Study Abroad Scholarships Business Funding/Awards Travel Award Program-International Activities Fund All students participating in International Exchanges approved by the Alberta School of Business Undergraduate Programs Office are eligible for a $1,000 subsidy to help defray the costs of the exchange. Students are automatically eligible upon the being accepted by the host university, and going on the exchange. This is part of the on-going Travel Award Program. In addition, students with demonstrated financial need can apply for funding of $5,000 to support their participation in an exchange. Students must provide financial information to demonstrate financial need as this is the primary criterion on which this funding will be given. CEFE Family Enterprise Scholarships for International Exchange to EBS Field of Study: Business Value: $1,500 - $3,000 Number: 2 Conditions: To be awarded annually to Alberta School of Business undergraduate or MBA students who complete a minimum of one project, program, course, or seminar in the area of family enterprise during an exchange to the European Business School (EBS) in Germany. Preference will be given to students with a strong interest or prior experience in the field of family enterprise. The full sum of the scholarship will be awarded to successful applicants upon completion of the exchange with proof of the completed project/course/seminar provided. Donor: The Centre for Entrepreneurship & Family Enterprise (CEFE) is located within the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta. Its mandate is to develop and disseminate knowledge regarding the management of family enterprise, particularly in the contexts of entrepreneurialism and internationalization. Hong Kong-Canada Business Association Award for Int'l Student Exchange Field of Study: Business Value: $750 Number: 1 Conditions: To be awarded annually to an undergraduate or graduate student with satisfactory academic standing entering the second, third, or fourth year of a degree program in the Alberta School of Business. This award is granted in order to assist a student with the costs of undertaking study abroad at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as part of a University of Alberta degree. Recipient will be chosen on the basis of academic standing and financial need. Donor: Endowed by the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association Apply: By April 15 to the Undergraduate Programs Office, Alberta School of Business, Room 2-20. Applicants must also complete the International Student Exchange application form. Joseph & Melitta Kandler Scholarships for Int'l Student Exchange with Austria Field of Study: Business Value: $2,500 for one term of study; $4,000 for one year of study Number: Variable Conditions: To be awarded annually to students, undergraduate or graduate, intending to study on exchange for at least one semester, but ideally two semesters, at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Vienna, Austria. Students must be either a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident. Preference will be given to full-year exchange participants. Donor: Endowed by Dr Joseph Kandler, a native of Vienna, and a graduate of the Hochschule fuer Welthandel, now named Wirtschaftsuniversität, Vienna, who is a

former member of the Senate and Board of Governors of the University of Alberta. Melitta Kandler began her studies at the University of Graz, Austria and graduated with an MA from the University of Alberta. Yuichi Kurimoto Memorial Awards Field of Study: Bachelor of Commerce Value: Variable up to $20,000 Number: Variable Conditions: To be awarded annually to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce degree program, who have a demonstrated interest in Japan, on the basis of satisfactory academic standing and satisfactory Japanese language proficiency. Successful applicant(s) are welcome to use this scholarship to study at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business Administration in Aichi or at another Japanese university, Japanese company, and/or Japanese business organization. Donor: Endowed by Hiroshi Kurimoto, President, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business Administration in memory of Yuichi Kurimoto, first Japanese native son to earn a degree at the University of Alberta. The Award was also established in honour of the 40th Anniversary of Nagoya University of Commerce and Business Administration and celebrates the close partnership Nagoya and the University of Alberta have enjoyed over the past forty years. University of Alberta International Awards and Funding Education Abroad Individual Award Value: variable number of awards valued between $750 - $3,750 Deadline: January To apply, students must: 

be participating in an education abroad opportunity outside of Canada for a period of at least three weeks. Types of eligible programs include: o formal exchanges at approved partner institutions o faculty-led programs (course taught by UAlberta faculty abroad) o group programs led by partner institutions or third-party provider o internships, clinical rotations, research, coursework or volunteer opportunities abroad be an undergraduate or graduate student registered in a University of Alberta degree program have completed a minimum of *12 credits of UAlberta coursework by the application deadline (*15 credits if registered in the Faculty of Science) for undergraduate students; or have completed at least one term of graduate study by the application deadline for graduate students have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, with at least 2.7 in the most recently completed term for undergraduate students; or have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on the courses taken for graduate students

have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, with at least 2.7 in the most recently completed term Award recipients agree to perform one or more of the following activities during their study in Scotland: o tour of “Burns Country” o interview with a recognized authority on Robert Burns o take a course related to Robert Burns o write and present a paper to the Edmonton Burns Club on recipient’s impressions of Scotland and the life and works of Robert Burns

SOUTH KOREA Alberta-Korea Young Scholars Exchange Award Value: Variable, up to $3,000 Deadline: January To apply, students must:  

be participating in a study exchange for one academic year (fall and winter) choose to study at a UAlberta exchange partner institution in South Korea

be a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate student registered in a University of Alberta degree program have completed a minimum of *12 credits of UAlberta coursework by the application deadline (*15 credits if registered in the Faculty of Science) have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, with at least 2.7 in the most recently completed term

Other Funding: Export Development Canada International Business Scholarships EDC International Business Scholarships -- 30 awards valued at $4,000. Who is Eligible: 2nd, 3rd or 4th year (non-graduating) bachelor degree students enrolled in a program focused on international business, finance, economics, or a combination of business with environmental/sustainability studies. Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada in excellent academic standing and continuing bachelor degree studies in the 2013-2014 academic year to be eligible.
