GM SOUTH AFRICA FOUNDATION The GM South Africa Foundation is the primary driver of the company’s community development activities and has a proven track record in partnering with Government and other development and education organisations to facilitate effective delivery on two of South Africa’s most critical challenges – public schooling and State-subsidised housing. Celebrating 20 years of driving change, the Foundation has carved out its own path, shunning traditional donation-driven corporate social investment approaches in favour of developing and sharing best practice models. The Foundation has reached more than 125 000 people throughout the country since its establishment in 1994, and its significant contribution to socio-economic transformation has been recognised with numerous national and international awards. In August 2015 the Fairview Link housing project initiated by the Foundation scooped the coveted Govan Mbeki award when it was named best Social Housing Project in South Africa.
