GUIDELINES TO STUDENTS FOR FILLING THE APPLICATION FORM

Read these instructions carefully: 1. Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria as shown on the website (www.pakistan.uwc.org) and on the next page of this form. 2. Application forms must be completed in full and to the best of your abilities. Incomplete forms may lead to disqualification of the applicant from participating in the selection process. 3. The application must be filled in English unless stated otherwise. 4. The application will be judged according to internal guidelines and selection criteria. All decisions will be final and there will be no appeal process. 5. The selection committee reserves the right to independently verify any information. 6. Please type or write clearly in dark ink and ensure you complete all the sections. 7. Please do not staple materials together, use paper clips. 8. Late submission of forms and plagiarism will lead to automatic disqualification of the

applicant.

9. Both the Application Form and Financial Aid Form needs to be sent together but in separate

envelopes. Please ensure the envelope clearly mentions your name and the name of the form in it.

10. All applicants must fill and submit the Application Form and the Financial Aid Form along with supporting documents to the following address: UWC Pakistan, The AMAN Foundation, Plot # 333, Korangi Township, Near Pakistan Refinery Ltd, Karachi, Pakistan.

Eligibility Criteria The following conditions will apply to all potential applicants: •

Applicant must be a Pakistani citizen and be resident in Pakistan.

•

Applicant should be over 16 years and under 18 years of age on 1 September 2015.

•

Applicants must have completed ten or eleven years of formal education i.e. O’ Levels / Matric / Aga Khan Board / First year Intermediate by August 2015.

•

Applicants who have completed or are in the second year of Intermediate are not eligible to apply.

•

Applicants who have completed O-Levels or are in A-Levels are not eligible to apply.

•

Applicants should be in Pakistan if shortlisted for group activities and interviews.

•

Applicants should have the required grades to apply (see table below) Examination O Level

Student Application Form TO THE APPLICANT – Read Carefully You are required to invite two teachers (or a teacher and a Principal) with your Principal’s authorization, to fill in Section C and submit it in a sealed envelope with official stamp to you. You will then submit these recommendation letters to UWC Pakistan along with the rest of your application. It is preferable to select teachers who know you well, so that they might comment not only on your academic abilities, but also on your qualities of character, attitudes, social adaptability and emotional stability. If you have only recently joined your present school, one of the teacher recommendations may be from your previous school. (Please make two copies of section C and give one copy to each teacher.) TO BE FILLED BY THE APPLICANT’S TEACHER/PRINCIPAL GUIDELINES TO THE APPLICANT’S TEACHER/PRINCIPAL United World Colleges (UWC) bring together students from all backgrounds and all over the world to learn and live together. UWC schools and colleges deliver a challenging and transformative educational experience to a diverse cross section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future. UWC makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. UWC and The Aman Foundation will jointly fund and enable more than 20 Pakistani students to enter UWC schools and colleges every year to pursue a pre-university two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma. We would be obliged if you would fill out the following form, co-signed by the school’s principal and give it to the student in a sealed envelope with the school’s official stamp. The student will then send it to UWC Pakistan. Places are offered on a competitive basis. The UWC selection committee would greatly appreciate your comments on the applicant.
