ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

NOTE: All registered horses must include a photocopy of the registration papers with payment. E-mailed entries will not be entered until fees are received and all late fees will apply if deadlines are not met. A. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS 1. Open to all breeds and grade horses. 2. Both owners and riders must be SRHA members to compete in SRHA classes. 3. Make cheques payable to SRHA (in Canadian Funds). All accounts must be paid before leaving show grounds. 4. All cheques made payable to SRHA. Stall payment must be postmarked by midnight of due date, or pay late fees as listed under payment schedule. Late fees will be enforced. NO EXCEPTIONS. Returned cheques will incur a charge of $25. 5. Upon presentation of a veterinary certificate. Stall fees will be refunded 5 days prior to start of show and Substitutions of horses by owners will be allowed at the show for a penalty fee of $50.00. 6. Change of ownership: if an entry changes ownership, the entry will retain eligibility by complying with the following steps: a. Notification of change of ownership and the intention of the new owner to continue the entry. b. Payment of remaining fees. c. The new owner becoming a member of the SRHA or NRHA as required by the classes being entered. 7. An owner may enter more than one horse and/or rider may ride more than one horse. 8. SRHA and NRHA classes are run under NRHA rules, except where otherwise indicated. 9. Any class with 2 entries or less may be cancelled by the SRHA and monies refunded. 10. All youth under the age of 18 as of January 1 of the current year will be required to wear an approved ASTM/SEI helmet when participating B. EQUIPMENT 1. Entries will be shown in a standard headstall (browband, split ear, shaped ear). 2. Any horse ridden in a snaffle bit must use a smooth snaffle bit with a broke mouth-piece (minimum 3/8 inch diameter). Leather curb straps only to be used (no iron chains or other material to be used). Reins to be attached above the curb strap. 3. In any Open Bit Class, horses must be shown in a curb bit with a jointed, grazing, or half-breed mouth-piece. Curb chains must be leather or flat chain no narrower than ½ inch. 4. The use of a shank bit (one or 2 hand), Bosal or Snaffle Bit (two hand), will be allowed in Non Pro 3&4 year old, Open Futurity and Limited Open Futurity classes. 5. After each work, headstalls may be dropped and viewed by the appointed representative of the SRHA. C. 1. 2. 3.

GENERAL SCORING RULES AND PROCEDURES Judges for the Futurity will be selected by the SRHA. Any pattern rule change will be posted one hour before the go round to which it applies. Draws for working position will be made by the SRHA. Scores will be announced after each entrant’s work.

A two judge system is used with each judge writing his score on a separate card. The score is given to an assistant to relay to the scoring booth. All judges’ score cards are later verified against the verbal entries. Falling off the horse in any phase of the work will be penalized at the judges’ discretion. Pink or bloody mouth will be penalized at the judges’ discretion. Inhumane treatment of horses will be grounds for disqualification.

D. PAYOUTS 1. NRHA paybacks percentages will be used to payout in all classes unless otherwise stipulated. SRHA will retain 50% of entry fees. E. 1.

DIVISIONS A Non Pro shall be defined as someone who has NOT received income in any form for training or exhibiting a horse or giving lessons. The horse must be owned solely by the rider, his family or their company. Non Pro exhibitors will be required to sign a Non Pro declaration form. Any competitor who enters a class in which they are not eligible will incur a $50 fine.

F. WAIVER Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein contained, it is understood that each entrant by the act of entry or exhibiting, waives all claims against the SASKATCHEWAN REINING HORSE ASSOCIATION, MOOSE JAW EXHIBITION COMPANY GOLDEN MILE ARENA, and/or any members, officers or agents thereof, for any and all injury, loss or damage which in any way out of the operations or activities of the said associations and the Moose Jaw Golden Mile Park by reason of any claim made by any of his helpers or employers or their executors, administrators, or assigns and that any helpers or employers of their executors, administrators or assigns and that any helpers or assistants introduced to or engaged by an entrant through the said association, or any of them or through the member, offices or agents shall be at the sole risk and responsibility of such entrant. G. RIGHTS RESERVED BY SRHA 1.

The SRHA reserves the right to accept or refuse any entry. All decisions are final.

The SRHA reserves the right to cancel, transfer or reschedule the Futurity without notice and liability. In the event of cancellation, all entry fees will be refunded. The SRHA reserves the right to decide any point not covered by the rules. The SRHA will retain 50% of the entry fees to cover expenses.

H. NOTICE TO CONTESTANTS 1.

In case of any animal being disqualified, the winner of the next succeeding prize shall take the prize that has been awarded to the disqualified animal and the other prizes adjusted accordingly.

2. Completion of entry form and signature of owner and/or exhibitor will indicate acceptance of the above rules and regulations. 3. All Fees & winnings are in CANADIAN funds, but NRHA earnings will be converted to US funds for recording at NRHA.
