would not only enable them to manage those effectively & efficiently but save cost & time by implementing the requirements of all multiple standards in an integrated manner. The integrated operational tool was developed through integration of the following standards: • ISO 14001:2004 • OHSAS 18001:2007 • ISO 22000:2005 • SA 8000 • Ethical Tea Partnership

• Trustea • Sustainable Agricultural Network To solve all the problems, Verde has developed an integrated operational tool for managing the supply chain /buyers requirements along with its management system .The manual has facilitated the reduction of cost & time for managing their different kinds of buyers & management system by reducing the rework on the requirements of the audits. Above all it benefited the company by providing the management an overview for managing all their non compliances through a single dashboard An international facilitating agency created a sustainable sourcing programme for the textile industry. The programme was envisaged for the Indian Ministry of Textiles & was a first-of-itskind industry-owned and supplier driven initiative, aimed to facilitate and prepare the Indian apparel industry, especially small and medium enterprises, towards becoming socially responsible. The programme implementation as well the audits was really challenging since the programme was mainly aimed to bring the medium & small apparel manufacturers into the main stream of supply chain. Lack of prior exposure to such requirements & a system in the place made the task even more difficult. The audit standard covered all the three aspects of sustainability i.e. social compliance, labour welfare & environment. Inspite of all these challenges, Verde has successfully carried out about 75 such audits in the apparel manufacturing factories. The audits which were again conducted in the Verde methodology was able to bring out the major highlights in the existing practice & systems in the suppliers & thus put forth inputs that enabled the association to take further action with respect to enhancing the performance of the suppliers & in turn ensure responsible sourcing .

Few of our success stories…….. An association in the Agriculture, Food & Beverage Industry envisioned to incorporate sustainable supply chains amongst its 600 large, medium & small suppliers . A sustainable procurement programme was developed on the basis of which the members intended to evaluate the suppliers by verifying their compliance level. The implementation of the programme was difficult since majority of the suppliers belonged to small holders or farmers who has no idea about sustainability as well the method to implement the same. It was also a challenging task to educate them about the requirements & create a simple tool which would enable them to implement the same . Verde was entrusted to create a Implementation guideline not only for the large & medium producers but the small holders as well. For the large & medium suppliers an implementing guide was created which provided the suppliers with necessary guidance to meet the compliances & thus opened business opportunities by involving them for a longer run in supplying to their buyers. However ,for the small holders, a special tool was created which was not only easier for them to understand but implement as well. Besides this a course along with some posters & pictures were designed for this category which empowered them to execute the criteria given in the programme.

Verde has thus been able to establish a responsible supply chain involving both multiple buyers as well as suppliers. A global beverage manufacturing giant with multiple locations wished to bring all its manufacturing operations & bottlers cum franchisee owners in a same platform by implementing its own supply chain protocols as well as develop their capacity in these aspects. The supply chain standard included Health & Safety Risk Assessment, Fire Safety, Electrical Safety & Environmental aspects. Besides the standard also included all statutory & legal requirements.

The supply chain assessments included •Organisational Standard •Fire Safety •Electrical Safety •Factories Acts & Rules •Environment Protection Act •Waste Management Act •Water Act nd

Verde succefully conducted the 2 party audit /assessment based on the requirements & provided a corrective action plan which enabled the suppliers/owners to incorporate the same in their operations. Verde also conducted training programmes at the sites & contributed to the capacity building of the resources.

Few of our success stories……..

A large FMCG ventured into a new business of starting its own brand of milk & milk product suppy. The project was also endeavored as a CSR programme of the company since it involved a huge number of villagers who were provided milk at the milk collection centre set up the FMCG & thus providing a livelihood option to the villagers. The objective of the project was to implement GMP /GHP & FSSAI requirements & compliances in the milk supplied by the villagers. Verde was entrusted as the capacity development & implementer in the project wherein the villagers were trained about the GMP & FSSAI requirements. The project proved to be successful & the FMCG has started its manufacturing of the intended products. Thus a food safety supply chain which included a critical product as well as suppliers was thus established.

One of the world’s largest distillery & brewery brand intended to mitigate the Health & Safety Risks in all its manufacturing sites including its franchisee owners or bottlers. The objective was to bring out the risks involved in the operations, mitigate the same & thus establish a robust supply chain which not only make the suppliers compliant & safe but ensure business improvement as well. Verde carried out the Health & Safety Risks assessments in those sites & thus provided the suppliers with a strong tool to look into its major risks, prioritise & address the same. The task brought improvement in the suppliers operation & thus ensured sustainability in its business .The parent company in turn was assured of a better supply chain & business performance.

A large global cement manufacturing company with multiple manufacturing sites across India had a major challenge of ensuring logistics safety in its supply chain. It was a “one of its kind” requirement wherein the system had to be developed, implemented & assessed for compliance verification.

Verde was entrusted with the entire project which included development of the standards, checklists, assessment protocol , capacity building for all the sites & 2nd party audit at all the locations.T he project has improved the business performance of the cement manufacturer & established responsible sourcing by improving the logistic safety of the suppliers

Verde carried out SMETA “B” member audit for a printing company which is a supplier to a large multinational. Verde SEDEX audit was well appreciated by the company & the report was accepted due to the audit being carried out by Verde expert professionals with huge experience The supplier thus “happily” continued with its business & became a part of a responsible supply chain
