HSK Series cable glands comply with highest demands as regards quality and safety. We supply cable glands made of polyamide, PVDF, brass and a variety of stainless steels. Different thread types, clamping ranges, thread lengths, temperature ranges, a variety of sealing compounds and a diversity of Approval Certifications come as standard with the HSK Series.

HSK Series cable glands comply with highest demands as regards quality and safety. Two different EMC protection systems ensure long contact life and easy-to-assemble application. Different thread types, thread lengths, clamping ranges, temperature ranges, a variety of sealing compounds and a diversity of Approval Certifications come as standard with the HSK Series.

HSK for special applications

HSK Series cable glands comply with highest demands as regards quality and safety. Here you will find threaded couplings of polyamide and brass with multiple and flat cable inserts, with bend protection and angled threaded connectors. In addition you will find here special sizes of brass in M6 up to M110, as well as with 2 1/2“ up to 4“ pipe threads and threaded couplings with additional strain relief.

METRICA Cable Glands

METRICA Series cable glands are based purely on metric sizes. As a result they are especially space-saving while optimising the clamping range. They are available in polyamide with bend protection, as well as in brass and EMC versions.

Here you will find locknuts and locks made of polyamide, brass and stainless steel, as well as additional accessories for all the Series in our industrial cable glands.

Feed through of cable and shield (braided or foil) + expose shield approximately 7/16" (10 mm) + insert cable into fitting until the shield reaches the contact position. + tighten dome nut.

Option 2

Feed through of cable and shield (braided or foil) + remove cable jacket to expose shield as required. + insert cable into fitting until the shield reaches the contact position. + tighten dome nut.

Option 3

Termination of the braided shield in the fitting +strip cable jacket and braided shield to different lenghts. + for small diameter cables fold the braided shield back over the cable jacket. + Insert cable into fitting until the shield reaches the contact position. + tighten dome nut.

CABLE GLAND SELECTION HOW TO SELECT THE CORRECT CABLE GLAND When selecting cable glands, the following things need to be considered:

DEGREE OF PROTECTION REQUIRED  Alco cable glands comply with the requirements of AS/NZS 60079 and 61241.1. The IP rating (or Ingress Protection) is used  to indicate the degree of environmental protection for electrical equipment and enclosures. The numbers that make up the  rating are explained below. The first digit refers to the protection against the ingress of solid foreign objects and access to hazard parts Rating 0 1 2 3 4 5 6

EX D- FLAMEPROOF ENCLOSURE (AS/NZS 60079.1) This type of protection refers to the enclosure of an electrical apparatus designed for explosive gas atmospheres to prevent  ignition of a surrounding gas during normal operation. That is, the apparatus will withstand an internal explosion and prevent  an external one. This protection applies to Zone 1 (where explosive atmosphere occurs during normal operation).

EX E- INCREASED SAFETY (AS/NZS 60079.7) This type of protection refers to the enclosure of an electrical apparatus designed to prevent excessive heat or any sparks  occurring during normal operation. Increased measures are taken to avoid this from happening. This protection applies to  Zone 1.

EX IA- INTRINSIC SAFETY (AS/NZS 60079.11) This type of protection refers to the enclosure of an electrical apparatus designed to prevent excess voltage and current  from creating sparks with enough energy to ignite gases. This protection applies to Zone 0 (where explosive atmosphere is  constantly present).

EX IB- INTRINSIC SAFETY (AS/NZS 60079.11) This type of protection is the same as Ex ia, however it applies to Zone 1. 

ED P- PRESSURISED ENCLOSURE (AS/NZS 60079.2) This type of protection refers to the enclosure of an electrical apparatus designed to prevent ingress of external gases into  the enclosure by maintaining a positive pressure above that of the external one. That is, it passes protective gas through the  enclosure. This protection applies to Zone 1.

CABLE GLAND SELECTION HOW TO SELECT THE CORRECT CABLE GLAND WHETHER A STANDARD GLAND OR BARRIER GLAND IS REQUIRED

Barrier glands are typically used in applications where standard glands featuring elastomeric seals are  insufficient. Barrier glands are similar to standard cable glands, except a compound sealant (insulputty) is  required that is used to seal around the individual cores. This is done to ensure the inside and outside of   the cable remain liquid tight. Furthermore, the following questions need to be answered to establish whether a barrier gland is required 1.  I s the cable round, compact and effectively filled?  Yes-> move to next question  No-> barrier gland is required 2.   Does the enclosure have an internal source of ignition?  Yes-> move to next question  No-> standard gland may be used 3.   Does the hazardous gas require IIC apparatus?  Yes-> barrier gland should be used  No-> move to next question

1. Measure the outside diameter (OD) of the cable. 2.  Select a cable gland having the measured cable OD falling between the ëOAí maximum of seal ëAí and the ëOAí minimum  of seal ëBí or ëCí, where applicable, shown under the cable details column.  Then select seal A, B or C as  appropriate. e.g. For a 15mm OD cable you would select TAUCG25 with seal B or  TAUCH25 with seal B.

1. Measure the outside diameter (OD) of the cable. 2. Measure the overbedding diameter of the cable (diameter under armour). 3.  Select a cable gland having the measured cable OD falling between the ëOAí minimum and the ëOAí maximum of seals ëAí  and ëBí when included. Ensure the overbedding diameter is within the specified range shown under the cable details column  e.g. For an  OB diameter of 31mm and an OD of 41mm you would select TAACG40 or TAACH40B. 4. Ensure armour size lies within specified range.

That means that Treoflex provides peace of mind when it comes to worker safety and asset protection.
