To ask before switching to Hosted PBX

Connecting You. Connecting With You.

Hoste d P BX (often referred to as ‘Cloud Phone Systems’)

brings your phone system hardware offsite, saving you thousands on equipment and maintenance. Switching to a Hosted PBX system is a big switch, but can yield incredible advantages in terms of cost, features, and crisis management.

Q

What is Hosted PBX? Traditional business telephone systems require expensive on-site telephony equipment called a Premise Based Exchange (PBX). This is hosted on the organization’s site, and requires regular maintenance and oversight from a IT professional. Hosted PBX systems are housed completely offsite (hosted at the service provider’s location). The users connect via IP to the provider for voice service.

Q

Are you ready for Hosted PBX? Everyone’s talking about Voice over IP (VoIP). Although the technology has been around for more than a decade, recent advances has rendered VoIP as a solid telephony performance system, resulting in large corporations now making the switch. A Hosted PBX (Cloud based) telephony system offers the same features of traditional phones, but at a fraction of the cost. If you’re looking for VoIP, but your organization has invested in an in-house IP PBX hardware, now many not be the time to make the move to cloud (in that case, SIP Trunking works well with your IP PBX system). However, if you’re looking to upgrade, or scale your business, Hosted is the right option for your business.

What are the cost savings?

Q

The savings by switching to a Hosted PBX system are significant. Companies that have implemented Cloud based solutions are now paying a fraction of the cost of their previous phone system. This includes the cost savings of the PBX hardware at your location and the maintenance associated with this equipment (often an IT resource is required to regularly maintain these systems). Because the systems are hosted remotely, maintenance costs are covered by the provider. In addition, most phone systems are priced at a very affordable rate per user, and often include features like Voicemail, Conference Calling, and much more.

Q

How easy is the system to use? Is support available? Hosted systems are not at all difficult to implement, as set up typically takes only a few weeks, and users can expect the same features as a regular phone system (whether using a VoIP phone handset or a softphone from their computer). Hosted providers, while remote, offer support and troubleshooting, and since they own the systems, can be counted on to fix problems immediately as they arise. If you have IT personnel on site, they can work with the Hosted provider to help ensure that problems are dealt with effectively.

How reliable is the phone service?

Q

If your business is like most, you cannot afford downtime. You need a phone system that is reliable with guaranteed uptimes. Clients who have switched to Hosted PBX systems continue to be impressed with the overall reliability of these phone systems, and found that the cost savings have well justified the switch. Disaster recovery is a signifcant advantage of Hosted services. If your local phone system is down, the system still runs uninterruptedly in the cloud. Many Hosted PBX providers can quickly make changes in emergency situations so calls are routed into secondary call devices (such as your mobile phone) – providing you significantly more reliability in the event of a disaster, power or phone outage.

Q

Is your business growing? Is scalability a concern? A growing business is always a good thing, but can present some challenges.Expanding businesses require new users and subsequently more phones. Scalable phone systems must be able to meet the rising demands of your organization. Another significant advantage of Hosted and online phone systems is the ability to easily scale, unlike traditional phone systems. If your business is growing, or you are in the very early stages of considering growth, it may be time to consider a Hosted system.

Are you ready? While only you know the unique telecommunications challenges of your business, it may be time to consider what moving to a Hosted system can do for you.
