Meet Our Runners Finley Sesker Well, where to begin? I’m almost finished with the Palmer journey, going into 9th Tri, but I was set on this course, without knowing it, back in 1995 when NUCCA entered my life. Has it been almost 20 years since that day? It’s been a long, crazy trip and it shows no signs of stopping. I’m in the Palmer Clinics now, reliving that moment almost 20 years ago; except, now, it is my hand that is, perhaps, moving the destiny of others. That is what I run for. That is what I want to support and see continued development for the decades to come. I wouldn’t be able to run this event without NUCCA. The first mile is the hardest, and the road awaits us, friends. There’s nothing we cannot accomplish together! Previous Run for Research mileage: 12 miles (in a lab coat)

Zach Molland My name is Zach Molland and I am an 8th trimester Palmer student, excited to run in his second Run for Research. I am not much of a runner but I do occasionally take the evening jog and I have run in one sanctioned event, that being the BIX 7 in 2012. I run 3 or 4 miles on a typical excursion so I am thinking I will be able to push myself to double that, given the proper motivation of creating funds for upcoming research. I look forward to hitting the pavement with my fellow peers in arms! Goal Mileage: 7 miles

Jason Langslet My name is Jason Langslet and I’m in my 7th trimester here at Palmer. I’ve been going to NUCCA club since my first trimester, but it was not until I attended conference last April that I decided I would be practicing NUCCA beyond obtaining my degree. Though it took me a while to commit to a technique, I believe that I have found the right one and I’m sure that this is something I will enjoy doing for the rest of my life. As for the Run for Research, I am participating again this year because I know that every dollar earned will be going towards an organization that will help to bring upper cervical chiropractic to those who need it. Last year I ran my personal best of 12 miles during our two hour block and this year I would like to run a similar distance. I have not been running as much as I would like to lately, but I plan to be running close to 6-8 miles daily once the event gets closer. Previous Run for Research Mileage: 12 miles

My name is Shane Preece, and I am a 5th trimester student at Palmer. I have been a member of the NUCCA club since first trimester. I got started in NUCCA because my wife swears by NUCCA and won’t be adjusted any other way. As I have learned of the power of the upper cervical adjustment, NUCCA has become a passion for me. This is why I am running for research – I see the results of NUCCA, and I want to be able to help the work to progress to its full potential. An average run for me is 5 miles.

Peter Bulcher Hi, my name is Peter Bulcher. I am excited for this year's Run for Research! I have been a part of the Palmer NUCCA club for 4 trimesters now and every thing I learn about upper cervical specific adjusting is what brought me to chiropractic in the first place and is what puts the fire in my passion for becoming a NUCCA doctor myself. The Palmer NUCCA club's Run for Research event was a tremendous success last year and a great example our commitment to the great work of upper cervical specific adjusting. I managed an intimidating three miles at that event but alas hurt my knee under the strain! My recovery was complete, though, and there is nothing holding me back this year. Watch out.

Vanessa McKnight-Whitford My name is Vanessa McKnight-Whitford and I am currently a fifth trimester student at Palmer, originally hailing from the East Coast of Canada. I recently joined the NUCCA club here at school because I am interested in upper cervical work and was drawn to the highly specific nature of NUCCA. I’m excited to take part in the Run for Research because I want to help spread the word about the power of a highly specific upper cervical adjustment. I believe that getting the body in better health starts with a healthy spine and that the key to a healthy spine starts with the Atlas. I am a regular summertime runner and run about 2-3 miles per trip.

Trevor Hillard Hello NUCCA Doctors! My name is Trevor and I'm a sixth trimester Palmer student from Calgary, Canada. I first discovered NUCCA about ten years ago when some members of my family had amazing results with their care. I look forward to joining the NUCCA community, and am excited to have the opportunity to do some running for upper cervical research. My goal for the run is ten kilometers (6 miles).

Chris Gates My name is Chris Gates and I am currently a 4th tri student. After immersing myself into the green books and chiropractic philosophy I began to understand that the chiropractors adjustment is not the healing mechanism, it's a proper functioning nervous system that heals and maintains the body. The force provided merely facilitates the adjustment the body will make. This being said the NUCCA correction seems to provide the least amount of force with the most profound whole body effects. For this reason I have been active in NUCCA club for the past two tri's. As for my running career my personal record is 6 miles, to show my dedication to this profession and NUCCA I will be attempting a new PR.

Kayla Bouska Hi I'm Kayla Bouska and I'm in my 2nd trimester at Palmer. I joined NUCCA club when I first started Palmer in July. I learned about the power of a NUCCA adjustment after shadowing a NUCCA Doctor in the summer of 2013. I always believed in the power of an adjustment, but I was awestruck from the testimonials I heard from his office. I was drawn to NUCCA because of the specificity of the adjustment. My passion for NUCCA increased after I received my first adjustments and saw my own results. I am currently working towards my part I proficiency of the Student Proficiency Program. I believe research is important because its one of the best ways to let the world learn about NUCCA. That is why I am participating in the Run for Research (even though I am not a runner!). My average miles per run is 2 (on a good day) and my goal is to run 7 miles.

Erin Stuntz Hello! I am Erin Stuntz; a second trimester student at Palmer College of Chiropractic. I aspire to help people reach optimal health, resulting in an optimal lifestyle. Upper cervical alignment is undeniably crucial to individual health, and NUCCA specifically, has sparked a curiosity in me. Great research has been done, but more is certainly needed so that we may find the additional benefits of the adjustment and how this improves the lives of our patients. This is why I choose to “Run For Research.” I have been running recreationally since I was 12 years old; my personal best mileage has been 13 miles. Finally, as of summer 2013 I ran my first race when I participated in the Bix 7. I find a lot of enjoyment in running, particularly on trails, and the unbeaten path. I respect NUCCA for also having taken the unbeaten path resulting in such an effective adjustment.

Luke Sesker Luke Sesker is currently a second trimester student at Palmer College of Chiropractic. When he’s not eating, sleeping, practicing settlebacks or cramming for his next exam, he enjoys another simple hobby… running. Luke’s goal is to run the whole two-hour duration of the event. This amount of time has never been attempted before, but he is confident that the pain won’t be completely terrible, just pretty darn bad. Luke says he’s willing to suck it up for a couple hours, especially because he’ll get to justify eating his weight in pasta upon completion, all for the benefit of upper cervical research. This is of course all before a very long nap. Cheers!

Danielle Clear Hi, my name is Danielle Clear and I am a second tri student at Palmer. I first attending NUCCA club when during first tri, but I didn't become serious until I shadowed a NUCCA doc. While seeing the patients' passion and reactions to their care made it clear that I was in the right place. I'm excited to take part in the run for research for the first time so I can start doing my part for this great profession. I have always stayed very active in athletics and enjoyed running. My goal for the run is 8 miles although my average run is 3 to 5 miles.

Leah Rezin HI! My name is Leah Rezin and I am in second trimester here at Palmer so my current hobbies include eating, sleeping, and studying! I attend events and get involved whenever I can in NUCCA and several other groups on campus including the sorority and AMPED. I am excited to do the Run for Research because NUCCA is what introduced me to Chiropractic, and what brought me to Palmer! I plan on running 6 miles, so I will have to add training to my long list of eating, sleeping and studying.
