During the unit, the students must complete a series of tasks including a technology component, physical activities, and math exercises. In this session we will look at different ways to use Google Forms. Learn how to create surveys and other types of forms. We will also create a test that automatically grades itself.

Room 114 Technology Resources for Science Teachers Karen Quick: Science Curriculum Specialist, Pitt County Schools

This session is a sharing of the online resources that are available, K-12, for science instruction. We will look at what is available for free and how those online resources are “best used”. For example, if you want a short video segment or animation to engage your students at the front-end of a lesson or as journal entry prompt, specific sites are better than others. Some online resources provide teacher and student materials but are difficult to decipher – this session will help you understand and navigate what is available. You will also see where this information will remain available to you throughout the school year and will have the opportunity to add and use teacher-adapted materials as well. We may also look at resources for students interested in developing science projects for submitting to the NCSEF and NCSAS.

This session is designed specifically for classroom teachers who want to understand how to get started using the grade book portion of the TAM (Teacher Assistant Module). In addition to setting preferences, creating preps, entering grades, and navigating through screens for custom viewing, TAM best practices with do’s and don’ts will be highlighted. When the TAM is used to its fullest potential it becomes an invaluable classroom teaching tool. Teachers will have immediate electronic access to student performance thus allowing for adjustments and/or re-teaching based on each individual student needs. Room 107 Best Robotics Jimmy Linn: East Carolina University

In this session, a demonstration of the BEST Robotics Robot will be conducted. BEST Robotics is a fast growing national robotics competition that teaches students STEM concepts. Typically, this robot is used by middle and high school programs to teach students engineering and technology concepts, and eventually have a regional robotics competition. If this is a competition you may be interested in, then this session is for you. There will be grant funding from the district level assist getting the robotics program off the ground in your school.

The aim of this workshop is to test and identify available resources in internet to promote the learning of foreign languages. Participants will have the opportunity to look and try them to practice specific language skills, and how they can be adapted to their classes involving students in the use of any technological device. Internet has evolved and students are more attracted to it allowing the creation of languages communities, such as the social network Face Book, which can be used to promote the use of these web pages and the use of the target language.

This session give teachers ideas for implementing Project-Based-Learning in the classroom with the use of student created websites, videos, other applications. The emphasis will be on effective ways to implement this type of teaching which can look and sound daunting at first.
