Congregational Church Bible School Starts June 29th

The annual Vacation Bible School of the Congregational Church will be conducted Monday through Friday for two weeks beginning June 29 through July 10. Classes will be organized for children who have completed any grade from kindergarten through Grade 6. A nursery or pre-school class is being considered if proper supervision for the same can be assured. Parents are requested to make a pre-school registration for their children if possible by calling the parsonage, UPtown 8-3127.

Fitffy/ relatives gathered at the Torn* Road home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. Jones on Father's Day, .June 21, The occassion was a dual celebration of Mr. Jones' 70th birthday and Father's Day < for eleven fathers. Present for the afternoon and evening, during which a delicious potluck dinner was served, were three sons: Raymond V., Eldon £.,- and ; Leonard B. and wives; •three • , daughters, Mrs. Viola Slane, Mrs. Vianna Davison and Mrs. lnez« Ansley and their hus•> bapejs; Twenty-two of Mr. and Mrs.' Jones' 30 grandchildren and nine of their 12 great-grandchildren. PEGS OF PINCKNEY The Pinckney Extension Group will have a potluck picnic for the members and their families on June 27, 5:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hall, EM-36. Please bring own table service, dish to pass, and any beverage desired for your children.

The Edwin Sprout family went to Mackinac Bridge Friday returning Sunday. Ctrfet Richard Wylie and Jim Massey and friends took in the square dance at Stockbridge Thursday night and had a big time. Bill Miller is pitching for the Cubs in the Junior League at Howell and Gordie playing second base. They beat the Braves the first game 22 to 0.

The county softba.ll team continued their winning ways list week and with a strengthened team beat General Motors proving grounds 5 to 3 in the county league at Howell Friday night, Carl Johnson of Dexter was in center, Robert Ludtke, of Gregory and Alma College in right and Bill Krause, air pilot of Fox Pointe caught, Scot Barrett allowed 7 scattered hits but at least 3 of them were due to poor fielding. He only walked two men. _ ^ _ _

General Motors scored the tint inning when Stein got a hit and scored when Dick Darrow fumbled Brighams drive. Pinckney took the lead the 2nd when Gentile got a hit, stole ieeond and scored from 3rd on a passed ball. Darrow walked, stole second and scored from 3rd on Wakefields bunt. Then added 2 more the 5th when Wakefield got a hit, took 3rd when Ludtke bunted and the catchers throw hit him in the back and scored on Krauses long fly, Ludtke scored when Barrett hit to short. They scored again in the 6th when Hewlett walked and scored on 2 infield outs, General Motors had men on every inning but found Barrett hard to hit when hits were needed. They had 9 men left on bases. They got another run the 6th when Gentile misjudged Hagmans drive and it went for a home run. They made their biggest threat the 7th. Gentile did not hang on to Hutchins drive. Stein flied out. Krueger struck out but was safe when the catcher did not hang onto the 3rd strike, Minock hit to right scoring Hutchins. Brigham flied to short, Miller hit a long one to center which looked like a home run but Johnson make a spectacular catch of it ending the game. Spencer Titus Dies Suddenly Monday Spencer Titus, of 460 N. Unadilla St., died here shortly after 12:00 pjn. Monday of a heart attack while at work at the Detroit Die Set factory here. He came here from Munith about 20 yean ago and was fint employed by the Grand Trunk Railroad. He later went to the Detroit Die Set Corp. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, Helen, a son, Gordon and a daughter, Laurel. Also a brother, Richard, of Munith. The funeral will be Thursday, at 10 a.m. Rev. George Horkan officiating. Burial in St Mary's

Salt of Dis Set Plant Not Final The report is that the local Detroit Die Set Corp., established here in 1939 by Clare Reason of Detroit and which has changed hands several times but has been owned the past 10 years by Leonard Fisher of Detroit has been sold to the Standard Die Set Co. of Detroit. Mr. Fisher recently suffered a stroke. The superintendents have been Gerald Reason, Eric Krahn, Oscar Beck and at present William' Mustachia. The factory employs about 50 men now but have had more. Mr. Mustatia told us Monday that the sale is not yet final.
