This STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® specifies the general and special conditions for granting authorisation to mark textiles and accessories for the manufacturing of garments with the STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® mark as shown in Appendix No. 2.

Anwendung
Applicability
This standard is applicable for textile products and for articles of all levels of production, including textile and non-textile accessories.
Dieser Standard ist für textile Produkte sowie für Artikel aller Produktionsstufen, inbegriffen aller textiler und nichttextiler Bestandteile, anwendbar.
If the textile product (e.g. garment) contains also components made from leather, then for these conponents the conditions and criteria of the latest valid LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO‑TEX® are applied. The up to date, valid LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO‑TEX®, which is then coapplicable, is available at the OEKO‑TEX® website www.oeko-tex.com and can be downloaded there.

Leather articles are tested and certified according to the LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO‑TEX®.

Leather materials, which are certified according to the LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO‑TEX®, product classes I till IV can be used and are accepted within a certification process of a textile product according to the STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® as precertificate, if these materials are certified for the textile product according to the necessary product class.

Harmful substances within the context of this standard refer to substances which may be present in a textile product or accessory and exceed a maximum amount or which evolve during normal and prescribed use and exceed a maximum amount, and which may have some kind of effect on people during normal and prescribed use and may, according to current scientific knowledge, be injurious to human health.

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® mark "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Tested for harmful substances“ refers to marking which may be applied to a textile product or to an accessory if the general and special conditions for granting authorisation are fulfilled and if authorisation to use this mark on a product has been granted by an institute (Appendix 1) belonging to the International Association for Research and Testing in the field of Textile and Leather Ecology (OEKO‑TEX®).
Die STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® Kennzeichnung "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Geprüft auf Schadstoffe“ ist eine Kennzeichnung, mit der ein textiles Produkt oder Zubehörteil versehen werden kann, wenn die allgemeinen und speziellen Bedingungen für die Vergabe der Berechtigung erfüllt sind und wenn die Berechtigung für die Kennzeichnung des Produktes von einem Institut (Anhang 1) der Internationalen Gemeinschaft für Forschung und Prüfung auf dem Gebiet der Textil‑ und Lederökologie (OEKO‑TEX®) erteilt wurde.
The mark "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Tested for harmful substances“ states that the marked product fulfils the conditions specified in this standard, and that the product and its conformity test, as specified in this standard, are under the supervision of an institute belonging to the International Association for Research and Testing in the field of Textile and Leather Ecology (OEKO‑TEX®). Thereby via the OEKO‑TEX® homepage www.oeko-tex.com and about the certificate number mentioned on the OEKO‑TEX® mark information can be obtained, if the testing and certification of the products were performed on the basis of the conditions and criteria according to Appendix 4 of this standard or according to those of the Appendix 6 and thus, which conditions the labelled product meets.

The mark "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Tested for harmful substances“ is not a quality label. The mark relates only to the as-produced state of the textile or accessory and says nothing about other properties of the product such as e.g. fitness for use, reaction to cleaning processes, physiological behaviour in respect of clothing, properties relating to use in buildings, burning behaviour etc. Furthermore the mark does not declare anything regarding other quality or legal aspects, such as product safety, and other characteristics (construction, cords, electrical wiring …).
Die Kennzeichnung "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Geprüft auf Schadstoffe“ ist kein Gütezeichen. The mark does not declare anything about harmful substances affecting single specimens of the marked textile as a result of damage during transportation or storing (and improper cleaning procedures thereafter), contamination caused by packaging, manipulation for sales promotion (e.g. perfuming) and inadequate sales display (e.g. outdoor presentation).

In line with its importance the sign "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Tested for harmful substances“ is protected comprehensively as a trademark. On a worldwide basis there are applications or registrations of the label as a trademark. To strengthen its legal protection not only the label as such, but also various device elements (e.g. the globe device element) and the words Oekotex, Oeko-tex®, or OEKO‑TEX® are registered as separate trademarks.
Entsprechend ihrer Bedeutung ist die Kennzeichnung "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Geprüft auf Schadstoffe“ markenrechtlich umfassend geschützt. Auf weltweiter Basis bestehen Anmeldungen oder bereits Registrierungen dieses Labels als Marke. Zur Verstärkung des Rechtsschutzes ist nicht nur das Label als solches, sondern sind auch verschiedene Gestaltungselemente (z.B. Product classes

A product class in the context of this standard is a group of different articles categorised according to their (future) utilisation. In the different product classes not only may finished articles be certified but also their components at all stages of manufacture (fibres, yarns, fabrics) and accessories. The product classes differ generally in the requirements that the products have to fulfil and by the test methods applied.
Eine Produktklasse im Zusammenhang mit diesem Standard ist die Gruppierung verschiedener Artikel gemäß ihrem (späteren) Verwendungszweck. In den verschiedenen Produktklassen können nicht nur verkaufsfertige Artikel zertifiziert werden, sondern auch deren Vorprodukte in allen Verarbeitungsstufen (Fasern, Garne, Flächengebilde) sowie Zubehöre. Die verschiedenen Produktklassen unterscheiden sich im Wesentlichen durch die zur Anwendung gelangenden produktspezifischen Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren.

Expanded requirements (Appendix 6)

With the expanded requirements defined in Appendix 6, it should be increasingly possible to draw conclusions about special environmentally friendly production conditions. For this purpose, the limit values of the product classes according to Appendix 4, fixed from a human ecological point of view, are complemented with further and often stricter requirements that aim to bring about an improved environmental performance during production. For a comprehensive consideration of environmentally friendly and socially acceptable production conditions, please see the separate certification of production sites as per STeP by OEKO‑TEX® and DETOX TO ZERO by OEKO‑TEX®.
Mit den in Anhang 6 definierten, erweiterten Anforderungen sollen verstärkt Rückschlüsse auf speziell umweltschonende Produktionsbedingungen gezogen werden können. Dazu werden die aus humanökologischer Sichtweise fixierten Grenzwerte der Produktklassen gemäß Anhang 4 mit weiteren und oft strengeren Anforderungen ergänzt, die eine verbesserte Umweltleistung während der Produktion zum Ziele haben. Für eine umfassende Berücksichtigung von umweltfreundlichen und sozial verträglichen Produktionsbedingungen verweisen wir außerdem auf die separate Zertifizierung von Produktionsstätten gemäß STeP by OEKO‑TEX® sowie auf DETOX TO ZERO by OEKO‑TEX®.

The expanded criteria catalogue as per Appendix 6 and the accompanying Appendix 7 are only used within the context of a STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® certification process if expressly requested by the applicant in the application. This catalogue specially has been developed for companies who are particularly focused on the Detox Campaign and it offers these companies assistance if they want to take this approach (or must take this approach due to specific customer requirements). The tightening of the limit values in comparison with the requirements in Appendix 4 for many parameters/substances did not take place from a viewpoint of human ecological aspects but considering Point 3.7.5 of this standard. The parameters flagged in Appendix 6 with an asterisk (*) belong to the so-called “Detox Substance Groups”.

Er wurde speziell für Firmen entwickelt, deren Intention sehr stark auf der DetoxKampagne liegt und bietet diesen Firmen eine Hilfestellung, die in diese Richtung arbeiten möchten (oder aufgrund von speziellen Kundenanforderungen arbeiten müssen). Die im Vergleich zu den Anforderungen im Anhang 4 bei vielen Parametern/Substanzen vorgenommene Verschärfung der Grenzwerte erfolgte nicht aus der Sichtweise von humanökologischen Aspekten, sondern entsprechend Punkt 3.7.5 dieses Standards. The application for the granting of authorisation to use the STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® mark has to be made in writing on the respective application form to an institute of the International Association for Research and Testing in the field of Textile and Leather Ecology (OEKO‑TEX®) (see Appendix 1).

The applicant has to describe to the institute the precautions he has taken within his company to ensure that all products manufactured and/or sold for which the authorisation to use the mark "OEKO‑TEX® CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES – STANDARD 100 – Tested for harmful substances“ has been granted fulfil the conditions of the STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® and if applicable of the co‑applicable LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO‑TEX® in the same way as the samples that have been sent to the institute and based on those tests the authorisation has been granted to use the STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® mark. The applicant has to issue a declaration of conformity in accordance with ISO 17050‑1 stating that the products manufactured and/or sold by him fulfil the conditions of the STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® and at this according to the conditions and criteria, which were requested and to those the products were certified.

The applicant is responsible for assuring the quality of the certified product. He may delegate parts of the quality assurance to manufacturers, suppliers and importers. If he does so, again the effectiveness of the quality assurance system has to be notified to the testing institute.

In the case of the limit values and/or the examination criteria altering, the validity of the respective certified products will remain effective for a transition period until the expiration date of the certificate. Once this period has elapsed, at a renewal certification process the prevailing conditions valid at that time must be fulfilled.

The authorisation to mark a product with the STANDARD 100 by OEKO‑TEX® mark is limited to a maximum of one year. During the period of validity of the certificate the test standards and limit values relevant at the time of granting the authorisation are valid. Withdrawal of authorisation
