Dear  Friends,                February  brings  us  to  Lent  –  already!    I  know  it’s  geing  close  to  Easter,  because   the  Valendne  cards  are  in  the  shops  and  some  supermarkets  already  have  Easter   eggs.    I’m  only  just  geing  over  Christmas!    Life  is  one  long  celebradon.    But  I  don’t   mind,  because  I  enjoy  celebradons,  and  to  think  about  Christmas  and  Easter  together   is  no  bad  thing.                    God  came  in  Christ  that  first  Christmas  to  be  with  us  in  His  world,  to  rescue  us   and  put  us  on  the  right  path  in  order  for  us  to  discover  the  best  of  life  that  we  can.     He  reintroduced  us  to  His  Father,  saying  that  he  can  be  our  Father  too,  and  that  He   wants  for  us  a  be^er  world  than  we  have  already  achieved.    So  we  found  Jesus   healing  the  sick,  seing  us  right  with  God,  and  promising  eternity.                    This  set  Him  at  odds  with  the  establishment  who  wanted  Him  dead.    They   managed  this  on  Good  Friday,  but  on  Easter  Sunday  God  raised  Him  from  the  dead.     He  then  began,  through  His  Church,  to  gather  His  world  to  Himself.      So,  with  Christ,   at  Easter,  we  gather  before  God  to  celebrate  all  that  He  has  done  for  us  because  He   loves  us  so  much.                As  we  come  to  Lent  (enjoy  the  pancakes  –  another  celebradon  day  before  the   first  day  of  Lent),  remember  God’s  love  in  Christ,  and  consider  how  we  respond  to   Him.    We  need  to  ask  what  we  need  to  jeison  from  our  lives  because  it’s  not  in   keeping  with  our  life  in  Christ,  but  also,  we  need  to  ask  what  we  add  to  our  lives  as   we  respond  to  God’s  call.    What  we  jeison,  we  can  leave  at  the  cross  on  Good   Friday,  what  we  include,  we  can  celebrate  on  Easter  Sunday.    Not  only  do  we   celebrate  Christ’s  resurrecdon,  but  the  resurrecdon  of  all  that  is  good  in  our  lives   that  we  bring  to  the  table  of  humanity,  that  we  might  help  in  bringing  God’s  Kingdom   closer  to  those  about  us.    Oh,  and  St.  Valendne’s  Day.    Is  that  not  a  celebradon  of   love,  and  is  not  God  love.                Enjoy  your  celebradons! Best  wishes David  Ellis 23
