Skills Training in Therapeutic Assessment with Children, Adolescents, and Families Kursen är ackrediterad som specialistkurs, se nedan. Presenters: Marita Frackowiak, Ph.D. Lionel Chudzik, Ph.D. Therapeutic Assessment (TA) can be a powerful intervention with variety of clients. The model for working with children, adolescents and their families is especially meaningful when shifting families’ “story” about their problems in living, but it can pose multiple challenges to clinicians working with psychological assessment in the context of family system. In this Skills Training workshop, members of the faculty of Therapeutic Assessment Institute will provide their conceptualization for how Therapeutic Assessment can be used as an intense, short-term intervention with different types of families. In addition to the presentation of didactic material and discussion, the presenters will show video vignettes from their sessions with clients to demonstrate the power and impact of the model. A full day will be devoted to Case Conceptualization and Family Intervention Sessions, as these pose the biggest challenge for new and seasoned clinicians alike. Throughout the training, participants will take an active role in practicing TA skills in small role-play groups. This training assumes basic familiarity with the TA model and is best suited for licensed psychologists/clinicians, who already attended Level 1 Introductory TA-C workshop with families. The training also assumes some familiarity with standard psychological assessment instruments such as the WAIS-IV, the MMPI-2, the Rorschach, and the TAT. Upon registration, each participant will be provided with a list of readings to help them

prepare for the training and to satisfy the requirement of the specialist program in Sweden. An exam will be administered upon course completion, also in accordance with the specialist program accreditation requirement.

The Presenters Marita Frackowiak, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in private practice at the Center for Therapeutic Assessment in Austin, TX. She is a founding member of the Therapeutic Assessment Institute and a Lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Frackowiak is certified in Therapeutic Assessment with adults, children, adolescents, and couples. Dr. Frackowiak has worked with Dr. Stephen Finn for more than a decade providing clinical services, conducting research, writing, and providing trainings on Therapeutic Assessment. Her current focus, in addition to clinical work, is lecturing internationally and offering consultation for clinicians wanting to learn the model. He is the founder of the Center for the Treatment and Study of Externalized Disorders at the psychiatric hospital at Alençon (Normandy, France) and a Faculty member of the Therapeutic Assessment Institute. He works in private practice with adults, couples, children, and families. He has been an associate professor at the University of Tours. Dr. Chudzik has published

numerous papers about psychological assessment and Therapeutic Assessment with adults and children. He is the author of the French validation of the MMPI-2-RF and the co-editor, with Pr Serge Sultan, of Du diagnostic au traitement: Rorschach et MMPI-2.
