For the many wizards and witches out there who are craving their very own wand and aren’t able to make it to Universal Studios, come and create your very own magical wand! We will provide all the magical materials, you bring your favorite Potter Spells! NO PEANUTS PLEASE :) You will leave your session with a homemade musical instrument!!!!!!! We will be working with frosting and food dye, so please bring a cooking apron or wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty. Each participant will be able to choose the pattern of the fleece used to cover their bed-sized pillow. Students will be given instruction to cut and tie the fleece material along the edges of the pillow to create a fringed soft fuzzy creation to take home.

Tae Kwon Do An introduction to Tae Kwon Do! Tae Kwon Do helps boost self confidence, focus, and increases balance and strength. Want to yell as loud as you can? Hit things without getting into trouble? Come check out Tae Kwon Do! Grades Max # of Students Fee Instructor th K-6 20 0 Master James Netzel Photography This class is ideal for kids new to photography, who want to learn about photography in a fun way. Class will contain an introduction to the project with photography tips tailored to the assignment. You will learn some basics of the camera modes and setting that will help take great pictures. You will also learn tips and techniques. Bring your creativity!! *If the student has a camera at home that could be brought in for use or reference, bringing it in may help. *THIS IS A TWO SESSION CLASS (will run 2/1 and 2/8)* Join us for 2 days of scrapbook fun! For our first class, we'll talk about how to organize your photos, learn about scrapbook tools, and how to use your pictures to create a simple layout. For the second class, you'll be able to finish your layout and embellish it with die cuts, stickers, and journaling. Please bring 6-8 pictures related to an event or theme (such as a birthday, vacation, holiday celebration, etc.). Scrapbook tools, paper, markers and pens will be provided, but feel free to bring your own supplies (such as stickers or die cuts related to the theme of your pictures). They go to the hospital several times a month to visit with patient and families to cheer them up. Come learn about what makes a Therapy Dog special, and how a Therapy Dog is different than a Service Dog. We will also talk about safety around strange dogs, how to meet a new dog and how to prevent dog bites. Junior Inventors Have you ever wanted to invent something? Do you like watching Shark Tank as much as I do? Well you are in luck…..Anyone can be an inventor!!! I would love to show you how. This After School Special is meant to show you how to start being an inventor. There are 3 phases that we will focus on: 1) Finding problems – We will run through some fun examples to find problems. 2) Finding solutions –We will do a brainstorming session to find solutions (there will be lots and lots of post-its). 3) How to make them real – We will make a basic prototype with cardboard and glue. (I will bring a 3D printer to show you other prototyping tools) Grade Max # of Students Fee Instructor 2nd/3rd 8 $10 Rubens Jewelry Making Making jewelry is a great project for kids. Children love giving their best friends presents that are handmade. In this class you will find some great jewelry making ideas for kids to give handmade jewelry gifts to Mom, friends, cousins or wear themselves. This class is offered to 6 graders that are interested in learning more about babysitting. Students will learn what the role of a babysitter involves, how to seek important family information, how to respond in an emergency, and how to engage with the children. They will also learn the business of babysitting that includes “advertising” their service, the Do’s and Don’ts of babysitting, and resources about Red Cross and park district babysitting training classes.
