Medtronic CareLink® Network SYSTEM ENHANCEMENTS/SPRING 2012

Medtronic CareLink® Network System Enhancements/Spring 2012 Three enhancements to the CareLink® Network now make it easier for you to proactively manage patients who are being followed remotely. With these enhancements, you can identify patients with disconnected monitors, access essential patient information via Medtronic CareAlert® Notifications, and track and acknowledge missed transmissions. The enhancements are described below.

1. Patients with Disconnected Monitors (for wireless devices only) Help improve patient compliance and remote transmission frequency ”Patients with Disconnected Monitors” means the patient’s home monitor and the CareLink Network have not been communicating with each other on a regular basis (i.e., no analog line, monitor not plugged in, etc.). Now there is an easy way to track and identify these patients.

A new list of patients with disconnected monitors is now available for you to add to the “Manage My Patient Views.”

You can see the full list of those patients, along with two new icons.

This new feature allows you to identify disconnected monitors and corresponding upcoming appointments, so you can contact a patient to remind them to plug in their monitor 3, 5, 7, 14, or 21 days ahead of the pending appointment. If you do not choose a specific interval, the default is 7 days.

A new feature, called “Snooze,” enables you to remove patients from the “Disconnected Monitor” list for 15 days. A patient’s name returns to this list after the 15-day “snooze”. Patients can be “snoozed” from the “Manage My Patients” tab.

Once a patient is “Snoozed,” they are removed from the list and the icon is grayed out. You will also receive a confirmation of this in the “Patient Profile” section of the CareLink Network. If this patient cannot consistently transmit remote interrogations, you can choose – on the “Manage My Patients Equipment” tab – whether or not you still want to see this patient on the “Patients with Disconnected Monitors” list. The icon (noted above) is also grayed out for patients who are not consistently transmitting. 3

2. Medtronic CareAlert® Notifications Essential information at your fingertips Text messages and email messages for alert notifications now include the patient name, alert color, and alert type. This is an example of what the email and text message look like.

3. Acknowledge a Missed Transmission/Appointment Track and acknowledge missed transmissions to help you simplify your workflow Previously, there wasn’t a way to remove or acknowledge patients from the missed transmissions list. A new enhancement now makes this possible.

Now you can “Acknowledge” a missed transmission.

Once Acknowledged, the transmission status becomes “Missed (Acknowledged)” and the transmission no longer appears on the Missed Transmission list until the next scheduled transmission. Previously, a patient remained “missed” in the Next Send status column until any type of transmission had been sent. Now, rather than appearing as “missed,” the “next send” date appears instead.
