Distance between the CORSICA island and mainland

Corsica is at around 100 nautical miles south-east from the French shore; the shortest distance is between points of Cap Martin and Calvi. It will take you 5 hours approximately to get there on board of a motor yacht cruising at average speed of 20 kn.

St-Florent To visit:  The cathedral of the Nebbio region in St Florent, Santa Maria Assunta, built by the Pisans in the 12th Century. One of the island’s most beautiful cathedrals.  The Old town, with its narrow streets and vibrant bar terraces. Relax in one of the waterfront cafés and watch the yachts of the rich arrive at the marina.  Countryside of Conca D’Oro with Oletta village perched high above offering spectacular views over the gulf. You will find workshops and cellars of around 10 local artisans.  The Désert des Agriates is a landscape of wild maquis and rocky cliffs. Take a boat trip to one of its beaches: Saleccia and Lodo . The spectacular beach of Saleccia is a tropical dream of silver sand and turquoise sea, inaccessible by road.  Spend a leisurely afternoon visiting a vineyard in the pretty village of Patrimonio, and tasting the superb wines.  Worth visiting is Nonza, a flower-garnished slate roofed village, which seems to have sprouted from its craggy foundations. The beach here is black.

Calvi We suggest that you start visiting the island from the port and town of Calvi whose history dates back to antiquity. Calvi is famous for its citadel of XIII century, whose walls give spectacular view over the bay. L’Ile Rousse

Ile Rousse Beaches Ile Rousse is famous for it’s beaches of white pure sand and crystal clear sea. The local restaurants offer a big choice of fresh delicious sea food To visit:  Place Paoli and local market which opens every morning.  Beaches: Lozari and l'Anse de Peraïola, where the rivers are falling into sea.  L'île de la Pietra with it’s light house and ancient tower.

St-Florent St-Florent is situated in a beautiful bay, sheltered between the wild mountains of Cap Corse and the magnificent, untamed Désert des Agriates. Founded by the Romans St Florent later grew to be a flourishing medieval port of Genovese influence.

Scandola natural reserve and Girolata Bay

Scandola is a natural reserve protected by UNESCO for its unique flora and faunae and diversity of fish and birds. Species are unique for this place. Magnificent site, absolutely to visit!

Sanguinary islands and Ajaccio

Sanguinary islands Sanguinary Archipelago stands guard at the mouth of the bay of Ajaccio. Four islands are famous for it’s stunning crimson light at sunset. The biggest island measures up to 80 m and crowned with a light house. Breathtaking view!

Ajaccio

Ajaccio is the big port and city on south east of Corsica and a very popular summer resort. Napoleon Bonaparte was born here in 1769. City visiting:  The old city and Place Maréchal Foch  National Bonaparte Museum  Musée Fesch - highly regarded collection of Italian Renaissance painting.

Propriano and Bonifacio

On your way to Bonifacio drop your anchor at the picturesque bay of Propriano – Golfe du Valinco , Campomoro beach (Capo di Moro) and its Genovese middle-age tower, Tizzano bay in Sartene and Calanque de Conca bay.

Bonifacio

Bonifacio is a medieval fortified city of XII built on cliffs of limestone. The Bonifacio bay was first populated back in 5000 B.C.

Bonifacio Sites to visit:

 Staircase of the King of Aragon (l’escalier du Roy d’Aragon), - built in 1420, and ac cording to legend, in one night only!  Les chemins de ronde – fortified city tour.  Le cimetière marin and its splendid view over the bay.  L’église Saint Dominique - gothic church of XIII century, and La Loggia – medieval justice and execution place .

Bonifacio

Natural sea reserve Bouches de Bonifacio and la Grotte du Dragon – are the must to see. If you like snorkeling and diving, ask your Captain to bring you to Lavezzi Island.

Porto Vecchio

Porto Vecchio An extremely popular resort , famous for its beaches, night clubs and 5star hotels. Jet-setters and night –lifers are very welcome here. To visit:  Beaches - north of P. Vecchio: Cala Rossa, Saint-Cyprien, Pinarello, - south : Palombaggia, Bocca di l' oru, Santa-Giulia.  Old City of Porto Vecchio and citadel – Le Bastion di a Funtana Vechju, Le Bastion de France, L’impasse Ettori.  Night Clubs: Via Notte, Ranch’o , Le patio Loundge bar.

SARDINIA

SARDINIA Blessed with a mild climate and set in crystal waters , Sardinia offer you a memorable experience, where moments of complete relaxation can be combined with the exploration of the island many cultural, artistic and natural treasures. Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean and it was invaded by the Greeks, Romans, Phoenicians Genoese and Spaniards. The Sardinians are Some of the Oldest People in the World, due to the very relaxed and healthy lifestyle. Mooring and Costs: Generally speaking, Sardinia is an expensive place to sail with mooring fees starting at €80 per night and rising to several hundred Euros per night if you wish to rub shoulders with the rich and famous. Weather and winds: There are two winds here which promise great conditions for dynamic sailing; the Sahara wind Chirocco (as per the Sirocco in Greece) and the Maestrale (as per the meltemi in Greece), which blows down from the North. The Maestrale mostly blows along the west coast, a very powerful W to NW wind; while a S to SE wind prevails on the east coast.

Costa Smeralda

Come down south from Porto Vecchio and start your circumnavigation around Sardinia from Costa Smeralda – the home of the world most beautiful beaches. Enjoy the translucent sea , then drop anchor in Marina di Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo, which attract many luxury yachts on summer.

Stintino and Asinara island The island of Asinara has a very peculiar history: for a long time it was inhabited by prisoners. Thanks to the long isolation Asinara's beaches are still unspoilt, dotted with the green of the Mediterranean and visited by white donkeys. A beautiful bay at the Asinara Island The beach of Cala d'Arena is probably the most beautiful of the island during the winter is divided in two by a small brook behind her, stands a tower dating from the sixteenth century coastal. The ruins of the monastery of the Camaldolensis friars are surrounded by granite rocks, there is Cala Sant’Andrea while to the north-east, near the only town on the island where they land and boats and ferries, is Cala d'Oliva, an ancient outpost. In the east, toward the bay dell, is located Cala di Sgombro di Dentro here there are beautiful coves sheltered from the wind, like Cala Serena. .

Alghero The old town of Alghero with good views from the old walls overlooking the harbour, an interesting cathedral in styles ranging from 1530s Gothic up to 20th century neo-classical, and an impressive Baroque church of San Francisco. Further afield, the Grotta di Nettuno is a remarkable stalactite-covered cave at the foot of cliffs near Capo Caccia about eight miles west of the harbour. It can be reached either by boat excursion from Alghero (in settled weather only) or from the road to Capo Caccia down the 656 steps of the Escala del Cabirol (goat's stairway). There are hourly guided tours through the cave system. The other principal attraction around Alghero is the Nuraghe di Palmavera, one of the most important Bronze Age sites in Sardinia, with the remains of a 14th century BC palace surrounded by a cluster of circular stone dwellings. Also nearby is the strange rock-cut necropolis of Anghelu Ruju, with its nearly 40 underground burial chambers representing the best examples of the so-called 'domus de janas' or 'fairies' houses' in Sardinia..

Ruins of Tharros and Mal di Ventre island 50 n.m. from Anghero and you will discover the city of Tharros. It was founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BC, followed by Punics, Romans, and eventually destroyed by Saracen raiders. The ruins and Church of St Giovanni are the must to visit, and , if you are lucky, you will see pink flamingos!

The microscopic Mal di Ventre island is admired by sailors and divers for its uncontaminated clear waters and nature diversity.

Carloforte and Calassata

Do not skip Calasetta – a small rural town on Sant’Antioco island, connected to mainland by causeway and renowned for superb beaches. Other destinations within a short call from Calasetta: Porto Vesme in Portoscuso, Marina Buggerru and Marine Cala Verde.

The legend has it that St Peter shipwrecked on the San Pietro island and taught locals how to fish tune. Carloforte is a very popular yacht charter stop on south-west of Sardinia, it has two comfortable marinas, safe in all winds. The food here is a combination of Ligurian Mediterranean and North African cuisine. Local specialities: Farinata – snack made of chickpea flour and olive oil, Cassola – fish soup, Cashca – couscous and local tuna.

Pula-Nora One of the most magical as well as diversified stretches of coastline in Sardinia is to be found in Pula. Balmy beaches and coves, Roman excavations and blindingly white sand dunes endow the area with its richness. Not far from Pula is the beach of Nora and a large Roman amphitheatre that lies directly on the sea and is used for a music festival in summer. The ruins of the amphitheatre are located at the tip of a small tongue of land jutting out into the sea that is dominated by a Spanish tower. This place is well worth a visit because of its lovely, open setting.

You may want to visit the capital – Cagliari, vibrant cultural and economic hub. You shall find everything here: 11 km of beaches, shabby streets of old city, museums, fascinating architecture, sailing regattas and contests. Enjoy!
