July Statistics In the month of July 2016, members of the Seneca Falls Police Department documented 1425 duty related events. These events include: responding to 761 calls for service, conducting 348 property checks on both business and residential properties, and conducted 318 traffic stops. This activity yielded 152 traffic tickets, 44 motor vehicle accidents, 63 criminal arrests and 13 Driving While Intoxicated arrests. In comparing July 2015 to July of 2016, calls for service were down 2.8% (783/761); criminal arrests were up 3.2% (61/63); traffic tickets were down 13.6% (176/152); traffic accidents were up 91.3% (23/44); and Driving While Intoxicated arrests were up 116% (6/13).

Criminal Investigation Division During the month of July 2016 the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested (1) Male on (3) felony charges as a result of a Grand Jury Indictment. CID assisted the Seneca County Sheriff’s Department Narcotic’s Unit with (1) search warrant in the Town of Seneca Falls. CID was assigned (9) new cases and has closed (6) of theses with some form of closure. CID assisted the New York State Police with set up and loan of surveillance equipment in July of 2016. CID assisted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department in Florida with an interview of a sexual assault victim living in Seneca Falls in July of 2016. CID turned (1) case over to the New York State Police Counter Terrorism Investigation Unit for further investigation. The CID recorded interview room was utilized (13) times by members of CID and patrol.      

Seneca Falls PD hosts a Safe Child/Car Seat Checkpoint On July 23, 2016 between the hours of 10am-2pm, the Seneca Falls Police Department hosted a Safe Child/Car Seat Check Point at the Seneca Falls Police Department. Parents brought their children, vehicles and car seats to the police department to have certified Police Officers from the Seneca Falls Police Department check to make sure their child seat was properly installed, not expired, and that the seat was not recalled.    

Online Training The members of the Seneca Falls Police Department conducted a total of 41 hours of Police One Training during their regular scheduled shift. The online training does not cause any overtime or further cost to the department. The department as a whole completed LGBTI anti-bias training and enduring ambush training for a total of 23 hours. Sergeant Anderson completed the following Police One Training: Active shooter phases and preparation, law enforcement response to ambush, why frisk is crucial, surviving ambush for a total of 5.5 hours.

Officer Rotz completed the following Police One Training: Enduring ambush during arrest for a total of 10 mins of training

Officer Cleere completed the following Police One Training: Active shooter, crowd control bicycles, ambush awareness and preparation for a total of 3.2 hours.

Sergeant Gentile completed the following Police One Training: Law Enforcement response to active shooter, ambush awareness, driving to an ambush, and surveying an ambush for a total of 3 hours of Police one training.

Sergeant Hawker completed the following Police One Training: Enduring an ambush during an arrest for a total of 10 minutes of Police one training.

Investigator Petrocci took the following Police One Training: Buck Savage video one for a total of 1 hours of police one training.

Seneca Falls Police Officer’s uses Naloxone after a Man overdoses. Seneca Falls Police Officer’s treated a man with Naloxone after he overdosed in a Town of Seneca Falls home on Monday morning, July 11, 2016. Seneca Falls Police responded to the report of a man unresponsive and not breathing at 1:27 am. Town of Seneca Falls Police Officer Sean Peck and Officer Bethany Kidd, were the first officers to arrive and found a 25-year-old male from Waterloo, unconscious, not breathing, lying on the floor. Within a few minutes of being dispatched, Officer Peck had effectively administered a dose of Naloxone into the victim’s nostrils, causing him to regain consciousness. The male was treated at the scene by North Seneca Ambulance and transported to Geneva General Hospital for further treatment. No drugs were recovered from the scene and no arrests were made. The Seneca Falls Police Department has been carrying Naloxone kits since November 2014 when the Seneca County Health Department provided free training and Naloxone. Naloxone is a proven lifesaving drug for people at risk of immediate death from an opioid overdose, including heroin and/or prescription pain pills. The Seneca Falls Fire Department assisted at the scene.

         

 

Seneca Falls PD at Canal Fest   On July 9th between the hours of 10AM and 2PM the Seneca Falls Police Department held a “meet and greet” booth down at the Seneca Falls Canal Festival. Police Officers were there introducing themselves, offering free operation safe child ID cards and providing the opportunity to look through a police vehicle. Children and some adults also had the option of putting on a police uniform and hat for a photo op inside the one of our police “cruzers”.

Town of Seneca Falls   Harbor/Parking Report  Month of July 2016  Handicap Parking  There was a total of 13 tickets issued for handicap parking violations.   7 tickets were voided on the street after drivers showed their handicap tag  which was not properly displayed.   4 tickets were voided at the police station when drivers showed their tag.   2 tickets were turned in and are being processed. 

2 Hour Parking  There was a total of 44 courtesy tickets written for parking longer than the  allowed 2 hours.  No repeat offenders. 

15 Minute Parking  There was a total of 17 courtesy tickets written for parking longer than the  allowed 15 minutes.  No repeat offenders. 

Harbor  There was a total of 51 boats registered during the month.  

 

It should be noted that the number of boats visiting the harbor is higher than the number  registered.  Boats very often arrive at the harbor after 3 PM and leave before there is an  opportunity to register them at 10 AM the following day.
