SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE
BASEBALL
2016 MEDIA GUIDE
Good luck this season
Blue Storm!
A Message from the President: When Southwestern Illinois College recruits any athlete, one thing is always made clear. “You have to perform in the classroom to stay in the game.” That’s because SWIC consistently ranks in the top 100 nationally when it comes to conferring two-year degrees and certificates. On the baseball diamond, SWIC has fielded outstanding teams that consistently rank high among National Junior College Athletic Association member schools. With five regional championships during his tenure as coach, Head Coach Neil Fiala has built his program into a model of excellence both on the field and in the classroom. As a result, many of the players profiled in this guide have been recognized as Athletic Academic Honor Roll members. Besides athletic competition and rigorous academics, SWIC athletes learn about “respect for people” and the benefits of “lifelong learning,” both of which are college mission statement values. On behalf of every SWIC student-athlete, thanks for supporting Blue Storm Athletics – a program that does your community proud … on the field and in the classroom.
Pay It Forward,
Georgia Costello, Ph.D.
