Shop DOE 2.0 Tutorial In order to better suit the needs of our users, Shop DOE 2.0 has undergone a system upgrade. This tutorial has been designed to pin point new features, while taking you through a search, focusing on our new Commodity “Trade Books.” While our focus here is “Trade Books,” the general steps can be used for all other commodities as well. Begin by going to the Shop DOE home page (https://dfoforms.nycenet.edu/ecatalog/) and entering your email address to log in. Next click on the shopping cart or hit enter from your computer’s keyboard to enter the site.

Once you have logged in you will be taken to a basic search engine page. Here you will be able to search for an item by selecting a specific commodity and/or field. Take the time to familiarize yourself with the new selections available under the Commodity drop down menu.

1

Should you decide that you would like to narrow your search a little further, simply click on “Advance Search;” you will be taken to the advance search engine. Here you are able to search by entering multiple fields at once.

2

Since the focus in this tutorial is on “Trade Books” we will begin our search by clicking on the “Trade Book” Commodity and the “Book Title and Main Description” Field. Next type in “The Catcher in the Rye,” and click on the search button to see the results.

3

You will find that the page looks very similar to what you are already used to, with a few additions. To view the item, click on the “camera” icon and you will be taken to expanded information regarding that particular item. Hold your mouse over the “i” icon and you will be given additional information including but not limited to ISBN, Publisher and author. Looking for vendor information? Simply click on the vendor’s name and all of the contact information for that vendor will pop up in a separate screen. The item form (Hardback, Paperback, etc.) in which the item is available is also now easily read on the search result page. You now have the ability to find out the real time availability of the item you selected by clicking on the “Check” button. Below you will find a list of common results, which are defined as the Publishing Industry’s standard web-calls.

This example will show you what happens when there are multiple vendors selling the same item. In order to view the items from multiple vendors, simply, click on the “+” icon which will expand, and allow you to view the items, pricing and item availability.

6

The vendor offering the lowest price will have a “Lowest Price” icon indicating which item, of those included in the search is the best value price point.

7

You are now ready to make your item selection. Please note that the only items you are able to add to the cart are those items which are currently available. In some cases, if the item is not available for purchase, the “add to cart” icon will be grayed out and not allow you to purchase the item.

Depending on availability and the type of web-call, once you add the item to your shopping cart you have the ability to enter the quantity you wish to purchase and see the updated total. You may only be allowed to enter the available quantity, depending on the web-call. If your needs require more than is available you have two options: buy the balance from the second vendor or backorder the quantity that completes your order. Now that you have entered the quantity you need, click on “update” to update the shopping cart and calculate the new total. Click on the “shopping cart” to view all the items in your shopping cart.

8

At this point you can review your items and make final decisions about quantity. If you would like to continue shopping; click on “continue shopping” and it will take you back to the basic search engine. If you are ready to checkout, click on “check out” and it will take you to the check out page.

9

After clicking on “check out” you will be directed to the above page. Here you will fill in all the information in all the required fields as noted by the asterisk (*).
