Be a part of the Yost’s history • The Yost is the oldest Theater in Orange County and is currently registered as a Historic Landmark located in the heart of revitalized historic Downtown Santa Ana, adjacent to extensive shopping, dining, and nightlife. • Built for the booming Vaudeville movement in 1912, The Yost was first named The Auditorium only to be renamed The Clunes that same year. It wasn’t until Ed Yost purchased the theater in 1919 that she acquired the name The Yost Theater. • Famous stars of their time, such as silent-film comedian Ben Turpin and vaudeville star Eva Tanguay, performed at The Yost. • During the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, owner Louie Olivos Jr. brought talent of Mexican cinema to The Yost including Antonio Aguilar, and Vicente Fernández. Later in the 1970s, Olivos had celebrities such as Ike and Tina Turner and Sonny and Cher perform at The Yost Theater. • In 2009 two ambitious guys, Dennis Lluy (founder of Koo’s Arts Cafe) and Dave Leon signed the lease to take over the business of The Yost Theater. • The Yost will be celebrating its 100 year birthday in 2012. We are undoubtedly going to throw her a huge bash!

frequently asked questions Can I use outside catering? Yes. We allow other catering services to use our kitchen for a FEE. All food making and serving certificates according to law are required. Can I bring my own drinks? No. We do not allow any outside beverages. Can I bring my own food? No, we do not allow any outside food without a catering license. How early before the event can we come and set up decorations? Generally, three hours in advance. Is smoking allowed? Yes, but only in designated areas outside the theatre. Are open flame candles allowed as for table decorations? No. Only battery operated candles are OK. What type of entertainment can we hire? We welcome a variety of types of entertainment from DJs, bands, performing arts groups, casinos to murder mysteries and impersonations to name a few. Are there any age restrictions in your venue? Not for the private events.
