Some programs do not include additional fees for accommodations or meal plans – these will be specified or feel free to ask!

REFUND POLICY Refund Policy: There will be a 10% administration fee for all refunds requested with at least 8 business days notice and a 50% administration fee assessed for refunds requested within 7 business days of the course/camp start date. No refunds will be issued after the start of any course/camp except for medical reasons (supporting doctor’s note required), or relocation away from Regina and surrounding areas. A prorated refund, less the 10% administration fee will be given for medical and relocation withdrawals, effective the day we are notified of the withdrawal due to medical or relocation. A doctor’s note must be received by the Recreation & Athletic Services office within 5 business days of the withdrawal notification. The University of Regina reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration. If this occurs, a full refund will be issued. To withdraw from a course, please contact Recreation & Athletic Services at 585-4371.
Course/Class Transfers: Registrants may transfer courses (within the same program area) prior to the start of the course, providing there availability. PLEASE NOTE: A $10.00 transfer fee will be assessed for any transfers once the course has started.
Cougar Meal Plan - for Cougars Athletic Camps only. Where applicable, the optional meal plan for Cougar Day Camp participants is held at Luther College and offers a hot ‘all you can eat’ buffet style meal. NOTE: There is no lunch program for Summer Sports School participants.

SUMMER SPORTS SCHOOL PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Summer Sports School is a unique physical activity program for children 4 - 12 years of age. Children will be provided with opportunities to participate in a variety of different sports, aquatic and other physical activities in a safe, fun and non-competitive environment. The emphasis of Summer Sports School is for participants to have fun, meet others, become physically active and learn a variety of skills. The Visual Art component is a program that will provide children with an opportunity to explore their visual art creativity. All activities will be planned, facilitated and supervised by instructors and will be modified to suit the age level and ability of the participants. No previous experience is necessary. The Science component is a unique program for children 8 - 12 years of age. Children will be provided with opportunities to engage in a variety of science based activities and learning opportunities in a safe, fun, and welcoming environment. The emphasis of Summer Sports School Science program is for participants to have fun, meet others, engage in activities that further their learning, and gain a variety of skills in multiple areas of science. All activities will be planned, facilitated and supervised by instructors and will be modified to suit the age level and ability of the participants. Participants will spend half of the half day in science and half of the half day playing sport. No previous experience is necessary. Participants have the option of registering in a morning, afternoon, or choosing both a morning and afternoon program to create a full day program. Programs run daily, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 – 4:30 p.m. Lunch supervision will be provided for those participants registered in a full day program. In addition, to accommodate those parents who work, Summer Sports School offers supervision that will not have a planned program at no additional cost. Children will be supervised from 7:45 – 8:30AM and 4:30 – 5:15PM daily. Session A Session B Session C

SUMMER SPORTS SCHOOL - PROGRAMS To make a full day of camp, register for a morning and an afternoon program! (Excludes Little Movers; Wonderful Wizarding World; Run, Explore, Create!; and Wacky Week)
NEW! Little Movers (FULL DAY ONLY) For children 5 years old (must be 5 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm This one week camp runs all-day and will incorporate swimming, physical literacy skills, introduction to sports, art and science. This camp will offer activities like soccer, tchoukball, pickle ball, and more! Please note: All Littler Movers Program participants will be required to wear a life jacket or water wings in the pool for their own safety.
Rookie (AM or PM) For children 4 & 5 years old (must be 4 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm The children will take part in a variety of modified sport and recreational activities geared to their age group. Activities include balloon badminton, beach ball volleyball, pool time each morning, and other sports using junior equipment. They will also explore the U of R campus and surrounding area through supervised scavenger hunts and wonder walks. The emphasis is on participation, basic skill development and FUN!!! Note: Rookies can only participate in a morning OR afternoon program, not both.
Active Arts (AM or PM) For children 6 to 12 years of age (must be 6 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm This program will provide children with an opportunity to explore their visual art creativity, as well as participate in a variety of sport activities. Children will spend approximately an hour and a half participating in visual arts and the other hour and a half of the program participating in sports and recreational activities. Visual arts activities may include making a piñata, painting, drawing and other arts and crafts projects. Sports and recreational activities may include archery, lacrosse, basketball and other sports and recreational activities. There will be NO SWIMMING in the morning program. There will be swimming Tuesday and Thursday afternoons only.

Sports & Recreation (AM or PM) For children 6 to 12 years of age (must be 6 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm Camp participants will enjoy a full morning or afternoon of sport and recreational activities. In the morning, the Sport School groups will be divided according to age. In the afternoon, the groups will be age and gender specific. Some examples of sports children may participate in include Archery, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, and Kin Ball activities. There will be NO SWIMMING in the morning program. There will be SWIMMING in the afternoon program ONLY.
Science & Sport (AM) For children 8 to 12 years of age (must be 8 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 12:00 pm This program provides children with the opportunity to explore science in a controlled environment. Instructors from the Faculty of Science engage children in experiments and hands on learning around the campus. Over a third of the Science program is delivered with the assistance of Professors in the Faculty of Science in completing cool experiments, including turning copper to gold, building a composting unit, and creating their own computer game, among others. Children will spend approximately an hour and a half participating in science and the other hour and a half of the program participating in sports and recreational activities. Sports and recreational activities may include beach volleyball, broomball, bocce ball and other sports and recreational activities. There is limited space available for this program. There will be NO SWIMMING in this morning program.
NEW! Wonderful Wizarding World (FULL DAY ONLY) For children 10 to 12 years of age (must be 10 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm In this combination arts and sports camp, you will develop your own schools of witchcraft and wizardry, create duelling skits, and play wizarding world games like Quidditch! Can you swim to save your friends from mermaids or face obstacles to steal a golden egg from a dragon? Don’t wait for your invitation to arrive by owl post, this camp is perfect for Muggles, witches, and wizards alike! There will be swimming scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday of this camp.

NEW! Run, Explore, Create! (FULL DAY ONLY) For children 7 to 9 years of age (must be 7 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Combining arts and sports, participants of this camp will travel the world while never having to leave home. Each day will focus on a different region of the world as campers play, move, and create art. Participate in sports from around the globe, sing traveling songs, swim in the ocean, and so much more! There will never be a dull moment! There will be swimming scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday of this camp.
Wacky Week (FULL DAY ONLY) For children 6 to 12 years of age (must be 6 as of August 31, 2016) 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Have a wacky week of fun this summer! Participants of this one week, full-day camp will enjoy a variety of specialty activities including some time in the Science Program, Visual Arts Program, and a variety of sports and recreational activities. Activities will include mud volleyball, a Winter Olympics day, a Summer Olympics day, frisbee golf, mini golf as well as some time in the pool. Participants will be placed in groups throughout the week as they rotate through the different program options and activities. There will be swimming scheduled each day of this camp

Sea Otter & Salamander: 3 years of age or older and just starting out, previous lessons are not necessary. Sunfish, Crocodile & Whale: 3 to 5 years and can enter shallow water safely; float and glide on the front and back without assistance; move around in a PFD, perform rhythmic breathing 3 times. Level 1 & 2: For children 5 years and older who can enter shallow water safely; float and glide on the front and back without assistance; swim on front for 2 metres. // For children 5 years and older who can float/front and back, exhale through mouth and nose’ flutter kick while gliding on front and back; swim 5 metres continuously. Level 3 & 4: For children 6 years of age and older who can perform deep water activities; can breathe rhythmically 10 times; glides front/back with kick for 5 metres and swim 10 metres continuously. // For children 6 years of age and older who can swim front crawl at least 5 metres, arms recovering above water; and swim 15 metres continuously. Level 5 & 6: For children 7 years of age and older who can surface support 45 seconds; swim front crawl at least 10 metres; swim on back with kick 10 metres; swim 25 metres continuously. Private Lessons: Private lessons provide adults or children an opportunity to focus on completing specific skills. They can be an excellent option for participants who are not comfortable in a group lesson environment. Lessons will be tailored to individual needs.

GIRLS COUGAR HOCKEY Head Instructor: Sarah Hodges Sarah has been the Head Coach of our Cougar Women’s Hockey team for the past 15 seasons. She won a silver medal at the World’s U18 Championship in 2011 with Team Canada. She has also been Head Coach of the National U22 team in 2008/09, Assistant Coach of National U22 team in 2007/08, Video Coordinator for National U22 team in 2006/07 and Head Coach for Team Sask in 2005/06. The Cougar Hockey Summer Camp for Girls has been developed according to the recommendations of the Canadian Sports for Life, Long Term Athlete Development Model. COUGAR TRACK & FIELD Camp Leader: Bruce McCannel Bruce is the head coach of the Cougar Track and Field Team and has been involved in the sport as a coach and athlete since 1992. Bruce has coached medalists at the high school, Canada Games, CIS and National Level including the 2011 CIS Pentathlon Champion. A former Cougar athlete, Bruce competed in long jump and triple jump winning multiple national medals. This camp will be facilitated by current members of the Cougar Track & Field Team.
