The QMT is responsible to ensure the launch of new projects, that the commodities under his responsibility are delivered on time, in the right quantity and with the expected quality. Launch Team leaders are responsible from development to EOP.

The IPO Americas is responsible to approve the PPAP of products with regard to their function, dimension, cosmetic and various specifications.

Once per month the suppliers are rated for a competence and performance index, in a worldwide system called LPKM (Lieferanten Performance Kompetenz Management), this tool is used for preventive and reactive activities as well as escalation process which may lead even to a business on hold.

When a problem is found in any of the BMW assembly plants, the IPO Americas is involved through a PQM - Parts Quality Management process in which the parts are sent to the supplier, root cause is found, contention and definitive solutions are defined. MI-NA. 28.03.2012

If the supplier is sending parts out of specification, he is measured through a non conformance PARTS PER MILLION indicator - called PPM in the industry. Supplier PPM Rating is basis for escalation process which may include business on hold.

The IPO Americas is responsible to control and follow up on warranty issues that are product and/or process related. Root causes are identified and measures implemented. The so called GWK are tracked on basis of defects per 100 vehicles and in Euros per part. MI-NA. 28.03.2012
