The course instructor Pt, MD, senior Lecturer Jouko T Heiskanen is a medical doctor of rehabilitation medicine in Metropolia University of applied science Helsinki, Finland. The course give an opportunities for physiotherapist to deepen the medical knowledge of functional anatomy and practical methods of profession by today's new ultrasound technology. This course called, sonopalpation - based on ultrasound visualization anatomy and biomechanics of health colleagues and does not include pathological diagnosis which the area radiologists. In our university sonopalpation has been part of the obligatory professional skills of physiotherapy, osteopathy, prosthetics and orthotics and podiatry studies more than ten years. Today sonopalpation is a part of physiotherapeutic education and clinical work in a number of countries around the world In addition to teaching anatomy ultrasound has been widely used as part of research which open new methods to develop national rehabilitation strategies. Ultrasound and sonopalpation has used as one quantitative method in many master thesis and treatments related to the education of physiotherapy. We hope that the course opens up new possibilities of manual therapy research JHEISKANEN 2011-15 COPYRIGHT
