SUBSTITUTE TEACHER TRAINING INSTRUCTIONS As part of preparation for potential employment as a substitute educator, Kelly Educational Staffing (KES) offers free online professional development from EDTRAININGCENTER. This training: 

Is open to those who simply want to learn more about what is required of substitute teachers and/or develop their teaching skills.



Is recommended for those interested in applying for employment as a substitute educator with Kelly Services.



Is free—simply log onto the Web site, register, and complete the steps that follow.

As part of Kelly’s commitment to placing dedicated and qualified individuals in the classroom, KES uses this introductory vocational content to help substitutes learn about the profession. This training is also designed to impart knowledge that will help you become a successful substitute educator in any substitute teaching setting, and is not specific to assignments available through Kelly. As such, it is open to any person interested in developing their substitute teaching skills.   

Completion of this training is a prerequisite for employment with Kelly Educational Staffing. Completion of this training does not guarantee employment. You will not be paid for your time to complete the training.

Training Requirements [Return] If after you’ve completed the training applicable to your specific state and are interested in substitute teaching or paraprofessional/teacher aid roles available through Kelly, you must continue to the next step—which is to successfully complete the examination that accompanies the training. Your Kelly office/location may require you to present your Certificate of Completion as a prerequisite for employment. If you have not passed the Final Exam, please do not show up for the hiring meeting, as the Kelly representative will not be able to proceed in the hiring process without it.  2014 Kelly Services, Inc.

1. Go to http://www.EDTRAININGCENTER.com 2. Click the Kelly Educational Staffing logo link (upper left) 3. Click the Register button if you are newly registering (first time)

4. Enter your name, email and division (branch) by following the onscreen instructions. 5. Choose your own password and confirm. 6. Click Login. You have created your account. The email address and password combination you entered is your login information for the training. Follow the next step to locate and enroll in the KES Substitute Starter Training module specific to your state.

Locating/Enrolling in Your Training

NOTE: skip steps 1-3 below if you are continuing the initial registration process and are already logged in. 1. Go to http://www.EDTRAININGCENTER.com 2. Click the Kelly Educational Staffing logo (upper left) 3. Click the Login button and enter the username and password you created previously.

4. Click Learning > Browse for Training. Your KES Substitute Starter Training curriculum will appear at the top of the list. Click on the name of the training.

5. Click Request.

Please note: You have the option to complete other trainings in the catalog at your own expense if you wish. 6. The KES Substitute Starter Training program will be automatically added to your transcript.

7. Click on Open Curriculum to open the training program and then click the Launch option for each training segment.

Begin completing the curriculum by launching the Required Acknowledgement. Each Lesson will follow after you complete the previous lesson when you close the window per the onscreen directions. You must complete the training in the order that it appears. However, you don’t have to complete it all at one session – you can start and stop a lesson and resume where you left off as the program will ‘remember’ where you stopped and offer to return you to that portion of the training.

Resume Training in Progress

You do not have to complete the training in one session. You may train on your own schedule, logging out whenever you wish to stop. The program will ‘remember’ the work you’ve completed and where you left off. To return to training currently in progress, simply log in to the site by clicking the Kelly Educational Staffing link. Then click Login, enter your login ID and password and then launch training from the Your Transcript area by clicking the Open Curriculum link.

Print Your Certificate of Completion

Once you have completed the training material and passed the final exam, your certificate will be ready to print. It can be found with your training in your Transcript. Just click the training in the list on the Completed tab in your Transcript.

The Print Certificate link appears with the training record details.
