State House, Hall of Flags, Second Floor Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 8 am to 4 pm Speak with your legislators and participate in the legislative process. Speak up on issues of significance to physicians, such as: health care reform; Medicaid funding; scope of practice; state budget priorities; childhood obesity prevention efforts; and more. We strongly urge you to attend and invite your colleagues. Our State House visits make a very positive impression on legislators. In addition to the traditional events in the Hall of Flags, the MMA & MOA would like to start the day at 7 am with a Walk/Run, along the Kennebec River Rail Trail. All physicians and legislators are welcome. The Kennebec Valley YMCA’s locker rooms will be available to all participants before and after the walk/run. The starting point and ending point will be the Kennebec River Rail Trail Message Board at Capitol Park, which is located west of the YMCA on the opposite side of the football field. The participants will walk/run along the trail to Hallowell and back (2 miles). Come start your morning with a healthy walk/run along the beautiful Kennebec River Rail Trail!

March 19, 2013 Day Specifics: Important Information  Attire: Dress comfortably but professionally. The floors are marble so we recommend wearing comfortable shoes. White coat attire is suggested for maximum impact at the State House.  Parking: Across from the state office building there is a free parking garage (see map).  Set Up: Just a reminder that the electrical outlets are limited in the room so if you have electrical needs it may be a good idea to bring an electrical “strip”; there is no wall space so if you have posters, etc., you should bring a table top or regular easel.  Specialty Society Membership Information: For those specialty societies exhibiting at a booth, it might be a good idea to get a list of all of your society’s members in case a legislator is interested in whether or not his/her provider is a member. Also, general information on how a provider becomes a member might be useful as well.  Unloading Area: If you are exhibiting, the glass doors on the west side of the building, facing the State Office Building, are where you should unload. You may bring items in through the glass doors, at which point, you will need to go through the security check point. It is similar to airport security check points, but you don’t have to take your shoes off. Then proceed either to the stairs or an elevator on the left side of the security station. The event takes place up one floor in the Hall of Flags. Once you have unloaded, please park your car as soon as possible. The parking garage is across the street (next to Bangor Savings Bank).

 Walk/Run: In addition to the traditional events in the Hall of Flags, the MMA & MOA would like to start the day at 7am with a Walk/Run, along the Kennebec River Rail Trail. The participants will walk/run along the trail to Hallowell and back.
