Some Great Bible Questions INTRODUCTION: A. The Bible is reported to have 3,226 questions in it. 1. 2,233 questions in the Old Testament. 2. 993 questions in the New Testament. B. One of the best methods of imparting information is at the point of a question. Questions quickly arouse interest . . . get attention. QUESTION: "LORD, TO WHOM SHALL WE GO? YOU HAVE THE WORDS OF ETERNAL LIFE” John 6:68 A. Context and background. 1. Jesus had been teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum. 2. He had been discussing His being the bread which came down from heaven. Among others things he had: a. Referenced His flesh as food and his blood as drink. v. 55 b. He said in v. 58 – This is the bread which came down from heaven -- not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever. 3. Response: v. 60 – Therefore many of His disciples, when they heard this, said, “This is a hard saying; who can understand it?” a. Jesus knew that His disciples complained about this? v. 61 b. V. 66 – From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. c. In response to that Jesus asked the twelve in v. 67, Do you also want to go away? d. V. 68 – But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” e. I especially like what is next said in v. 69 – Also we have come to BELIEVE and KNOW that you are the Christ, the Son of God. B. “Lord. To whom shall we go?” How should that question be answered today? 1. Cannot go to the president. 2. Cannot go to the governor. 3. Cannot go to the congress. 4. Cannot go to the senate. 5. Cannot go to a judge. 6. Cannot go to your husband. 7. Cannot go to your wife. 8. Cannot go to your parents.

C. The point is no man can save. 1. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.' D. Relatives cannot save you. 1. Luke 14:26 - If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 2. Matthew 10:35-38 - For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-inlaw'; and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.' He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. E. We need to listen to the Lord and obey Him. 1. Acts 4:11-12 - This is the 'stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." 2. Matthew 11:28-30 - Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

QUESTION: "WHERE ARE YOU?" Genesis 3:9 A. Many do not know where they are in the program of God. B. Why did God ask Adam that question? 1. Adam was not where He should have been. 2. The Bible teaches that all have sinned . . . just like Adam . . . and can not hide the fact and cannot get away with it. The day of reckoning will come when man has to face God and give an account to the Judge he has appointed. 1. John 5:22 - the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son. 2. Romans 14:10-12 - For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God." So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 3. Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 4. 1 John 5:19 - We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. 5. Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." E. “Where are you?” (NKJV) “Where art thou.” (KJV) 1. Many are still in sin. John 5:40 - But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. 2. Many are still in denominationalism. a. Matthew 15:13-14 - "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch." b. Matthew 15:8-9 - "These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.

THE WORLD’S GREATEST QUESTION. A. The world’s greatest question is not: 1. How to make a fortune? 2. How to live to be 100? B. The world’s greatest question is: 1. “What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?” Matthew 19:16 2. “What must I do to be saved?” Acts 16:30 3. “What shall we do?” Acts 2:37 4. “Lord. What do You want me to do?” Acts 9:6 C. Please observe: 1. The UNBELIEVER was told to believe. Acts 16:30-34 - And he brought them out and said,"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" So they said,"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household. 2. The BELIEVER was told to “repent and be baptized.” Acts 2:37-38 - Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 3. The PENITENT BELIEVER was told to “Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Acts 22:16 a. Mark 16:15-16 - And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. b. OTHER GREAT QUESTIONS ABOUT SALVATION. A. Hebrew 2:3 - How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him. B. Matthew 16:26 - For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? C. Acts 22:16 - And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Ezekiel 3:17-21 - "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. "Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.
