POSITION: Sustainability Manager POSITION SUMMARY: The Sustainability Co-ordinator position mandates the implementation of sustainable initiatives and educational opportunities for residents, as well as raising awareness concerning sustainable living within residence. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Report directly and be accountable to the President • Be responsible for the management and coordination of all ResSoc sustainability initiatives, including but not limited to Weekend Clean-Up Crew, residence vermicomposting, and any other special interests • Represent the ResSoc to campus-wide and sustainability initiatives and act as a liaison between the ResSoc and sustainability groups seeking to work with residences at the discretion of the president and General Assembly • Audit the ResSoc from a sustainability perspective to ensure that unnecessary expenses are avoided • Through the use of the Green Team, look for new and innovative ways to make the ResSoc and residences more sustainable through educational campaigns, when possible REQUIRED BACKGROUND: • Must live in residence and be a member of the Residence Society. SPECIAL SKILLS: • Ability to motivate staff and generate enthusiasm • Ability to work in groups on committees or at the house level to solve problems, generate ideas, and complete projects • Experience working with finances DECISION-MAKING: Judgment of the general attitudes and/or values of the house and his/her constituent residents in order to formulate, when necessary, a vote which effectively represents the views of the residents FINANCIAL COMPENSATION While being a leader in your community and gaining valuable life experience, you are also reaping the rewards of a job – an honorarium of $500 per academic semester.
