Skyward: Ridgewood Public Schools Student Information System The Ridgewood Public Schools offers parents of our school community an information service called “Skyward Family Access”. Family Access is a password‐protected website that provides parents access to schedules, grades, homework, attendance, classroom messages, food service and fee management information. The information in Family Access will aid in ongoing communication between you and your child’s teachers and promote student success. Any questions and problems should be sent to [email protected] Parent/Guardian Login Instructions Each parent/guardian will have their own user account. DO NOT share a username/password with your child. 1. Open your Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome). 2. Go to the Ridgewood Public School website at http://www.ridgewood.k12.nj.us/ . 3. Click on Parents. 4. Click on Skyward Family Access.

FOR FIRST TIME USERS or IF YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN YOUR LOGIN/PASSWORD a. Click on “Forgot your Login/Password?” b. If this is your first time using Skyward enter the email address submitted during registration. If you are a returning user, enter the email address you have associated with your Skyward account. c. Check your email for a message from [email protected]. View this email. d. Click on the reset password link in the email. e. Take note of your username next to Login. f. Set a new password. The password must be at least 6 characters long and include alphabetic, numeric and special characters (for example @#$!%^) . g. Click on Submit button. Enter your Login ID and Password and Click on Sign In.

Navigating Family Access

The navigation links above will be available to you on any Family Access screen you see. Use these links to quickly navigate through the system. For families with multiple students, use the Student drop down menu to select the student for whom you wish to view information. Use the General Information links to see more detailed information about calendar, student information, gradebook, food service and more. Use the Account Info button to access information about your login and email. The print button will print the active page. Please use the logout button at the end of your session. Keeping your Skyward information current In order to maintain the communication between schools, parents and students, it is essential that you check Skyward regularly and that there are current email addresses and phone numbers in Skyward Family and Student Access. If your information changes, please take a few moments to update your Skyward information. To change your email address

Click on “Account Info.” Click on “Change email.” Enter new email address and Click SAVE.

To update/enter your student’s email address An email address is required for students to retrieve Student Access login/password information, as well as to receive messages from principals and teachers. Parents can initialize their students’ email addresses through Skyward Family Access. a. b. c. d. e.

Select student’s name from the drop-down list at the top. Select Student Information. Select Request Change(s) to My Child’s Information. Select Request Changes to Student Information. Enter Home Email and click SAVE.

Students can later change their own information by logging on to Student Access > Account Info > Change My Password or Change my Email. To update/change Telephone numbers a. Select student’s name from the drop-down list at the top. b. Select Student Information. c. Select Request Change(s) to my Child’s Information. d. Select Request Changes to Family Information. e. Enter the new phone number and click SAVE.

To update/change Student Name or Address Changes to student’s name and address require you to present proof of legal name and proof of residency to your student’s school. To update/change Emergency Contacts a. Select student’s name from the drop-down list at the top. b. Select Student Information. c. Select Request Change(s) to my Child’s Information. d. Select Request Changes to Emergency Contacts, or Change Order of Emergency Contacts, or Add a New Emergency Contact. e. Enter the new information and click SAVE.

Checking Food Service and Fee Balances Login to Skyward Family Access, select each of your student’s names in turn (at the top of your screen) and then select Food Service or Fee Management (on the left of your screen). Each of your students has his/her own separate account, so each student’s account balance, charges, and payments are unique. Making Payments For Fees, Fines, or Food Service As a convenience to parents, Ridgewood Public Schools provides an easy way to make online payments for Fees and Food Service through Skyward Family Access. Payments can be made from any computer 24/7 using a Discover, VISA or MasterCard debit or credit card. We have contracted with RevTrak, a national credit card payment processor, to provide a secure site for making payments. Please be aware that there is a $3.50 convenience fee per transaction for making an online payment. You can also pay by check (see below). Steps for making online payments: 1. Logon to Skyward Family Access. (Skyward Family Access can be found on our website under Parents. If you have forgotten your logon and password and you have a valid email address in our Skyward system, you can select Forgot Login/Password link on the logon screen to receive a reset link.) 2. Click either the Food Service or Fee Management links on the left panel under General Information. When the window opens click on the Make Online Payment button.

3. Select Update Payment Amount for the desired type of payment.

Click on the Add button on the bottom to add current year fees for payment Check the Pay Charge box next to the fees you will pay in this transaction on the top portion of the screen Select Update Cart to return to the Single Point of Entry screen and review charges.

Note: If your child participates in at least one activity during the year, you are required to pay this fee. Fees are capped at $100 for Middle School students and $150 for High School Students. So if your child participates in one or more activities you will only pay one fee for the year.

4. When you have completed the process for all students in your family, the total payment amount will be display at the bottom. Select Pay with Vendor when finished. 5. Your shopping cart will display. Review items and select Go to Checkout.

At checkout, enter your RevTrak account login information (email address and RevTrak password) or, if this is the first time making an online payment, create a RevTrak account by selecting I am a new customer. (RevTrak and Skyward are separate systems each with its own password). 7. Select Sign in using our secure server to continue and complete the transaction. Making Payments by Check: Payment may also be made by check payable to Ridgewood Board of Education and submitted to the student’s school. Write your student's name, school, and “Foods” or “Fees” on the check, and deliver it to your child's school. You may submit one check payment to be allocated among several of your children’s Food Service accounts. Please provide each student’s full name, school, and the amount to be credited to his/her account. For middle/high school fees, please use separate checks, because those are handled by each individual school. All questions and problems should be sent to [email protected]

Elementary School Lunch Ordering Lunches are ordered on a monthly basis. You will be notified by email when the lunch ordering window is open for the upcoming month. No late orders will be accepted. To order lunch for your elementary school child, logon to Skyward Family Access with your own logon and password. You will find the link to Skyward Family Access on the District website (www.ridgewood.k12.nj.us) under Parents. If you have forgotten your password, please select the link Forgot your Login/Password on the logon page. Select your child from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. Select Step 1: Lunch Order. This will display your child’s unique student information. Please ensure that this is the child for whom you wish to order lunch. Click on the link Enter Lunch Order and complete the order form for the month. When you have completed your order, you will receive an email verification notice. If, before the ordering period closes, you need to make a change to your order, you must completely reorder for the month.

On the order form, VERIFY the student information and enter the following information:    

Your Email Address (for an email confirmation of your order) DO NOT CHANGE THE STUDENT NAME OR ID NUMBER ON THE FORM. Select the lunch items you would like to order for each day. Select SUBMIT on the bottom of the form when finished.

Return to the Skyward screen and click the Close button. If you wish to order lunch for another child select their name from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen and repeat the process. You will not pay for lunches here; this is only for pre-ordering lunch. Instructions on how to pay for lunch can be found on the District website, Parents, Fee Mgmt & Lunch Info or in this document in the section entitled Making Payments For Fees, Fines, or Food Service. The charges for your lunch order are not posted to Skyward Family Access until after the close of the ordering window.

Elementary School Lunch Cancellation If you need to cancel lunch for your child, cancellations must be received by 8:00 a.m. on the day of cancellation in order to receive a credit. To cancel lunch, logon to Skyward Family Access. Select your child from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen. Click on the link for School Year 20##-##.

Select the step for Cancel Lunch. This will display your child’s unique student information. Please ensure that this is the child for whom you wish to cancel lunch. Click on the link Cancel Lunch Order and complete the cancellation form.

On the form, VERIFY the student name. Do not change the Student’s Name or Student’s Other ID number. (If you have selected the wrong student close the window and select the correct student from Skyward). Next enter the following information on the cancel lunch form:  Lunch Date to Cancel, Student’s Grade, and Teacher  Your Email Address (to receive a confirmation email)  Select SUBMIT on the bottom of the form when finished. (You will receive an email verification notice.)

Return to the Skyward screen and click the Close button. If you have another child to cancel lunch for, select their name from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen and repeat the process. The cancelled lunch will be removed from your student’s purchases in Skyward Family Access in about one week. Your outstanding balance will reflect the cancellation.
