When the morning was come / so, we’re learning what happened that Good Wednesday morning,

all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
todos los principales pontífices y ancianos del pueblo dispusieron contra Jesús un plan para entregarlo a muerte:

when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Cuando llegó la mañana / así que estamos aprendiendo lo que pasó esa buena mañana Miércoles,
y cuando lo llevaron atado y lo entregaron a Poncio Pilato, el gobernador. 3 Entonces

Judas, el que lo había entregado,
Judas, which had betrayed him, cuando viendo que era condenado,
when he saw that He was condemned, repented himself / the word is: metamellomai; meta = change + melo = care + mai = the middle voice, so for our personal benefit…this word has to do with what we care about. Judas cared about himself. Notice, it is not the word: metanoeo— change your thinking. Judas, who obviously was pained by his treachery… realized what he had done, probably even squalling and bawling; he regretted what he did,
and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
él arrepentido / la palabra es: metamellomai; meta = cambiar + melo = atención + mai = el medio de la voz, para nuestro beneficio personal... esta palabra tiene que ver con lo que nos interesa. Judas se preocupaba por sí mismo. Aviso, no es la palabra: metanoeo—cambiar su pensamiento. Judas, el que obviamente estaba dolido por su traición... se dio cuenta de lo que había hecho, probablemente incluso gritando y llorando; lamenta lo que hizo, y devolvió las treinta piezas de plata a los sumos pontífices y los ancianos, 4

I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood.
Diciendo: Yo he pecado entregando sangre inocente. Pero ellos dijeron:
And they said, What is that to us? you see to that / in other words: his religious confessors said, that’s your problem!

he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple,

and went and hanged himself / just hours earlier, Jesus had said: better it had been for him, that he was not born.
y fue y se ahorcó / para horas antes, Jesús había dicho: mejor hubiera sido por él, que no nació.
6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces

/ they always take the money: silver, gold, euros, dollars, whatever treasure, check or credit card -no problem,
los sumos pontífices tomando las piezas de plata / ellos siempre toman el dinero: plata, oro, euros, dólares, cualquier tesoro, cheque o tarjeta de crédito -- no hay problema,
and said,

It is not lawful / suddenly, they are worried about the law; what is that all about?

It is not lawful… for to put them into the treasury,

because it is the price of blood.

they took counsel,

and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

that field was called,

The field of blood, to this day.

was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet,

And they took the thirty pieces of silver,

the price of him that was valued,
precio del apreciado,
whom they of the children of Israel did value;

Así se cumplió lo dicho por el profeta, Jeremías,
las dieron para el campo del alfarero, como me ordeno el Señor / no sé, es la fosa donde se lanzaron los vasos rotos y desfigurados;

and isn’t it interesting how everything associated with Jesus has profound meaning. The prophet is telling us: Jesus’ life redeemed the discards and rejects of mankind. It is also interesting to note, which writer remembers what detail in the life of Christ. This event is recorded by Matthew, the tax collector.
y es interesante cómo todo asociado con Jesús tiene profundo significado. El profeta nos está diciendo: la vida de Jesús redimió el descarte y rechazos de la humanidad. Verse 11 And Jesus stood before the governor:

and the governor asked him, saying, Are You the King of the Jews?
y el gobernador le preguntó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los judíos?
And Jesus said to him,
Jesús le dijo:
You said it / in other words: you said it right; you are speaking my language.
Tú lo dices: / en otras palabras: tú lo has dicho derecho; que habla mi idioma.

when He was accused of the chief priests and elders,

He answered nothing.
Él nada respondió.
13 Then

said Pilate to him,
Y siendo acusado por los sumos pontífices y los ancianos,
entonces le dijo:
Do You not hear how many things they witness against You? / don’t you hear the massive case they are trying to build against you?
¿No oyes cuantas cosas testifican contra ti? / no oyes el caso masivo que intentan construir contra ti?

He answered him to never a word / Jesus didn’t say a peep; He just stood there;

insomuch that the governor
de tal manera que el gobernador
marveled greatly / Pilate was astonished; he was perplexed. He was at a loss of words; he didn’t know what to do… and Jesus is in the center of God’s will, majestically fulfilling God’s plan -perfectly.
estaba muy asombrado / Pilato se sorprendió; estaba perplejo. Estaba en una pérdida de palabras; No sabía qué hacer... y Jesús está en el centro de la voluntad de Dios, majestuosamente cumpliendo con el plan de Dios -- perfectamente.

at that feast / the feast of the Passover, the first of 7 feasts belonging to the Lord,

the governor was accustomed to release to the people a prisoner,

whom they would / whom they requested; who they wanted; it was Pilate’s habit, his practice to give clemency to one prisoner of the public choice.

they had then a notable prisoner,
bien, en el dia de la fiesta / la fiesta de la Pascua, la primera de las 7 fiestas perteneciente al Señor,
tenían entonces un preso famoso,
called Barabbas / his name: Bar-abbas, literally means: son of the father; probably the popular Jesse James or Lucky Luciano of his day -- you know, the people’s choice. Or, more likely it was a criminal paid by these religious leaders… who caused insurrection in order to destabilize the power of this weak roman governor… resulting in murder.
llamado Barrabás / su nombre: Bar-abbas, literalmente significa: hijo del padre; probablemente la popular Jesse James o Lucky Luciano de su época -- ya sabes, elección de la gente. O, más probablemente era un criminal pagado por estos líderes religiosos... que causó la insurrección con el fin de desestabilizar el poder de este gobernador romano débil... resultando en asesinato.
17 Therefore
when they were gathered together, Pilate said to them,

Who do you want me to release to you?

Barabbas,
Barrabás,
or Jesus who is called Christ?
o a Jesús, llamado el Cristo?
18 For
he knew / Pilate knew…
Por tanto cuando reunidos, pues, Pilato les dijo:

that for envy / for their bitter jealousy and resentment…

Have nothing to do with that just man / that righteous man:

for I have suffered many things
porque he sufrido mucho
this day in a dream because of him / she had a violent nightmare; apparently, the spirit world was busy working overtime… attempting to stop this crucifixion.

the chief priests persuaded the multitude

elders

that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus / and things haven’t changed much, have they?
que pidiera a Barrabás y que se diera muerte a Jesús / y las cosas no han cambiado mucho, ¿verdad?

and said to them,

Whether of the twain / which of the two will you that I release to you?

What shall I do then with Jesus

They all say to him,

Let him be crucified.

the governor said,

Why,
¿Pues,
what evil has He done? / notice, Pilate is starting to talk back to the crowd: whoever this crowd was… he has lost control;
qué mal ha hecho? / aviso, Pilato está empezando a hablar de nuevo a la multitud: quien era esta multitud... ha perdido control;

But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified / the religious leaders said: Kill him! Execute him! Murder him!
Pero ellos gritaron aún más, diciendo: ¡Sea crucificado! / los líderes religiosos dijeron: ¡Matarlo! ¡Ejecutarlo! ¡Asesinarlo!
24 When
Pilate saw that he could not prevail, but that rather a tumult was made,

he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying,

I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

answered all the people / whoever these people were, and said,

His blood be on us,

and on our children.
y sobre nuestros hijos.
From that moment on, the Jewish leaders of the day committed spiritual suicide… leading their people into a wilderness of spiritual insanity… over the next 40 years; until the city… and the temple were finally destroyed.
A partir de ese momento, los líderes judíos del día se suicidaron espiritualmente... liderando a su gente en un desierto de locura espiritual... en los próximos 40 años; hasta que finalmente se destruyeron la ciudad y el templo.
Months later, in Acts 5… we already read: these same religious leaders accuse Peter saying, We command you that ye should not teach in this Name. And behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.

Wow! Spiritual amnesia; spiritual hogwash! Nope! They asked for it. And you know what? They’re the leaders; God heard their prayer.
