DEPARTMENT OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES Established in 1985, the staff and volunteers of Lincoln Center’s Department of Programs and Services for People with Disabilities (PSPD) are committed to the following principles in order to present the vitality of the performing arts to everyone: • Provide access and full participation in the world of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to patrons, artists, and employees with disabilities. • Encourage people with disabilities of all ages, ethnicities, races, religions, and economic backgrounds to learn about and participate in programs at Lincoln Center. • Develop and nurture a working relationship with people with disabilities so that the department’s programs and services will be responsive to this community’s changing needs. PSPD coordinates programs for people with disabilities, including its long-running Family Passport and Community Outreach Programs. The Family Passport Program was created especially for children ages 6–12 years old, introducing young imaginations to the magical world of live orchestral and chamber music, jazz, and performance art. Children with disabilities and their families are offered the opportunity to attend performances free of charge at Lincoln Center on weekends. 3

Every spring, via its Community Outreach Program, PSPD sends numerous performers and ensembles to nearby assisted living residences, nursing homes, and hospitals to entertain and inspire residents and patients who would be unable to attend Lincoln Center performances on their own. In addition, PSPD welcomes approximately 2,000 students with disabilities and their teachers to Lincoln Center Education’s Meet the Artist School Series each year. PSPD provides fully subsidized tickets to this beloved field trip program that showcases a blend of performance and participation. Please contact PSPD to learn more about the programs and services for visitors with disabilities and their families.
