Introduction The Self-Service Password system allows you to set up personalised security on your account, and then to change your password or unlock your account. To do this you will need to store your security details in advance which will then be asked when you reset or unlock your password. Should you ever forget your password, you can choose a new one simply by answering the security questions you have already set up.

Add/Change Security Details On Campus: To add or change your security details, go to https://password.hud.ac.uk

If you are adding or changing security details on campus the system will recognise your login details based on the workstation you are logged into. Enter the screen code displayed and click on the login button (

).

To enable you to change your password in future enter answers to the security information questions and click on Save Details.

On saving your security details successfully you will see the confirmation page.

Add/Change Security Details Off Campus: To add or change your security details, you need to go to https://password.hud.ac.uk If you are accessing the Self Service Password System from off campus you will be prompted with a login box. Enter your usual University login details.

Remember that you need to add AD\ to your login name, as in the example below:

Enter the screen code shown and click on the login button (

To enable you to change your password in future enter answers to the security questions and click on Save Details.

On saving your security details successfully you will see the confirmation page.

Resetting Your Password On Campus or Off Campus: Should you ever forget your password, you can choose a new one simply by answering the security questions you have already set up. If you have not provided an answer to these security questions you will not be able reset your password or unlock your account. You will need to contact Student IT Support who are available by telephone 24 hours a day: Telephone: On-Campus: 3730 Off-Campus: 01484 473730 E-mail:[email protected]

To reset your password, go to https://password.hud.ac.uk

Please provide your login details (e.g.: u1011111), enter the screen code shown and click on the login button (

).

If you provide correct answer to the security questions that you have already setup you will then have the option to reset your password or unlock your account.

Choose your new password using the screen above. Please do not use your date of birth as your password and remember that your password IS case-sensitive. PLEASE NOTE: When you change your password using the Self Service Password System it will automatically change the password for other University systems. To have your Unimail password the same as other University systems, use the Self Service Password system. Do not change your password in Unimail as it does not automatically change the password for other University systems.

Please read the confirmation page carefully and remember your new password will work on other systems such as Blackboard, PortalPlus, MyDetails, etc.

Unlock Your Account If you have tried to log in to your account with an incorrect password more than three times, your account will be locked. You can unlock your account by answering the security questions you have already set up. If you have not already done so you will need to contact Student IT Support who are available by telephone 24 hours a day: Telephone : On-Campus: 3730 Off-Campus: 01484 473730 E-mail:[email protected]

On clicking on Unlock My account the system will unlock your account and display the confirmation page as shown below.
