Sprinter City The city bus range for lean routes.

What can you expect of a Mercedes-Benz? More. There are minbuses. And Mercedes-Benz minibuses. In today’s tough competition, the Star makes the difference. It gives you a decisive edge – and the good feeling of having done your best for the future of your company. In the vanguard of progress. Like no other manufacturer in the world, Mercedes-Benz has taken on responsibility for the bus. Not only because in 1895 Carl Benz built the first bus in the world, but also because Mercedes-Benz has developed it since that time into a high performance, safe and environmentally friendly form of transport. That is why today at Mercedes-Benz you find practical, advanced solutions for the challenges of tomorrow – so that you can be that vital step ahead of your competitors in the future too. Responsibility is a duty.

Sprinter City highlights. Right on your route: for public transport in narrow inner cities or on routes with a predictable number of passengers, the ideal player is always a Sprinter City.

Increase your radius of action With a Sprinter City you can conveniently open up new service application areas for your company. As minibuses, they are in their element when transporting predictable numbers of passengers, because they are still profitable to run when a big bus has long ceased to pay for itself. There are three model variants for up to 22, 30 or 40 passengers to choose from. Whether for public transport or a works bus service, whether as a school bus, night bus or on-call bus – owing to its versatility, a Sprinter City will soon become an essential part of your fleet too. Because you think in terms of profitability. To survive in the tough transport business, you have to price keenly. In this connection a Sprinter City is just what you need. Because its consistent operating efficiency makes your financial planning easier. For example, the powerful

4-cylinder CDI engines with diesel particulate filter and Euro 5 classification are outstanding for their low fuel consumption. In conjunction with the maintenance friendly Sprinter technology, the result is low life-cycle costs for you throughout the life of the bus. Combine comfort with safety. With a Sprinter City you will be opting for one of the safest minibuses in this vehicle class. After all, it is a true Mercedes-Benz. For example, it is equipped with the innovative ADAPTIVE ESP ®*, which always takes account of the actual load distribution. The special quality of these city minibuses is also evident in the comfort. With a standing height of over 2.20 m in the low-floor area and 1.90 m in the remainder of the passenger compartment, the interior looks really spacious. Low step heights and wide outward swinging doors mean that worries about boarding do not even arise.

In line with the big ones. A Sprinter City need not shy away from a comparison with a big bus. As a “close relative” of the Citaro bus family, it possesses many equipment features and technical details that put it on a par with the big buses. For example, the hand rails, seats and the modular ceiling are derived from the Citaro. But also exterior design elements, such as the tail lamps or the identical destination displays, place the Sprinter City in close proximity to the big Mercedes-Benz low-floor buses.

Top class, low costs. When it comes to economy, a Sprinter City is in its element. Not only because you can operate it flexibly and use it to open up new service application areas, but also because it saves your financial resources.

The profitable alternative. Where the number of passengers is predictable, a Sprinter City is the ideal player: on public transport service as well as for use as an airport shuttle, school, night or on-call bus. Thanks to its compact dimensions and high manoeuvrability, you can even use it to easily open up narrow old town quarters for public transport. Three City models with a host of equipment options and designs make it possible to configure your Sprinter City entirely to your requirements.

And the low life-cycle costs also speak for the Sprinter City. The two high torque 4-cylinder CDI diesel engines at 95 kW and 120 kW available to choose from are model examples as regards longevity, performance and ride comfort – and also for consumption and environment friendliness. The EU engines all meet the Euro V standard. Equipped with catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters, they also make a positive contribution to the fine dust discussion.

Efficiency of series production. Last but not least, the Sprinter is a worldwide success because it is highly economical: over 1.4 million Sprinters have been sold in the last ten years. Major components are produced in high volume – you can tell that from the attractive priceperformance ratio.

Impressively easy to maintain. The ease of maintenance of the Sprinter will excite you. For example, the particulate filter does not have to be inspected until 160,000 km, because a permanent regeneration process in the exhaust gas prevents it clogging. Or take the maintenance computer: it enables flexible oil change intervals of at least 40,000 km. The Sprinter City is economical down to the last detail.

Make yourself comfortable. Anyone taking a seat in a Sprinter City will immediately feel comfortable. The modern and comfortable interior equipment with many design options ensures that every journey is a highlight for your passengers. Space to feel comfortable. In spite of its compact dimensions, the interior of the Sprinter City feels extraordinarily spacious and generous. For instance, the low-floor area at the front entrance offers space for up to 15 passengers, depending on the model. Wide outward swinging doors and low entrances will also satisfy the wishes of your passengers and facilitate rapid boarding and alighting.

The modular ceiling of the City model series is harmoniously matched to the sidewall and floor, and makes for a functional city bus flair like in a Citaro. In addition, it provides excellent sound and heat insulation. Two subdued lighting strips along the middle of the easy-care ceiling covering provide pleasant and uniform illumination of the passenger compartment.

The Sprinter City 65 and Sprinter City 77 models can be optionally equipped with rear lowering and kneeling – for a continuously high level of comfort when boarding and alighting, even at ground level bus stops. Generous ramps at the double-wing service doors, which can be operated either manually or electrically as desired, facilitate the boarding and alighting of persons with impaired mobility. Maximum low-floor comfort in the City product range is offered by the three-axle Sprinter City 77 with its continuous stepless low-floor and two double-wing outward swinging doors.

Relax between stops. Like the Citaro, the Sprinter City also spoils your passengers with the comfortably upholstered city bus seating, City Star Eco. These materials are extremely hard-wearing and easy-care, appropriate to the special requirements of a public transport service today. So that physically impaired passengers may also feel really comfortable on-board, a wheelchair space is arranged directly to the rear of the driver as standard in the Sprinter City 65 and Sprinter City 77. In the flagship of the City model series, a further wheelchair space is installed at the rear entrance.

Pleasant climate all year round. When it is wintery cold outside, powerful convector heaters make sure the Sprinter City is warm and cosy. In addition, you can choose a roof-mounted air conditioner with a high cooling capacity, so that even during hot summer days your passengers are able to enjoy pleasant temperatures all the time.

A quite special workstation. Other bus drivers will envy your driver his workstation: for the Sprinter City offers a lot of comfort behind the wheel and innovative technology that makes working in it a real pleasure.

A feeling like in a motor car. Outside the strikingly confident look. Inside, a cockpit that bus drivers will love. To drive a Sprinter simply means driving a Mercedes-Benz. And as a matter of fact: the cockpit in the Sprinter City in many respects is like that of a car. Naturally that also goes for comfort. Space provision is generous, so that even tall people can feel entirely comfortable. Thanks to the perfected ergonomy, your driver has an optimal view of all the controls and instruments. A host of stowage spaces and the comfort swivel seat as standard with adjustable lumbar support, seat cushion tilt, armrest, height and fore-and-aft adjustment also make work perceptibly easier. So that he can concentrate fully on his tasks, there are also details to help him, such as electric window lifters,

the adjustable steering wheel, the PARKTRONIC parking aid or the remote control for the central locking. Moreover, the cockpit in the Sprinter City 65 and Sprinter City 77 is equipped with a driver climate control system as standard. Ride comfort arrives. With exceptional dynamic handling similar to a car and the ride comfort, a Sprinter City scores not only with your driver. A ride in this city minibus will also impress your passengers. The predecessor model was already outstanding in its class for superb roadholding. As a result of numerous improvements, the latest generation of buses has become even more comfortable. Maximum ride comfort in every load condition is provided by the air suspension on the rear axle or tandem axle, which is already part of the standard configuration on the Sprinter City 65 and Sprinter City 77.

Safe from A to Z. The bus is seen as one of the safest forms of transport in the world. The innovations of Mercedes-Benz have played a decisive part in this. Experience for yourself the benefits of the integral safety concept of Mercedes-Benz. The Sprinter City makes that possible. Safety that thinks of everything. Since the invention of the bus by Carl Benz, Mercedes-Benz has performed pioneering work in the advanced development of bus safety. Many of the innovations that are standard today were launched in a vehicle with the Star. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz pursues the vision of accident-free driving. The integral safety concept of Mercedes-Benz is an essential contribution in its realisation. To thoroughly implement this safety thinking, the concept covers all phases of automotive safety: from driving safety, through safety in dangerous situations and protection in the event of an accident, to minimising the consequences of accidents. Electronic guardian angels. With its comprehensive safety technology, the Sprinter City is among the safest minibuses on the market. Its innovative electronic guardian angels also contribute to this. Thus, for example, the com-

pact public transport bus has ADAPTIVE ESP ®* in addition to ABS and ASR. This increases the vehicle stability when cornering at speed or during abrupt evasive manoeuvres. Unlike conventional electronic stability systems, ADAPTIVE ESP ® factors the actual load condition into the control processes. The Brake Assist System BAS* provides increased safety during emergency braking. If the driver depresses the brake pedal faster than a certain rate, it interprets the braking situation as emergency braking. It then builds up maximum braking power in fractions of a second, even if the driver has not yet fully depressed the brake pedal. This reduces the braking and stopping distance if the driver executes the emergency braking with too little brake pressure.

Fundamentally safe. Many details make the Sprinter City a particularly safe representative of its class – the Sprinter passenger cell, for example, protects the passengers and driver better than ever before. In this connection, a front airbag reduces the specific risk of injury to the driver. At the same time, the optimised braking system with electronic brake force distribution EBV provides for a high level of driving safety. Depending on the actual driving situation, it distributes the braking force between the front and rear axles so as to maximise the overall braking effect. A visible plus in safety is also provided by the optional bi-xenon headlamps. They illuminate the road ahead and to the side superbly, even in tight bends – thanks to the integrated static cornering lights/steering dependent headlamps.

The new dimension in city traffic. Your passengers will be in for a surprise: comfortable boarding options and a large, barrier-free interior make the Sprinter City 77 the public’s favourite city minibus!

Welcome on board. Welcome on board. Anyone setting foot in the Sprinter City 77 will forget he or she is boarding a minibus. The two double-wing outward swinging doors in big bus format provide maximum room to move when boarding and alighting. Thanks to kneeling and a passenger ramp, mobility-impaired passengers also have no difficulties boarding at any stopping point. The continuous stepless low-floor in the passenger compartment makes it very comfortable to move along, thereby allowing a speedy passenger flow and short stopping times. Take your seats. The Sprinter City 77 sets new standards in passenger comfort. On the one hand, the large glazed area makes for an unusually bright interior. On the other hand, you can sit on comfortable upholstered seats really well and totally relaxed throughout the entire journey. Even physically impaired passengers are able to feel comfortable. Located as standard directly behind the driver is a wheelchair space with ramp – and, on request, another one at the rear entrance too.

So big is a metre. The new Sprinter City 77 exceeds the length of the previous top model, the City 65, by about one metre. And this metre is entirely for the benefit of the passenger compartment. In numbers, that means comfortable space for 10 more passengers, thanks to a permitted gross vehicle weight of 6.8 tonnes. Nevertheless, the biggest of the minibuses is delightfully manoeuvrable. This is made possible by a shorter wheelbase and the slim design of 1.99 m: the best prerequisites for narrow interurban routes, tight inner cities and new application areas, such as airport or trade show services. The new Sprinter City 77 is an all-round winner on every route: 120 kW (163 bhp) and EEV emission class make it a powerful “Mr Clean”.

19

Unmistakably a Mercedes-Benz. At some point the time is right for a premium class minibus. In the technology of the Sprinter City there is over a 100 years of experience of building buses. And its strong and elegant appeal also makes it a real competitive advantage for you.

Confident Styling. With the independent body frame and the generous panoramic glazing, the Sprinter City 77 and Sprinter City 65 at first sight look different from their small but no less attractive “brother”, the Sprinter City 35. Well more or less: all combine the beefy front with the Star and also the strong lines, which run all the way along the sides to the rear. Clearly contoured tail lamps, the unmistakable City wordmark and the confident brand signet centred at eye level add a successful final accent. Sprinter City is unmistakably a Mercedes-Benz!

Tell them where you’re going. For destination displays, the Sprinter City gives you the choice of LED or LCD versions. These are compact in size and can be programmed in many ways. On the Sprinter City 77 and Sprinter City 65 the front display is fixed behind the panoramic windscreen. On the Sprinter City 35, it is housed in a separate roof fairing.

Star Service. With the Sprinter City you profit from a vehicle that sets benchmarks in its class. The same goes for service. Because the services available for MercedesBenz minibuses are a class in their own right and meet the special expectations that you have of Mercedes-Benz. Thus a Sprinter City gives you benefits even when it is not currently in operation for you.

All from a single source. Unlike minibuses where the basic vehicle and the body come from different manufacturers, a Sprinter City is 100 % Mercedes-Benz. You will realise that in every Sprinter City throughout the life of the bus, since all the components are matched. Because your vehicle comes entirely from a single source, Mercedes-Benz is your single point of contact for all your questions – not only for advice and support, but also for OMNIplus, the service partner for Mercedes-Benz Buses and Coaches.
