Overview Welcome to the SketchBook® Mobile Overview! After reading through users' comments and questions, we created this section to answer some of the questions raised.

What is a marking menu? A marking menu is a hidden menu containing tools. To access it: Tap

, then tap a brush or tool.

What is a gesture? A gesture is a shortcut motion that uses one or two fingers to access a tool, change image orientation, zoom in, and more.

Here is a list of standard gestures used in SketchBook Mobile: Undo

Adding a color swatch Tap-drag the color band anywhere within the color swatches to add a color swatch of that color.

Keep in mind, at present, this overwrites the previous swatch in that location.

What is simulated pressure sensitivity? It is a property that makes lines get thinner and more transparent at the beginning and end of strokes.

For example, the stroke of a default pencil fades at the tip. The speed of your stroke affects how long the fading portion is. For Galaxy Note users, SketchBook uses the pressure from your stylus.

In the Brush Editor, the Min and Max values for Size and Opacity drive this.

Therefore, if Min is 2 pixels and Max is 8, the synthetic pressure will apply this range to the ends of strokes, based on the speed/intensity of your strokes, creating what we call "simulated pressure sensitivity".

What are blend modes? Blend modes are found in the Layer Editor.

The following modes determine how the top layer and one below are combined:

Normal doesn't combine the layers.

Multiply creates a combination that's darker than either layer.

Add creates a combination of the top layer's hues and bottom's content.

Screen creates a combination that's lighter than either layer.

How does Fill work? The Fill tool is found in the Brush Editor and marking menu.

The Fill tool floods a closed area with paint.

If a layer has enclosed areas (the area is surrounded by pixels of a different color), and you tap inside one of them, only that region is flooded with paint.

If you tap outside an enclosed area, paint floods the outer area.

Fill only floods the entire layer with paint if the layer is empty. Therefore, though you may see regions created on other layers, if you are on an empty layer, paint will completely flood the empty layer and ignore any pixels on other layers.
