Your Pastor’s Heart December 2016

“Christmas – The Silence and the Sound” “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.” Luke 2:19 (NIV) Christmas is filed with sights and sounds that are so unique to Advent. There are even those aromas that remind us of the season. I truly love the Christmas vibe and atmosphere. If anyone experienced the true Silence and Sound of Christmas it was Mary. The Sound was that of the infant Christ’s cry. There were no carols, no brass or stringed instruments; only the sounds of a newborn baby and the occasional reminder of the presence of livestock. Then – there was the Silence – the solitude that every mother relishes to simply gaze at the miracle in her arms with quiet thoughts of joy, amazement and anticipation! I am filled with anticipation as we worship during Advent this year. My sermon series is entitled “Christmas – The Silence and the Sound” in concert with our Christmas music production of the same title. What makes this unique is that each Sunday my sermon topic will correspond with the themes of our Christmas musical. The purpose is to weave together the message and the music so that the music production on December 18th will tie our 2016 Christmas message together. Like you, I am so grateful for the Silence and Sounds of Christmas! I believe that God is preparing to bless us in so many ways this Christmas season. My prayer is that discouraged and defeated hearts will be drawn to us; that you and I will be God’s messengers of hope and peace; that person, after person, after person will surrender their lost and weary souls to Jesus, the hope of the world!

God of our creation, thank you for Jesus, our salvation! Merry Christmas Hatcher Church!

Pastor Greg Week of Prayer for International Mission December 4 – 11, 2016

Help the

Starting in 1888, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering was established to empower the International missions efforts for Southern Baptists. After more than a century, the annual offering continues its steady growth. Your giving enables missionaries to be sent to make disciples and multiply churches among unreached peoples and places for the glory of God. Empower missionaries to do God’s work around the world. If you are uncertain about the needs, consider the amount needed based on the average cost of supporting a missionary: $58,200 a year (average); $4,850 a month ; $1,119 a week ; or $159 a day National LMCO Goal: $155 Million Hatcher’s LMCO Offering Goal: $4,000 “You have … heard about this hope in the message of truth, the gospel that gospel resound has come to you. It is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, just as it has among you since the day you heard it… “ COLOSSIANS 1:5-6

PRAY DURING THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS There is great power in prayer. Using the brochure in your Week of Prayer materials you and the entire church can pray for specific missionaries sharing the gospel around the world.

GIVE TO THE LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING In partnership with you, IMB is able to send missionaries so the gospel will resound throughout the world. Lottie Moon Offering is a vital part of the work–100% of the money goes to sending & sustaining missionaries.
