1. Command Reference MDC TC Take control of the MCU to issue commands and change the operation state of the MCU to Position Designate Mode using the current mount position as reference. If another unit has control of the MCU the command will fail. For example: MDC TC ERROR: Command to take mount control rejected MDC TC ACTIVE MDC RC Release control of the MCU. For example MDC RC ACTIVE MDC STOP Change the operational state of the MCU to Stop Mode and then back to Position Designate Mode using the current mount position as reference. For example MDC STOP ACTIVE MDC N1D The N1 axis is driven to the given angle in response to this command. MDC N2D The N2 axis is driven to the given angle in response to this command. For example: MDC N2D N2=24.7 ERROR: Command to move N2 rejected MDC N2D N2=24.7 ACTIVE MDC N2D ACTIVE N2=88.7 MDC N2D DONE N2=24.7 MDC NSTOP Stop motion of both N1 and N2 and disables tracking. For example: MDC NSTOP ACTIVE MDC TON Enables mount tracking For example: MDC TON ERROR: Enable track command rejected MDC TON ACTIVE MDC TOFF Disables mount tracking For example: MDC TOFF ERROR: Disable track command rejected MDC TOFF ACTIVE MDC N1T Enables N1 tracking. If the right Nasmyth location is not selected, the software will reject the command. If the mount is not tracking, the software will reject the command. ERROR: Cannot process track request for N1 MDC N1T ACTIVE MDC N2T Enables N2 tracking. If the left Nasmyth location is not selected, the software will reject the command. If the mount is not tracking, the software will reject the command. For example: MDC N2T ERROR: N2 is not selected MDC N2T ERROR: Cannot process track request for N2 MDC N2T ACTIVE MDC TARGETZ Mount AZ,EL slew motion. Units are degrees. If the TCSK is not in control of the MCU the command will be rejected. If the TCSK is tracking, the mount will move to the given angles and stop tracking. MDC TARGETM Mount RA,Dec slew motion. Units are degrees. If the TCSK is not tracking the command will be rejected. If the TCSK is tracking the mount will move to the given angles and continue tracking. If the EPOCH parameter is omitted it defaults to J2000.0. If the proper motion parameters PMRA, PMDEC (mas per year) are omitted they default to zero. Radial velocity parameter RV (Km/s) defaults to zero. Parallax parameter PARALLAX (radians) defaults to zero. MDC TARGETNS Mount track at non-sidereal rates. Differential rate units are arc-seconds per hour. If the TCSK is not tracking the command will be rejected. Optionally the mount can slew to the specified coordinates and continue tracking at given differential rates. A differential rate of 0.0 will set tracking back to sidereal rates. MDC OFFSET Offset the telescope by the specified values in the focal plane. Offsets in Ra/Dec, Az/El and XY are possible. Units are arc-seconds. The XY coordinates are instrument coordinates. For example: MDC OFFSET N=8.3 E=3.4 ACTIVE MDC OFFSET U=5.1 L=3.2 ACTIVE MDC OFFSET X=10 Y=4 6

MDC MODCAL Apply adjustments to the pointing model by setting or adding offsets to terms IA, IE and CA of the pointing model in file soarpmod.dat. Units are arc-seconds. MDC TARGETG Create a new target for the auto-guider attached to the current rotator. The XY coordinates are in guider coordinate system (stcsk.ini) in units of [mm]. MDC WEATHER Update the pointing model weather parameters for pressure, temperature and relative humidity. Units for pressure are mBar. Units for temperature are Kelvin degrees. Relative humidity is a number between 0 and 1. 9
