National seminar on Scope and Prospective in Industry-Institution Interaction Dated: 20th & 21st September, 2014 Sree Vidyanikethan College of Pharmacy, Tirupati organized a two day National Seminar on “Scope and Prospective in Industry-Institution Interaction”. Employer’s survey (95%) which says that high preference will be given to college graduates who have more skills, which will enable them towards their contribution to innovation in research and development. Unfortunately, link between educational institution and industrial employers are decreasing day by day due to the mismatch between the educational system and the job skill of the employees. The real thirst of the industrial needs and fulfillment are lacking nowadays in academic sector. In order to meet the real needs of the industry, the good rappo and advance in the research knowledge should be transferred to the students to meet the criteria. The core concept in this seminar is to form a meaningful bridge between the academicians and industrial experts. This concept facilitates the exchange of knowledge in terms of research and development and to endorse several educational institutions for preparing potential and efficient graduates. The Seminar Committee have arranged about six expert speakers, Dr. M. Jaya Kumar, Associate Director, Intellectual Property Management (Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., Hyderabad), Dr. D. Sampath Kumar,Vice President (Shasun Pharmaceuticals, Chennai), Mr. K.Varatharajan ,General Manager (Malladi Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Tirupati), Dr. R. Venkidesh General Manager (Saai Mirra Innopharm Pvt. Ltd.,Chennai), Dr. Prabhakar Vissavajjhala Director (Sugen Life Sciences, Tirupati), and Mr. R. Bimal Kumar Kesh, Senior Statistician (Minitab, Bangalore). The seminar was scheduled for two days, where first day started with Inaugural function which was chaired by Dr. C.K. Ashok Kumar (Principal, Sree Vidyanikethan College of Pharmacy); Dr. I. Sudarsan Kumar (Chief Operating Officer, SVET); K. Bhagavanulu (Director of Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College) and the guests of honor for the function was Dr. D. Sampath Kumar and Dr. M. Jaya Kumar. The function commenced with lighting of lamp followed by welcome address by Dr. C.K. Ashok Kumar (Principal). The session was addressed by the Chief Guest on the topic “The processing and production techniques in pharmaceutical industry” and the chief operating officer of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust, addressed the audience with his valuable speech and enumerated about “Professional ethics in pharmacy”.

Oral and Poster presentations where organized as a part of the seminar. 51 abstracts were accepted for the oral presentation and 153 abstracts were accepted for the poster presentation. 500 participants from various industries and academic institutions (UG, PG and Research scholars and Teachers) across the country actively participated and presented the oral and poster presentation. The scientific session was well organized and the session went on bilateral talk with speakers on different current issues on academic and industrial purview. The session was concluded with a message from Dr. M. Mohan Babu, Chairman of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust. He advised the students to follow the words of eminent speakers to update their skills and get placement in the industries and also explained about simplicity of life. The Chief Guest of valedictory function was Professor D.V.R. Sai Gopal (Professor & Head, Dept. of Virology, SV University, Tirupati). The prizes for first, second and third positions in both oral and poster presentation categories were awarded by Professor D.V.R. Sai Gopal. He enlightened the importance of pharmacy in health care system and their crucial role in building the society. Mr. T. Gopala Rao, Special Officer of Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust was also present. A vote of thanks was proposed by P. Latha (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology). She expressed her sincere thanks to all those who were responsible for the success of the Seminar. The event ended with National Anthem.
