Food for Thought

“If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving is not for you!”

1st November, 51 years !st November, 17 years 3rd November, 3 years 7th November, 27 years

The Black Spy Brian Richards was in an advert for Swap Mart, which implied that it is the Karryinup Rotary Club’s project. Jerry Pilcher wouldn’t shake hands with Barry Cook. Neil Grant thought that we didn’t have a meeting this week because of the Conti’s wine tasting, and that next Thursday would be the 1st November. President Di paid for talking on the phone while driving. All cricketers or followers of the game or anyone who could spell the word or even had killed a cricket paid to help out the Marsh brothers. Mike McAuliffe knew how many more sleeps till he could have a drink – none. Neil Hunt got 50c back for helping out the bulletin editor. Bob Phelps told a lady at Swap Mart that we are open every week except when the shopping center is open. Bill Nuttall couldn’t answer the question “When did you stop beating your wife?”, he had a heavily bandaged hand. Lyn Cavanagh has been eating too many beautiful cakes cooked by exchange student Marie Neil Darch was thinking hard to try and give the Sgt some fines, but there was “nothing”. The question is; was he thing hardly or was he hardly thinking? Isabelle Chu is challenging Bruce Bennett’s record of always coming late. Bruce was fined for not protecting his record. Anyone who is or has been in a union (which included the matrimonial union) paid for the Health Services Union debacle. Alan Bennett paid because the Sgt hasn’t had anything from him in a while. Visitor Vince Panajia was unfortunate to be sitting next to the Sgt, When he heard the Sgt pondering how to extract money from the Rotarians, he offered a simple bit of advice “just ask” that cost him a dollar. All the innocent saints and angels at the end table paid. Andrew Fisher told me to download a free trial of publisher, which took one and a half hours to download and never worked Bob Phelps has been moonlighting as a gardener All paid because of Super storm Sandy in America. Josie Kopsen forgot Tom Appleyard’s 51st Rotary birthday Dave Taylor paid for calling interactions on the internet “Social Networking” when what we do face to face, chatting, smiling, talking is really social networking.

Meeting of 1st November - Guest Speakers Chairman of the day, Neil Grant introduced Kyle Woodward and Tamlyn Pickett from Harvey World Travel Whitfords. Tamlyn outlined many of the advantages of dealing through an accredited Travel Agent, namely: Without a Travel Agent you are on your own. She has four clients caught up in the storm in New York. Very difficult in these circumstances to try and work on your own in a strange city with minimal communications available. Provide a one stop shop – from sorting out visas to flights and accommodation. Save you the trouble of having to do it all Have a network of suppliers and buying power ensures the best deals. Can handle re-scheduling etc whilst you are on your trip – allows you to enjoy your holiday Provide advice on local conditions, food, accommodation etc A 5% discount for Seniors Handle issues in case of insolvency – gave the ship Tamlyn Pickerill Athena and associated Company as an example. Kyle went on to reinforce Tamlyn’s argument. A vote of thanks was given by Neil Hunt who remembered Kyle as a past pupil of Churchlands. After which President Di asked Tamlyn to draw the raffle. The raffle was won by Joe Angi who immediately gave the bottle of red to Mike McAuliffe who has been ‘dry’ since the 24th September. Kyle Woodward

He is currently in RPH awaiting a hip replacement next Mon/Tuesday. He is okay and in good spirits but bored.
