Smarter
Simple to Install • Fast and error-free plug-and-play connections • No complex Class 2 wiring required • No large control cabinets to install or panel schedules to update • Commissioning is not required to meet code: just set the time and date • No special communication cables required
SIMPLY5TM lighting intelligence is built on the premise that controls should be simple for everyone, from the specifier to the contractor to the occupant. It represents an innovative departure from the traditional piecemeal approach to lighting energy management. With conventional systems, designers and installers are faced with trying to meet codes using a wide variety of lighting fixtures, relay panels, dimming systems, occupancy and daylight sensors. The SIMPLY5 approach is different, adding intelligence to highly efficient lighting fixtures and controls components to optimize them for energy management. Because all devices are intelligent, SIMPLY5 automates many setup, calibration and programming tasks which must be performed manually on other systems.
Simple to Design & specify • Meets automated control requirements for ASHRAE, IECC , Title 24 and EPAct • No relay or dimmer cabinet schedules to complete • Lays out similarly to ordinary line voltage manual switching • No occupancy sensor layouts required
Maximize Energy Savings
Simply
Better 2
SIMPLY5 lighting intelligence maximizes lighting energy savings by first lowering the base consumption. It then distributes intelligent controls, enabling the easy incorporation of one or more timeclock, occupant or daylight-based automated controls. Finally, fully integrated load shed capabilities empower the property owner to take full advantage of EPAct mandated real-time energy pricing and manage their own energy consumption while complying with utility incentives.
Simple to Use • Intuitive interface allows occupants to easily adjust the light level for the task at hand; as low as 3% for AV presentations • Seven specific dimming levels available; 85 levels available for load shedding • Automatically adapts to occupant schedule changes
Simple to Expand • Switches, occupancy sensors and photocells may be added for automated time-clock control, occupancy sensing and daylight harvesting • System may be scaled post-installation to accomodate areas as small as a single room or as large as a multi-building campus • Components may be easily reconfigured to accommodate changes
Simple to Maintain • SYLVANIA QUICKTRONICTM multi-step electronic ballasts with program-start features maximize lamp life • Adaptive electronics stay calibrated without manual adjustment • Commissioning is not necessary when adding or replacing components • Adaptive scheduling accommodates occupants’ usage automatically without reprogramming
Gain Flexibility With SIMPLY5, changes to the use of a building no longer require reprogramming or recommissioning of the control system. The integrated plug-and-play control elements make the system flexible and easy to reconfigure, as components can be added or removed at any time. Additionally, with local dimming and override controls, occupants have the power to create their personal environment.

Intelligent The advantage of Distributed Intelligence
Current systems are difficult to work with because they address energy management strictly from a controls viewpoint. This limits the ability to envision a more integrated and flexible design. SIMPLY5 lighting intelligence functions as a whole system, adding intelligence to highly efficient lighting fixtures and controls components. The result is a complete solution that is easy for everyone.

Superior
SIMPLY5 Lighting Intelligence vs. Other Traditional Controls Technologies
Traditional Control Technologies
SIMPLY5 Technology
Zone Wiring
Each zone requires homerun wiring back to the relay panel
Connect zone at any point on circuit; no independent homerun required
Low-voltage and Line-voltage Wiring
Low-voltage wiring must be kept separate from line voltage
All control and line-voltage wiring in one easy connector
Adding Components
Adding photocell and/or occupancy sensors requires additional addressing and wiring
Tee connectors allow easy connection of photocells & occupancy sensors in any zone
Time-clock Capabilities
Time-clock schedules must be manually programmed
Time clock automatically adapts to occupant usage for each room
Programming Required
All controls must be programmed/ commissioned before they will function
Plug-and-play controls work as soon as they are connected

In this comparison, the occupancy sensor system provides the occupants simple on/off manual control, relay system provides bi-level control, and the dimming system provides full-range (100% - 5%) dimming of the lights. In all cases, public areas such as corridors are on/off control only.
In today’s office building environment, lighting can demand up to 44% of the overall building energy usage. As a result, both federal and state energy codes mandate the use of manual and/or automated control technologies. SIMPLY5 lighting intelligence helps specifiers and owners meet these stringent energy code requirements more efficiently and effectively. Scalable components and system architecture enable flexible energy savings for most large and small projects.Through adaptive scheduling, SIMPLY5 helps optimize the energy savings by automatically adapting, configuring and adjusting to each room’s schedule.
